Achieve effective threat prevention and seamless integration with powerful technical support
Integration with third-party products is possible. For example, connecting a mail gateway with Palo Alto Networks WildFire allows them to handle prevention. Palo Alto Networks WildFire is a cloud-based sandboxing solution. The firewall is connected to WildFire, and XDR performs sandboxing from the cloud. WildFire conducts malware scanning and emulation, then informs the firewall to block threats based on the response. It also generates reports regarding malware and other issues. The sandboxing process involves sending sample files to the cloud for scanning, checking file authenticity, certificates, and detecting malicious code. WildFire performs multiple checks and informs the XDR agent about file status. This automatic process occurs within minutes or seconds. For unknown or suspicious files, immediate blocking occurs while samples are sent to WildFire for identification. I rate Palo Alto Networks WildFire a 9 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"WildFire has been instrumental in blocking a number of new threats, before common desktop anti-virus tools were able to detect them."
"Integrating Palo Alto Networks WildFire with various security protocols similar to a firewall has significantly improved the overall threat detection capabilities in our organization."
"The protection, prevention, detection, and prevention capabilities are very powerful."
"Installing this product as a datacenter firewall for segregation and segmentation, and also configuring policies between zones has improved my organization."
"The most valuable feature is the cloud-based protection against zero-day malware attacks."
"It catches modified signatures of known viruses."
"You have better control because you define apps. You just don't define ports. You define apps, and the apps are monitored in the traffic. It is more specific than the Cisco firewall when it comes to our needs."
"Technology-wise, it is good because of the granular controls we get in Palo Alto Networks."
"The most valuable feature is Click-time URL protection."
"It has certainly helped out our audit efforts because we each stay compliant in terms of various security standards."
"The technical support services are excellent."
"What I like most about Symantec Advanced Threat Protection is its notification capability."
"The great advantage in using this product is it creates multiple services."
"The most valuable feature is NetFlow threat protection."
"Endpoint to network protects the line."
"They manage to solve detection quite nicely. There is some rather elaborate detection compared to other providers."

Cons

"There are certain changes that I was expecting in the previous version, and I hope that they are soon fixed. All of the problems that I have faced so far have been resolved."
"The system uptime data is unavailable"
"The initial setup was complex."
"Perhaps an anti-spam feature could be considered."
"They can keep on doing more updates. As new malware and viruses are coming out, they can make sure that WildFire is up to date."
"The GUI is better in 8.0, but I still feel it lacks the fast response most of us desire. Logs are much quicker."
"The global product feature needs improvement, the VPN, and we need some enhanced features."
"The cyber security visibility and forensics features to receive more information about incidents could improve in Palo Alto Networks WildFire."
"The support for new OSs and older OSs could be a little tighter. They need to be more upfront about what protection services they're going to provide on new OSs. I haven't seen the Windows 11 version out yet. It is either already released in Beta, or the Beta will be released soon. There could be a little bit more advanced updates on what they're doing to help protect Windows 11 environments. They can let us know in advance so that we know it is going to be protected. We can't roll out the new OS without putting end-point protection on it. So, they should tell us what is their support model for that, and what are they doing to protect Windows 11. They're not telling me, and that's a criticism. The same issue is applicable to all the other antivirus tools. It is not just Symantec; all of them have this problem."
"Not ideal for advanced threat protection."
"Symantec appliances need improvement. The whole appliance environment is a robust system and it needs a massive amount of storage space. If you have to increase or speed up the background storage it's a pretty complicated process. The scalability and sizing is critical, and if you do it wrong you run into issues pretty quickly."
"They could enhance the solution to work across all devices, including Android, iOS, and Mac, and make it more user-friendly."
"An improvement could be made on the reporting because then it would be easier to collect information and submit it for compliance."
"There are limits with respect to blocking files by hash value or blocking IP addresses, and these limits should be removed."
"The support has dropped down to a five out of ten."
"The product's support services need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I use Palo Alto Networks WildFire's free version."
"The solution is a bit expensive. You pay for security."
"Palo Alto Networks WildFire is an expensive product."
"This solution is very pricey and it depends on the package that you implement."
"The solution is overpriced."
"More expensive than other firewalls."
"Pricing could be improved."
"I rate the pricing an eight out of ten since it can be pretty expensive."
"The price is quite expensive."
"Pricing is good. It is nice to have a great product at a fair price."
"Symantec Endpoint Protection has an average price."
"Symantec Advanced Threat Protection's pricing is comparable."
"The pricing of this solution is inexpensive and affordable."
