Achieve effective threat prevention and seamless integration with powerful technical support
Integration with third-party products is possible. For example, connecting a mail gateway with Palo Alto Networks WildFire allows them to handle prevention. Palo Alto Networks WildFire is a cloud-based sandboxing solution. The firewall is connected to WildFire, and XDR performs sandboxing from the cloud. WildFire conducts malware scanning and emulation, then informs the firewall to block threats based on the response. It also generates reports regarding malware and other issues. The sandboxing process involves sending sample files to the cloud for scanning, checking file authenticity, certificates, and detecting malicious code. WildFire performs multiple checks and informs the XDR agent about file status. This automatic process occurs within minutes or seconds. For unknown or suspicious files, immediate blocking occurs while samples are sent to WildFire for identification. I rate Palo Alto Networks WildFire a 9 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"FortiSandbox helps us handle unknown threats. Every vendor is competing for who can detect an unknown threat the fastest. Fortinet is competitive in the market."
"It is a stable solution."
"The solution is easy to manage."
"One of the valuable features is its ability to detect new threats."
"Compared to other solutions, it's easy to configure and implement because of the templates. The timing of scanning files is faster."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiSandbox are customization, ICAP protocol, and integration with other vendors. Additionally, the security work very well."
"It is an easily scalable solution."
"The main benefit of Fortinet FortiSandbox is that it allows organizations to detect and prevent unknown threats from entering an infrastructure."
"Remote access is excellent."
"It has a user-friendly interface."
"Intuitive threat prevention and analysis solution, with a machine learning feature. Scalable, stable, and protects against zero-day threats."
"The most valuable features of the solution are user-friendliness, price, good security, and cloud-related options."
"The most valuable feature for us is the VPN."
"The protection, prevention, detection, and prevention capabilities are very powerful."
"I give the initial setup an eight out of ten."
"Stability is never a concern."

Cons

"In the next release, I would like to see machine learning and anti-exploitation included."
"Product could include a user interface and be made simpler for customers to configure."
"It should be easier to import custom virtual machines. Some of the VMs that are in FortiSandbox don't have the applications that we have in our environment. We need to import a VM with specific applications that we use in our environment. Have all the licenses because this is a real environment. You need a license for the Windows client you run on it. It's possible to import custom VMs, but it's a pain to do it. I would like a tool that simplifies the process."
"In future releases, I would like to see more automation capabilities."
"Something that needs to improve, is the end-point protection."
"It would be better if it had support for Mac and Linux."
"I don't know if it is viable to do an improvement like this. When there are passwords in the password-protected files, it can't scan them or do things like this. I don't know if an algorithm or something else could make it better. Nowadays, many legitimate office documents have passwords."
"When you reach the maximum capacity, you cannot upgrade the solution because its hardware is very expensive."
"Other vendors have some sort of bandwidth management built into the firewall itself and Palo Alto is missing that."
"One area for improvement is the expansion of the sandbox environment to include a broader range of platforms, such as Linux, macOS, and mobile operating systems."
"The threat intelligence that we receiving in the reporting was not as expected. We were expecting more. Additionally, we should be able to whitelist a specific file based on a variety of attributes."
"I would like to see them continue on their developmental roadmap for the product."
"The customer service and support I received was extremely disappointing. There is a lack of SLA adherence, and third-party partners do not provide prompt responses."
"The global product feature needs improvement, the VPN, and we need some enhanced features."
"They should make their user interface a little more user-friendly."
"The product fails to offer protection when dealing with high-severity vulnerabilities, making it an area of concern where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive solution."
"The price of Fortinet FortiSandbox is not expensive."
"Fortinet FortiSandbox is a nominally priced product, so I would not say that it is a very cheap tool."
"The solution is not expensive at all."
"There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We are on an annual license to use the solution. We have an additional feature that is integrated with S5, which is working well."
"Fortinet is more reasonable than Palo Alto."
"There are additional costs, which isn't included in the licensing fee."
"The licensing fees are on an annual basis, and there are no costs in addition to the standard fees."
"There are different types of licenses."
"I use Palo Alto Networks WildFire's free version."
"The pricing and licensing option should be categorized for various countries such as for Bangladesh."
"It's not particularly cheap, but it is absolutely worth it."
"WildFire is a little bit pricey. Sometimes it's difficult to sell it to customers at the current price."
"The physical appliance is around €3,000 or €4,000, and then, you have the licensing for a year for around €3,000."
"It's comparable to what the competition is. It is probably a little lesser than what the competition is because, as a state government, we go for whatever the lowest cost is."
