Enhanced network security with adaptable integration and really good support
We use FortiSandbox for scanning files and images that pass through our networks. It integrates with different devices, such as five adapters and other Fortinet devices It is time-saving and more secure. It saves us from a lot of antivirus and anti-malware issues. The adapter is beneficial as it…

Enhanced cybersecurity with advanced sandboxing and effective in controlling DNS issues
Improvements are needed in the UI part. The dashboard should provide better visibility, especially in showing how many files are sent to Wildfire and their findings. This information should be integrated with the Dashboard so that system admins can see what is happening. Furthermore, technical support needs a lot of improvement, particularly in terms of responsiveness and adhering to service level agreements.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiSandbox are the analysis options, artificial intelligence, and the many interfaces it provides."
"One of the valuable features is its ability to detect new threats."
"FortiSandbox helps us handle unknown threats. Every vendor is competing for who can detect an unknown threat the fastest. Fortinet is competitive in the market."
"It is a stable solution."
"The product is great. It can be deployed on the cloud or on-premises."
"You have access to a report as to what behaviors the example file entered in the registry."
"What I find most valuable, is that it is easy to use."
"The dynamic behavior analysis is excellent. We have many attacks caught by the FortiSandbox as zero-day attacks. Additionally, the administration is simple and can be customized to fit your companies needs."
"WildFire has default licenses for threat prevention. It updates its cloud-based database in real-time, and its dedicated team analyzes threats to provide remediation and prevention measures."
"Their technical support is outstanding and top-notch."
"We get support in the free version."
"The scalability is acceptable."
"Integrating Palo Alto Networks WildFire with various security protocols similar to a firewall has significantly improved the overall threat detection capabilities in our organization."
"The solution handles DSD segregation and monitors the gateways"
"The cloud-based services are a nice feature."
"You have better control because you define apps. You just don't define ports. You define apps, and the apps are monitored in the traffic. It is more specific than the Cisco firewall when it comes to our needs."

Cons

"The initial setup is not too complex but could be easier."
"It can be difficult if you need to use the Command Line Interface (CLI). It's much easier if you only have to deal with the GUI."
"For additional features, maybe a form of execution pain files in a non-virtual environment because it has threats that identify when it is being run in a virtual machine."
"In future releases, I would like to see more automation capabilities."
"Sometimes, there are issues upgrading the version of the firewall or the SD-LAN box. After we upgrade to the latest version of the software, we still have the same box. I think it's the same for every vendor."
"It should be easier to import custom virtual machines. Some of the VMs that are in FortiSandbox don't have the applications that we have in our environment. We need to import a VM with specific applications that we use in our environment. Have all the licenses because this is a real environment. You need a license for the Windows client you run on it. It's possible to import custom VMs, but it's a pain to do it. I would like a tool that simplifies the process."
"Most people are confused about how to use the right integration of the right Fortinet product."
"There could be more templates and a higher number of simulated VMs to configure more use cases. Sometimes we need to configure many use cases in many different environments, and if the number of VMs that we configure is limited, we have to remove some and reconfigure the environment if we need another environment."
"I would give this product a rating of 9 out of 10 due to some slight issues of performance."
"The system performance degrades after the solution has been deployed for some time. The data that it gives us becomes a little bit slow. When you try to get some data for troubleshooting, it seems like it's working hard to extract that data."
"The automation and responsiveness need improvement."
"The support is quite difficult to access promptly. I rate it as seven out of ten."
"The integration is almost not easy because it depends on the vendor."
"I think it would be nice for Palo Alto to work without the connection to the cloud. It is 100% powerful when connected to the cloud. But, if you disconnect from the cloud, you only get 40-50% power."
"One area for improvement is the expansion of the sandbox environment to include a broader range of platforms, such as Linux, macOS, and mobile operating systems."
"Improving detection on non-Windows formats would be beneficial as there are many samples, such as Linux or ransomware for macOS."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are additional costs, which isn't included in the licensing fee."
"We are on an annual license to use the solution. We have an additional feature that is integrated with S5, which is working well."
"The price is competitive."
"Altogether, it is about €10,000 for the Sandbox and Email Gateway."
"The solution is affordable."
"The solution is unavailable at a lower cost and can be difficult to deploy."
"The price of Fortinet FortiSandbox is not expensive."
"The solution is not expensive at all."
"For the last three years, the price of Palo Alto in Vietnam has been very high."
"More expensive than other firewalls."
"The price is expensive but is reasonable considering overall functionality."
"The price of Palo Alto Networks WildFire could improve. It is expensive. There is an annual subscription to use the solution."
"The physical appliance is around €3,000 or €4,000, and then, you have the licensing for a year for around €3,000."
"This solution is very pricey and it depends on the package that you implement."
"We are on an annual subscription. When we purchased the firewall, we had activated this solutions license for a minimum of one year. The price of the solution is fair."
"It is expensive, a feature more accessible to enterprise class customers, but provides an enhanced possibility that Zero- or near-Zero-day threats may be identified and mitigated. The cost of the product weighed against the potential impact of even one successful crypto malware-type exploit may justify the expense."
