Comprehensive security solution mitigates advanced threats
Improvements for Check Point SandBlast Network can be seen in dashboard usability; the threat emulation logs and analysis reports could be made more intuitive and visually appealing. Enhancing the system for granular tuning to reduce false positives and allowing benign files to bypass checks more simply for non-expert users would be beneficial. Additionally, faster emulation times could be achieved by increasing file scanning speed through hardware productivity enhancements. A specific instance where file scanning speed posed an issue was when the time taken depended on the file size. Scanning can take less than a minute or up to 2 minutes for larger files. Enhancing the file scanning time would be a significant improvement to the system.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Check Point SandBlast Network Solution provides signature-based as well as zero-day threat protection, and sandboxing can be performed on an on-premise device, cloud, as well as the combination of both."
"We have never had a case of a virus entering our company computer and I think we are safe because of this solution."
"Threat Emulation gives networks the necessary protection against unknown threats in files that are attached to emails. The Threat Emulation engine picks up malware at the exploit phase before it enters the network. It quickly quarantines and runs the files in a virtual sandbox, which imitates a standard operating system, to discover malicious behavior before hackers can apply evasion techniques to bypass the sandbox."
"SandBlast protects the network and endpoint from some of the most vicious malware there is - including trojans and ransomware - without compromising productivity."
"The zero-day protection is its most valuable feature."
"Preventing zero-day threats and extracting potential threats from incoming files with Threat Extraction is the most valuable feature for us."
"Check Point SandBlast Network stops unknown malware and zero-day attacks, and we rely on it to prevent zero-day threats before they enter our enterprise network to protect our productivity, so it has to sanitize files that are delivered immediately to our users in our organization."
"Check Point SandBlast Network has positively impacted my organization as it's very accurate and gives almost no false positives, providing excellent threat prevention and protecting against server zero-day attacks."
"Currently we have 800-plus nodes connected with this solution, without any issues."
"The incident management on the solution is very good. You get a lot of detailed information about an incident. You also get a lot of documentation in connection with the CVI or integration."
"They have a very simple and easy implementation; they have been around for a long time, and they have been very easy to deploy, support, and manage."
"Currently we have 800-plus nodes connected with this solution, without any issues. The solution is scalable."
"They manage to solve detection quite nicely, with rather elaborate detection compared to other providers, and Symantec also provides a useful set of information linked to each of the attacked computers."
"They manage to solve detection quite nicely. There is some rather elaborate detection compared to other providers."
"Endpoint to network protects the line."
"All of the solution's features are quite valuable for us, and we especially like the threat protection it provides."

Cons

"We have found a need for the application to be a bit more elastic, bringing it to SAS services and not IAS."
"The file types that can be scanned are limited, which means that if the file type is not listed or enabled for the sandbox, they are bypassed and it can lead to a security issue."
"They need to improve the GUI interface."
"Today, we have it as part of a solution or a package. However, we'd like there to be a way where we can have the solution's features available to us in a cheaper way in the future."
"When we enable sandboxing for all users, the CPU utilization of the firewall increases significantly, which could be improved."
"The technical support could use some work, but it's okay. It's a little bit of a tedious process to get through."
"There have been a couple of things that we've tried where we read through the documentation, and we were really looking for some help in implementing, and technical support wanted me to try it first, then call them if it breaks. It would be nicer if they would hold my hand a bit more. It makes me nervous in production, as I don't have a lab."
"There is a limit on the number of files that can be scanned in real-time, which could lead to us being found with our guard down on a high-traffic day."
"The endpoint protection looks old."
"Scalability could be better."
"The support has dropped down to a five out of ten."
"Symantec appliances need improvement. The whole appliance environment is a robust system and it needs a massive amount of storage space. If you have to increase or speed up the background storage it's a pretty complicated process. The scalability and sizing is critical, and if you do it wrong you run into issues pretty quickly."
"There are some features that would add value to this product. One of them would be a graphical presentation of threats that the system has encountered."
"The product's support services need improvement."
"It also needs network-based threat protection for shared folders and files."
"Solutions like CrowdStrike, ESET, and SentinelOne have really jumped ahead on behavioral and algorithm-based detection capabilities. Symantec is trying to catch up, but they still have some limitations of being an old-school AV protection program and adding AI and behavioral learning and detection algorithm."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost of Check Point SandBlast Network is annually, and there is only a standard license."
"Choosing the correct set of licenses is essential because, without the additional software blade licenses, the Check Point gateways are just a stateful firewall."
"I think the overall cost for introducing Check Point with SandBlast was reasonable and competitive in the market."
"We have seen ROI."
"The product's cost is high."
"The pricing is quite effective, not excessively high. On a scale of one to ten, where ten is the highest price, I rate the pricing a nine."
"The cost is not significantly high and it can be negotiated during any purchase of NGFW."
"We would like to try the Threat Extraction blade, but you need to buy a license. Check Point is expensive. I would like to buy things, but I would need the funding."
"Symantec Endpoint Protection has an average price."
"Pricing is good. It is nice to have a great product at a fair price."
"The pricing of this solution is inexpensive and affordable."
"The price is quite expensive."
"Symantec Advanced Threat Protection's pricing is comparable."
