Effortless management with robust support enhances performance and cost savings
My primary use case for Proxmox VE focuses on replacing VMware solutions and migrating to a Centric Solution for medium-sized companies. This product serves as a hypervisor in environments where performance is crucial Proxmox VE has provided performance improvements, particularly with its…

Some features go well with other tools like VMware, where making something on the fly or making some changes on the fly in the area of memory or something is possible. On the fly, you cannot do anything on Scale Computing HC3, though it is a very rarely needed area. Being able to make some changes on the fly is very risky, but even then, you see customers saying since it is an area that is not possible with Scale Computing HC3, it is better to go with some other tools. My company convinces our customers that opting for another solution is not required since a tool that allows us to make some changes on the fly can be very risky, and it is also not something that fits in according to certain policies or good practices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is easy to install. It can run on a lot of different types of hardware. Creating virtual machines with it is really easy."
"The solution is stable."
"It works well and shows off the potential of virtual environments."
"We can access the product from iPhone 7. It is stable and easy."
"So now that you can get all the HA (high-availability) features that VMware has, there are not too many major differences between VMware and Proxmox, and the only difference is you get it for no cost."
"Ease of use, HA, internal 100gbps Virtio network, built-in backup (don't pay $1200 Veeam licence), support for multi-monitors on multiple VMs in KVM, no need to RDP in the VMs to do your stuff (Win, Linux and Mac with SPICE and using 6 screens here (11520*2160)."
"The documentation and the community support are very helpful."
"The ability to back up a host and keep it running is valuable."
"I would advise others they should use this solution instead of traditional servers because it's safer, and better for the company."
"I rate Scale Computing support 10 out of 10. They're accessible and responsive."
"I like that Scale Computing HCR is slimmed down and gives me the features I need and not features that I don't need."
"The stability is very good; I have no complaints there, as there aren't bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"Scale Computing HC3 is highly stable."

Cons

"The only issue I have with Proxmox VE is updating it. You have to manually update it or you have to have a way to update it automatically."
"The so-called free support that the solution offers doesn't allow you to access the repositories."
"It's one of those things for me to move things on to the cloud. It's not so easy. I am always on the laptop and have to monitor that because if you want to make strides; you need to stay online."
"Its performance and support can be improved. Currently, there is a cost for support."
"Some parts of the Proxmox installation are a bit complex. Proxmox relies on the ZFS file system, which can be difficult to understand and configure correctly. There is no documentation or videos to discuss the process."
"There are some things that need to be done using the command-line interface, and these should be moved into the web-based interface."
"The process for deployment is complicated."
"The facility of deployment is an area that needs to improve."
"The product could use a better control center."
"I've had so many issues with the sales team when I was looking to make some improvements, and improve the performance. They would create so many excuses to force me to buy new nodes all the time and not let me add more memory to each node."
"Scale Computing HC3 said in an announcement they were going to integrate with a backup service which would be good."
"On the fly, you cannot do anything on Scale Computing HC3, though it is a very rarely needed area."
