Unlocks actionable insights through user-friendly analysis features
The self-service capabilities that Qlik Sense offers are significant. They offer natural language processing, allowing users to ask questions in layman language, and Qlik Sense will create charts and narratives automatically. Users can access any dashboard developed in Qlik Sense from familiar portals such as Okta or other company portals through embedding features. The integration with chatbots, particularly Microsoft Teams, allows users to access dashboards and ask questions directly within Teams. The collaboration feature enables users to share analysis by taking snapshots and tagging team members within the Qlik Sense interface, eliminating the need for lengthy emails or screenshots. The storytelling feature allows users to create presentations directly in Qlik Sense using dashboard analysis, making it easier to answer questions during meetings. The subscription feature enables users to receive charts and sheets via email instead of navigating to the dashboard, facilitating monitoring purposes. Qlik Sense offers alerting capabilities where users can set thresholds for KPIs and receive notifications when these thresholds are reached. The platform also includes AI/ML features for predictive modeling through a no-code component, allowing business users to create and deploy AutoML models without depending on data scientists. The Qlik Answers component, featuring generative AI capability, enables users to get answers from unstructured data including Excel, HTML documents, or Microsoft Word documents by creating a knowledge base. The user-friendly interface operates on a drag-and-drop approach, with Qlik Sense suggesting appropriate charts based on selected dimensions and measures. The associative engine capabilities allow data association between tables, implementing selections across related tables. The platform uses a color-coding system (white, gray, and dark gray) to show related, excluded, and unrelated data selections, providing insights beyond traditional BI tools.

It's stable, it keeps on improving and the technical support is excellent
I think a lot of users aren't having fun using SAP because it requires putting in a lot of information by keyboard directly because it requires some coding, so this is one area for improvement. From a user point of view, SAP is a complex system where you can learn and teach, so another area for improvement in the solution is that it needs to be more user-friendly. In the next release of SAP, I want it to have a friendlier menu for its users.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We were able to identify easy things, such as when a contract was loaded incorrectly."
"End users can adjust their analysis with a few simple clicks."
"Qlik Sense provides features to manage and govern data, ensuring data security, accuracy, and regulation compliance."
"Qlik Sense is a very powerful and useful tool."
"Qlik has brought tremendous value to our organization in a few key ways."
"Self-service use of the desktop version with the ability to port applications into the server environment."
"Qlik Sense has given us visibility into our data to make informed decisions."
"The all-in-one tool has the ability to perform integrations and the use of complex functions in the development of valuable indicators with high efficiency."
"This is a tool that gives more power to the user."
"We were all sitting in a conference room, four of us, and we watched a YouTube video, which is eight minutes long, and after that we were able to build a couple of dashboards by ourselves, just from that one watch and learn session."
"We chose it because of its ability to have a selection of data from various sources, and it's an easy reporting tool for business analysts to use."
"I like the integration, so it's easy to integrate different data sources."
"SAP Lumira is the best system in the world, at least in my opinion. I like that it's a stable system and that many people in my company have development experience in SAP Lumira. The solution keeps on improving and has excellent support."
"Beautiful visualizations."
"It's more of a user-friendly tool, it's easy, and it speeds up the process."
"I think rapid development, geospatial coding, using it to connect to multiple data sources are all good selling points for it."

Cons

"They need to make security rules to access applications and data security easier and customizable."
"There are occasional stability problems, but Qlik support is excellent at correcting anything that arises."
"Dates. My goodness, working with dates in set analysis can be a nightmare! Much room for improvement."
"Reload time is a limit since everyone wants real-time data."
"There is room for improvement in the storytelling mode and the report sharing. Qlik Sense also does not have a subscription base like Power BI. So a lot of the analysis is housed in community pages that are managed by either the author or a database administrator, or whoever the Qlik Sense manager is there."
"However, the training is not free. When you want to learn more about the tool, sometimes you need to pay for the training."
"There is a direction currently with feature releases within QLik Sense which are focused towards the SaaS or Cloud offerings of Qlik Sense. This leaves those who have invested heavily in on-premise enterprise deployments in a difficult position to gain the benefits of some powerful new features they have to look to reinvest further towards these SaaS or Cloud deployments or bring in a hybrid model. Qlik provides no real split between what features are available in each of the deployment options."
"Large data sets and sources of data, large applications are limited to a single server (instance or virtual machine)."
"Each quarterly upgrade has new features, but then existing features tend to break. This is highly frustrating and affects existing Lumira documents."
"There have been some issues; the product itself is going through the improvement stages and the newer versions seem to be more stable."
"It would be great to have more ETL capabilities so that the user can do more cleansing/mining on his/her side."
"It needs to have more complex and enriched chart functions."
"I would look at the geospatial part of it which doesn't seem work well as when you look at converting that for your maps, it is a little cumbersome, and it's not as accurate."
"Lumira uses a lot of memory resources, so the execution of dashboards is slow."
"An area of improvement, for sure, is the flexibility of the visualization."
"I am happy with the product, but they could improve in the discovery of the product."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Start small with tokens. You can always buy more."
"It is the most expensive tool."
"Licensing can start to get expensive, but compared to other tools in this space it is about average."
"Licensing could be cheaper."
"QlikSense offers a Hybrid environment architecture, which is very cost effective based on where the enterprise data resides."
"Know your needs when going into the purchasing decision."
"Qlik Sense pricing and licensing is like that of QlikView. It's on the high side for a small company, but it’s competitive among its peers. Use of licenses (referred to as tokens) is a bit confusing. There is a login access pass for infrequent or anonymous access."
"The costs can initially become quite high. Make sure you have a clear understanding of who will truly use the product as opposed to someone that will simply receive the end report."
"In terms of cost, SAP Lumira is less affordable."
"PowerBI is way more capable at a much better price point: $10 per user without all the associated setup costs."
