Data visualization has become faster and flexible and now enables quick multi-source reporting
Qlik Sense is very easy to use, but sometimes integration is a bit challenging. In our case, we wanted to integrate the cloud version of Qlik Sense, and Qlik Sense is not supporting the on-premises version, so we moved to the cloud version. We had a lot of challenges when integrating Qlik Sense SSO with the reports that we wanted to show on our web app or mobile app. There were a lot of challenges along with that, but eventually, we overcame those challenges, and things are working fine now. The integration part is one point for improvement; it could be more simple because I found some complexities with it. The single sign-on part is a little tricky and is not straightforward. We have done multiple rounds with their technical team, and although it got resolved later on, I think that it could have been better.

It's stable, it keeps on improving and the technical support is excellent
I think a lot of users aren't having fun using SAP because it requires putting in a lot of information by keyboard directly because it requires some coding, so this is one area for improvement. From a user point of view, SAP is a complex system where you can learn and teach, so another area for improvement in the solution is that it needs to be more user-friendly. In the next release of SAP, I want it to have a friendlier menu for its users.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Qlik Sense has given us the ability to load large log files and provide analytics."
"All the visualizations have been so valuable."
"It has allowed us to manage our staff more effectively and frees up time for our analysts to analyze new problems and opportunities."
"Qlik Sense has assisted my company in providing management information to users across all levels of the organization."
"QlikSense has drastically and dramatically made our analytical function more efficient."
"The self-service capabilities that Qlik Sense offers are significant."
"You can build a very nice dashboard and/or report very quickly (simple reports can be ready in a matter of minutes!) even if your data is scattered between different files or even platform (excels, DB, etc.)."
"Now, using Apps in Qlik as a navigation tool, we are using hidden opportunities to open new markets and also to reduce costs."
"It's very easy to import data and also to create formulas and so on, and it made creating charts, especially bubble charts, really easy and very powerful, helping me build impressive metrics for the team around surgery times, supplies used, and expense analysis."
"I would recommend using SAP Lumira because the development of dashboards is easy, and they have a good look and feel."
"Within an hour or so, we had actually a better visualization of the data."
"We were all sitting in a conference room, four of us, and we watched a YouTube video, which is eight minutes long, and after that we were able to build a couple of dashboards by ourselves, just from that one watch and learn session."
"We’ve created several dashboards that display large sets of data in an insightful and easily digestible way."
"This solution is easy to use, and it is unbelievable to use for operations and exploration."
"It is a product that's easy to learn and understand, with the ability to create dynamic visualizations and various integration options including next-to real-time."
"The ability to merge enriched data from different sources and also to connect to SAP HANA live data is also embedded in SAP HANA live analytics which cuts down time to deliver a solution to users and helps power users to design their own Lumira stories without any need for IT."

Cons

"Dates. My goodness, working with dates in set analysis can be a nightmare! Much room for improvement."
"Customer service is decent. There is a lot of passing off to other techs during the escalation process."
"This solution would be improved by adding some Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL) components that are easier to interpret and design."
"Qlik Sense (as for ver 3.1) is still missing some key functionality that QlikView has."
"There is a direction currently with feature releases within QLik Sense which are focused towards the SaaS or Cloud offerings of Qlik Sense. This leaves those who have invested heavily in on-premise enterprise deployments in a difficult position to gain the benefits of some powerful new features they have to look to reinvest further towards these SaaS or Cloud deployments or bring in a hybrid model. Qlik provides no real split between what features are available in each of the deployment options."
"A valuable improvement for this solution would be the enabling of us to host dashboards for our customers."
"The product could be less expensive."
"Technical Support: 5/10 - really needs improvement, we can't be expected to spend large amounts of money in consulting fees every time we need something, especially when you're not providing training resources."
"There have been some issues; the product itself is going through the improvement stages and the newer versions seem to be more stable."
"It would be great to have more ETL capabilities so that the user can do more cleansing/mining on his/her side."
"An area of improvement, for sure, is the flexibility of the visualization."
"We definitely encountered issues with stability. We found a lot of bugs throughout the amount of time that we've been using the product."
"Don't waste your time. Lumira falls short of its competitors in this space both in capabilities and in ease of use."
"SAP Lumira's scalability is very limited. Every time we have to involve IT if there is a change in the dashboard."
"I'm not a fan of using SAP Lumira because it requires putting in a lot of information by keyboard directly because it requires some coding, so this is one area for improvement. From a user point of view, SAP Lumira is a complex system to learn and teach, so another area for improvement in the solution is that it needs to be more user-friendly."
"Each quarterly upgrade has new features, but then existing features tend to break. This is highly frustrating and affects existing Lumira documents."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Costs are a little high on the license/token side. However, if you look at the TCO, it is not too bad, particularly against Power BI."
"QlikSense offers a Hybrid environment architecture, which is very cost effective based on where the enterprise data resides."
"Understand the break over price point for switching to the Enterprise license."
"You will spend more time on educating your staff than licensing the product."
"You need to pay 5,000 Norwegian kroner per user. Microsoft Power BI is slightly more expensive than Qlik Sense."
"The license mechanism of Qlik is quite complicated and not exchangeable. Such as 2016, they charge licenses by token, 1500$ for a token / 1 user. 2018: they change to 2 kinds of licenses: professional 1500$ / user, analyzer 800$ / user. 2019: they support subscription with 70$ Monthly for professional, 40$ monthly for analyzers, but for those you’re using perpetual licenses, they don't support acquiring more subscription licenses. The maintenance fee yearly are also high, 20% of the perpetual license."
"I would rate Qlik's pricing four out of five."
"Qlik Sense and its pricing model can follow any scalability."
"PowerBI is way more capable at a much better price point: $10 per user without all the associated setup costs."
"In terms of cost, SAP Lumira is less affordable."
