Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Unified security monitoring has reduced alert fatigue and improves proactive threat hunting
I use real-time monitoring in ReliaQuest GreyMatter, which significantly improves my security posture. The unified interface helps reduce alert fatigue. I would estimate it saves around 20% in alert fatigue reduction. The automated threat hunting capabilities in ReliaQuest GreyMatter help me stay ahead of threats. The machine learning algorithm benefits my threat intelligence by providing deeper insights and predictions. I use various metrics to rate the success of the predictive threat intelligence in ReliaQuest GreyMatter.

Automation has reduced alerts and freed the soc team to focus on faster incident response
Regarding mean time to respond, the improvements I see with SentinelOne Singularity Complete are that genuine files also get alerts. We are getting false positives, but we are also getting genuine true positive alerts. The improvement will be deep visibility because as I am using Splunk as a SIEM, I compare deep visibility with Splunk, but deep visibility has limited access with only a 14-day policy to retain logs. The improvement will be in overall policy management. The third point will be the complexity of policies. If we want some endpoints to use only USB or if we need to block USB on some points, the policy management is very complex. The fourth point will be that Mac OS and Linux don't have the rollback policy; that policy is only for Windows. These four points are improvements if SentinelOne Singularity Complete can address them. Data privacy and security when utilizing Purple AI is crucial for SentinelOne Singularity Complete, and SentinelOne Singularity Complete lacks in data security. Data security is very important in this world. In my organization, if we deploy SentinelOne Singularity Complete and we have integrated all the firewalls, all devices, and AWS devices to SentinelOne Singularity Complete, logs will be forwarded to SentinelOne Singularity Complete through SentinelOne Singularity Complete. However, SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have data security solutions such as Forcepoint DLP or 48 layer; SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have that DLP solution. From the data security point of view, SentinelOne Singularity Complete is not good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The positive impacts I see from Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks include a complete 360-degree view of our security posture altogether, being a uniform platform where we are ingesting logs from multiple resources."
"Cortex Xnor's playbooks predefine the workflow of the automation, such as response processes, alert triggering, and enriching the context, collecting relevant indicators such as hashes, IP addresses, or domains efficiently and can detect and block malicious attacks with firewalls."
"Automation and playbooks have helped me significantly, as Cortex Xnor's playbooks predefine the workflow of the automation, such as response processes, alert triggering, and enriching the context, efficiently detecting and blocking malicious attacks with firewalls while eliminating workload and speeding responses for next-generation operations."
"Once you become familiar with it, Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is a more powerful tool and I would say that I prefer it over MDE because it is a stronger tool for me."
"I like the centralized console and the predictive analysis it does of malware. It is very stable and also scalable."
"They did what they said, and this solution could apply to any scenario."
"The dashboard is customizable."
"It detected stuff that other things wouldn't detect."
"ReliaQuest GreyMatter has helped us to reduce security incidents by 89%, which is a significant amount of incidents we have seen."
"ReliaQuest GreyMatter saves around 60% of time or resources."
"SentinelOne Singularity has hundreds of features. The most valuable feature of the solution is the ease of use and threat control."
"In the past, we were not able to identify a few viruses, but now we are able to identify them because of the machine learning feature."
"The solution is overall very good in terms of protecting endpoints and servers from malicious activities, malware, cyber attacks, viruses, worms, and so on."
"The overview is valuable. There are a lot of instances out there, but Singularity Complete cuts the noise down by giving us graphics and color-coding information instead of massive tech dumps. It helps us concentrate on what is actually needed versus just the noise."
"Being able to keep track of the endpoints and the data that is available from the endpoints is valuable. We can see the patch levels, whether Windows endpoints are active or inactive, and who is the last user that was logged on. We get a lot of granular information that is valuable even what we are not talking from a security standpoint."
"The best part of the agent is that users can't remove or disable it, so endpoints will be safe. I can control it from the portal. I can see when it's updated and I can push updates from the portal. The greatness of SentinelOne is that our end-users don't see anything to do with the agents. Some of them don't even know it's on their laptops. And that's a good thing."
"The ability to quickly and easily identify threats on our machines is valuable. The fact that it protects the environment as a whole is also valuable. They have the ability to identify network nodes, and they have Ranger as a component of the solution that allows us to see the whole picture. We can see on what we have SentinelOne and on what we do not."
"SentinelOne is preferred because of its great features and nominal cost."

Cons

"The onboarding process could be better."
"Although I would say this product is highly-rated, it could probably do more because nothing does everything that you want."
"The solution needs better reports. I think they should let the customer go in and customize the reports."
"It takes time to scan the servers and devices."
"It would be good if they could make an exception for applications. Sometimes, it can be a bit of a challenge to make exceptions for certain applications that have been used as rogue."
"Technology evolves every day, so it would be nice if it gets more secure. It can also have more integration with other platforms."
"It's not an ideal choice for smaller businesses, as you need a minimum of 200 endpoints to even use the solution at all."
"The GUI could be improved."
"Areas that have room for improvement include user interface and integration."
"A weakness seen with one large customer was that the detections were too intrusive, blocking many applications that should have been working, which led to many false positives."
"Their CASB tool needs to mature. I think there are some CASB vendors out there that have a dashboard tool that's much more mature than SentinelOne."
"I would like to see a better mobile app so that I could look through my phone at the alerts and not have to go to the website. They should make it a little more mobile-accessible."
"Managing the false positives creates additional management overhead. The behavioral analysis engine might misinterpret real user behavior as malware. For example, a drafter was cleaning up a Revit folder and deleting 4,000 files. That looks like ransomware. The SentinelOne agent kicked his computer off the network."
"While SentinelOne Singularity Complete effectively visualizes security data across our solutions, requiring extensive manual effort for analysis limits its effectiveness. I would therefore rate it a seven out of ten."
"Prior to the purchase and recent changes, experiences with SentinelOne's support and product were not positive."
"There is room for improvement with the management interface. It could be more user friendly."
"Interoperability with other SentinelOne solutions and other third-party tools is an area where you can run into some issues. Because of the way the agent works, there are sometimes things that are blocked or prevented from happening that are not identified as a threat, and therefore, not alerted in the console. Sometimes, we do have to dig through the logs, run tests, and adjust the whitelisting or exclusions to make sure that other applications will run properly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"It's the most expensive solution, but features-wise, it's quite strong. It's very good for protection, so the results are very good in the case of protection. I would rate it a two out of ten in terms of pricing."
"When we first bought it, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. The licensing was straightforward."
"In terms of the cost Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is very expensive because we are a Mexican company and when you translate dollars to pesos the cost is very high. The solution is very expensive for Mexican companies. I understand that they have international prices, but I do not think it offsets the price enough for many companies in countries, such as Mexico. The amount it is reduced is not a massive percentage."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"We didn't have to pay any additional fee for the cloud instance. It just came with the renewal, which was nice."
"It is present, but when compared to other competitive products, I would say it is not less expensive; however, when all of the other added values are considered, the price is reasonable."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
Information not available
"The pricing of SentinelOne is less than McAfee."
"The pricing and licensing make sense."
"The licensing is comparable to other solutions in the market. The pricing is competitive."
"The price is costly compared to what we were previously paying with Microsoft Defender and McAfee."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a fair price."
"Overall, it was a good experience. It is pretty easy for us to increase the number."
"The pricing appears to be pretty affordable."
"We are on a subscription model by choice. Therefore, we are paying a premium for the flexibility. We would have huge cost savings if we committed to a three-year buy-in. So, it's more expensive than the other solutions that we were looking at, but we have the flexibility of a subscription model. I think the pricing is fair. For example, if we had a three-year tie-in SentinelOne versus Cylance or one of the others, there is not that much difference in pricing. There might be a few euro or dollars here and there, but it's negligible."
