Enhanced threat detection with integrated security features and good support
We are using application firewalling, WAF, and SD-WAN. The capabilities are mostly within the box. For example, you will get web application firewall WAF as part and parcel of this. SD-WAN is also bundled. It integrates with their SIEM and SOAR solutions very nicely. Lastly, the pricing point is very cost-efficient as well.

Robust protection has blocked external threats and provides clear visibility into user activity
Sophos Firewall offers multiple features, including IPS, IDS, ATP, NDR, XOps, web protection, application protection, web server protection, and many more. Out of all those features, I find web protection and application protection to be very helpful and valuable in my daily work. Sophos Firewall has positively impacted my organization by preventing outside threats, allowing me to easily monitor my users, and configuring any rule for any user regarding what they need to use and what I am restricting for the particular user. I can share that it has improved productivity because if anyone could ransom my network, they could demand money to decrypt the files, thus saving us money, time, and providing reliability.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Sangfor NGAF works accordingly with our customers, the solution has good performance, is easy to use, and integrates well with the endpoints."
"It offers good value for money and is much cheaper compared to other firewalls."
"Particularly good in the DPI where we can inspect inbound and outbound traffic."
"The tool's performance is good."
"The solution is quite safe and good, and furthermore, it is very good for different environments."
"The product is very fast and reliable."
"The absolute best part of Sangfor NGAF is their support; it's a 24/7 support channel, and the last time I requested their assistance I got a reply within three minutes and they helped solve the problem immediately."
"In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated, and performance is also valuable."
"I have found configuring the ports to be easier in Sophos XG compared to the other devices."
"They seem pretty stable."
"Owing to the fast and adequate response time we get, we do not have complaints about the stability."
"Sophos XG is a firewall that I would recommend for people who are looking for good security in a medium-scale organization."
"The solution has all the security features you would need for any type of environment."
"Sophos has a centralized management system where I can manage and control all the Sophos firewalls at the same time."
"The most valuable features are its protection capabilities like threat prevention, malware security, web protection, and web security."
"I find DLP, API, IP, SDK, and web control to be valuable features."

Cons

"The solution should be able to work in a hybrid setup."
"The reporting and log management could be improved."
"The firewall system needs gradual improvements because there are more threats and challenges in the world every day."
"We have deployed many firewalls and have faced two or three faulty devices that we have to replace over a year because their power supply was faulty."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"It does not offer any recommendations on how to mitigate or control attacks."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here. There should be improvements in hardware scalability, allowing for more storage and memory capacity."
"The interface and user experience are horrible."
"I would like to see them in third-party evaluation reports like Gartner, Magic Quadrant, or Forrester to make it easier for us to show our customers that Sophos is a leader in the market."
"In my view, Sophos operates effectively in a reactive mode, focusing on static detection and forwarding traffic. However, Fortinet takes a more proactive approach, blocking both connection and route connections. While Sophos forwards any connection in both inbound and outbound traffic, I believe this is a positive aspect, especially in a country with various sizing considerations. This is my perspective, emphasizing the significance of Sophos XGS in software work."
"The solution’s reporting could be improved."
"The UTM itself needs improvement. When you're navigating it seems like it takes forever to load anything. The hardware is okay. It's just the software that could be more responsive."
"I need to open the email to see what it contains and the value of it before I know whether to access it or not."
"There are some bugs relating to the product that allow VPN users to bypass the firewall."
"The SD-WAN feature isn't very good. It's there, but it doesn't work properly."
"We'd like an interface that can monitor everything."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Sangfor NGAF is a cheaply priced product, especially if I consider the previous product that was used in my company."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"It costs about 8 to 10 thousand dollars per year for 500 users, standard licensing fees included."
"The price is unmatcheable."
"The solution has a TCO that is 32% to 50% less than Sophos, Fortinet, and SonicWall."
"The license of Sangfor NGAF can be purchased at different interval lengths, such as annually or three years. They offer a range of packages to choose from, such as combo or hybrid packages. We are using the complete solution package which includes IM, NGF and SSL VPN, and WAF."
"For over 2000 users, the cost is around 5000 to 6000 USD. If you want a web application firewall, you have to purchase an additional license for it."
"The price of the Sophos XG is very good. There are not any licensing costs, it is a one-time purchase price."
"The Sophos pricing, in general, is better than SonicWall, Fortinet, WatchGuard, or anybody else."
"The licensing cost is in the normal range and is not very costly."
"I rate Sophos XG’s pricing a seven out of ten."
"The price of Sophos XG is reasonable."
"The price is good and licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis."
"Sophos XGS is a very expensive solution."
"The price of Sophos XGS is less than competitors worldwide. However, in Turkey the solution is expensive."
