Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Drag-and-drop functionality makes the interface easy to use, but the technical support needs to be improved
There are not many people deploying models using this solution, which is a problem. I have done some cross-development and have found that when I am building models with the open-source software, the accuracy is better. For categorical data, the models built by SAS Emailer are very complex compared to those built by the open-source version. Technical support could be improved because they take too long to answer our queries. Models that are created are a block box, and you can't see the details.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We are satisfied with the technical support from SAP because when we reached out, we were able to get very good support from SAP colleagues."
"The features that I have found most valuable with SAP ERP products are their good user interface, stability, functionality, and good interface options."
"In the most recent release, the schedule publication was officially updated and it's been added on MS Office 365. I like how we had an EPM for B to C perspective; it's a great enhancement. Also, I believe the B to B connectivity has been improved. Android support for mobile is really good also. Power BI has always had android support in place, so manual support for SAP Analytics Cloud is also a very good feature."
"SAP is very scalable."
"The most valuable features are on the application side, where you can design applications into your analytics on the platform."
"The new Application Design option offers lots of customization options by being able to script in Typescript (similar to Javascript)."
"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. We haven't tried all of the features yet. The graphing and the ease of using the analytics tools have been great. It's all drag and drop; you don't need to code anything."
"The most valuable features are the visualization and user-friendliness; it's like a self-service platform, and if the connectivity is good then anyone can log in and use it."
"The most valuable features are forecasting and reporting."
"The most valuable feature is its flexibility and the ability to integrate with SAS."

Cons

"The price, integration, and modeling capabilities could be better. I have to use an integration engine to integrate our products and databases. SAP Analytics Cloud is made specifically for KPIs and business intelligence. The modeling capabilities are kind of poor. You always have to model the data and then present it visually in SAP Analytics Cloud. In the next release, I would like to have a lite version for planning to create scenarios quickly. For me personally, planning is the most complicated feature of SAP Analytics Cloud."
"SAP has always had one problem with its products, they make them very closed systems that are difficult to integrate."
"It's lacking a bit in maturity and we find we can't replace our existing mode 1 analytics tool until it's improved."
"The connection works only for importing data. Currently, there is no real-time integration between SAP Analytics Cloud and CRM. There are some features present in the classic but not in the optimized version. If I need to create something specific, I often have to switch the versions. It would be more convenient to have a single product that incorporates all the necessary features."
"Frankly, pricing, setup cost, and licensing seem a bit high compared to other hyperscalers, but if SAP works on that and provides some innovative options, it could improve and help them gain market share by reducing licensing costs slightly."
"AI doesn't work as well with SAP live connections."
"I rate the scalability as a seven out of ten, as the solution occasionally falls to pieces and requires us to tweak our scripting."
"There is not an easy way to migrate from our current BW reporting to SAP Business Data Cloud solution, so maintaining both solutions in parallel is necessary."
"Technical support could be improved because they take too long to answer our queries."
"If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions."
"I think that this solution should be more compatible with other software, including open-source solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is expensive."
"This solution offers value for money and you get what you pay for."
"Compute and storage features should be sold separately."
"SAP Analytics can be very costly to license, which can make it difficult for organizations to implement."
"It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
"They are pursuing a highly assertive approach to target businesses of all sizes within the industry."
"The price is competitive. There is a power user license and normal user license, but the normal user license is reasonable."
"The premium option is very expensive at five thousand dollars. I use the nine hundred and ninety-nine dollar option."
"If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions."
