Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

It reduces the downtime and migration time exponentially
I would rate SharePlex's high availability, and disaster recovery features highly. It works as advertised in terms of rapid fill-over and switch-over opportunities. It reduces the migration time for a multi-terabyte database to an hour or less because it performs real-time replication. SharePlex reduces downtime and migration time exponentially. Something that could take 12 to 24 hours is cut down to one to two hours. By the time you start to migrate, the only remaining replication is a slight difference in data from the point when SharePlex has shut down, and the application has to also switch over to the new database. It allowed the company to replicate data more transparently. Some of the business executives probably don't even know it's there. It works 100 percent of the time, with little downtime or problems. It provides what is needed. There's little concern about whether or not it functions. It's allowed the company to achieve its objectives with its clients, reducing and minimizing downtime for substantial migrations and upgrades. It can reduce hardware and storage costs, but my company doesn't utilize it with high-availability architecture.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The best feature of SAP Business Data Cloud is that it's a cloud-based solution, making it software as a service, and we save on the BODS license and avoid the costs associated with the Enterprise HANA 48 terabyte box while easily storing petabytes of data for significant cost savings going forward."
"It's many features make it the best in the market."
"The solution is stable."
"Data integration is very good."
"Visualization is quite seamless and awesome. Once the data messaging is set up, it's straightforward and simple to select how it should be displayed. So, that's another advantage of SAP."
"It is a comprehensive BI solution that provides reporting, planning, and predictive analytics in one solution. You don't have to buy three different products. It is very flexible. It can be implemented very quickly. It has a lot of out-of-the-box scenarios that you can use for quick deployment."
"Revenue has increased because of SAP Business Data Cloud, as we are gaining more traction and business."
"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. We haven't tried all of the features yet. The graphing and the ease of using the analytics tools have been great. It's all drag and drop; you don't need to code anything."
"The core features of the solution we like are the reliability of the data transfer and the accuracy of data read and write. The stability of the solution is also excellent."
"Because of the volume of the transactions, we heavily use a feature that allows SharePlex to replicate thousands of transactions. It's called PEP, Post Enhancement Performance, and that has helped us scale tremendously."
"The synchronization, data backup, and data transfer are all valuable features of the solution."
"Try it out in your production and you won't be disappointed."
"SharePlex has been a good fit for us because it was not as expensive compared to GoldenGate, it was stable compared to AWS DMS, and it was a good product for what we were looking for and within our budget too."
"It works 100 percent of the time, with little downtime or problems."
"I like SharePlex's Compare and Repair tool."
"The core replication and its performance. Performance is crucial, and SharePlex is by far the fastest. The way it handles replication to multiple targets along with basic filtering, as well as from multiple sources to a single target, is very efficient."

Cons

"Overall, my experience has been positive, but I think SAP Business Data Cloud could be further improved on onboarding experience for new users, because the platform brings together multiple concepts such as data integration, governance, modeling, and analytics."
"The platform could easily integrate with other ERP data solutions. Additionally, it should be faster compared to competitors in the cloud space."
"The initial setup requires some time to implement and could be more simplified for faster deployment."
"Currently, I find the DevOps features to be lacking in SAP Business Data Cloud, and I hope that upcoming versions will enhance DevOps capabilities and provide better structured and unstructured data support."
"I expect more integration from SAP Analytics Cloud."
"There is plenty of room for improvement. They have different products, and you need to integrate all of them to have one functionality. For example, data extraction happens in Datasphere. Then it would be best if you had some connection between the Datasphere and the SAP Analytics Cloud to get the data, as this is causing headaches sometimes. The knowledge base and Jedox also could be more meaningful. I have tried to search for some specific knowledge base and technology base, and I didn't find them. I have learned it by trial and error. There is room to improve the integrations between the different products. The AFS, and the Data action, need improvement. Sometimes they release new tools and updates, but not in my area."
"However, I must note that the process is quite lengthy. When it comes to purchasing or licensing, the account manager available in Saudi Arabia takes much longer to process."
"Though it's the best placed product when working with an SAP BW backend, it still lacks a lot of functionalities when compared to other tools such as Power BI or Tableau."
"The reporting features need improvement. It would be very good for users to have a clear understanding of the status of replication."
"I don't know how easy it would be to change the architecture in an already implemented replication. For example, if we have a certain way of architecting for a particular database migration and want to change that during a period of time, is that an easy or difficult change? There was a need for us to change the architecture in-between the migration, but we didn't do it. We thought, "This is possibly complicated. Let's not change it in the middle because we were approaching our cutover date." That was one thing that we should have checked with support about for training."
"For its function in relation to replication (i.e. filtering), I'd give it a six or seven out of 10. GoldenGate has much more functionality by comparison."
"I would like more ability to automate installation and configuration in line with some of the DevOps processes that are more mature in the market. That would be a considerable improvement."
"I don't know how easy it would be to change the architecture in an already implemented replication."
"The reporting features need improvement."
"I would like the solution to have some kind of machine learning and AI capabilities."
"I would like the solution to have some kind of machine learning and AI capabilities. Often, if we want to improve the performance of posting, we have to bump up a parameter. That means we need to stop the process, come up with a figure that we want to bump the parameter up to, and then start SharePlex. Machine learning and AI capabilities for these kinds of improvement would tremendously help boost productivity for us."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SAP Analytics can be very costly to license, which can make it difficult for organizations to implement."
"The pricing is based on an annual license and is rated a four out of ten."
"This solution is pricey."
"SAP Analytics Cloud can be quite expensive."
"The platform is about 50% more expensive than Power BI."
"SAP pricing tends to be premium, so it is slightly higher."
"It is a bit expensive, but really worth it, especially if you are already using other SAP tools."
"It's quite expensive and costs a lot to maintain, especially with licensing."
"It is not as expensive as Oracle GoldenGate and has worked really well within our budgets."
"It's really good value for the money. There are some things they could improve on, but in terms of the pricing, features, and support, as a holistic package, we are not thinking of anything else at this point in time."
