Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Management becomes easier with minimal complications, but improvement in support tools needed
Regarding areas of improvement for Symantec Endpoint Security, there are many changes, and the support portal tool is complicated compared to other tools. When trying to get service from Symantec, the process is complex. I'm not sure whether it's because of my project or something else. Though it is easy to manage, easy to get, easy to install, and works efficiently for managing policies, we faced a significant disadvantage. We wanted to add multiple hashes because of numerous new alerts coming, but we could only add them one by one, which is a considerable disadvantage in Symantec.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is an easy-to-use tool."
"If any application performs suspicious activities, such as changing registries or modifying other applications, Cortex XDR detects and blocks the entire application."
"The solution doesn't need a high level of technical training."
"The user interface of the solution is sophisticated and straightforward."
"They have a new GUI which is just fantastic."
"I like that the product has behavior-based detection which offers many benefits over signature-based detection."
"I like the centralized console and the predictive analysis it does of malware. It is very stable and also scalable."
"We can visualize and control the activities in the environment from anywhere."
"The two valuable features are anti-ransomware and data loss protection."
"The most valuable part of the solution is its ransomware backup feature."
"The convenience has been great."
"The update process and policy control are good."
"Seqrite Endpoint Security provides external protection in terms of hard drives."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"We were excited about the cloud-based management features of Seqrite and were looking to use the same."
"The solution is centrally managed, easy to configure, and easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is the automated updating feature."
"Previously scans were taking a long time, hours or even a day, but nowadays, when the product scans, the time taken is only 15 to 20 minutes for a full scan, which no longer affects the day-to-day work of users."
"Symantec Antivirus is a good anti-virus software with a very good scanning engine, an awesome-looking user interface, and very professional live support."
"This is a good product and other than with reporting, we don't have any issues with it."
"Some of the most valuable features were antivirus, malware, and spyware. They were really good."
"I would recommend this product because it is lightweight and consumes fewer resources."
"It's a single-agent installation with many features including wireless protection."
"The solution, especially in older versions, is quite stable."

Cons

"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good. I've been pleased with it in terms of what our needs are. It's doing what we want it to do."
"It tends to do 99.9% of things. The only thing I'd like is single sign-on authentication into their cloud platform so that my users can be properly authenticated against it."
"The MAC agent is not as robust feature-wise as the PC version."
"It's very time-consuming to log support issues and the people that answer the tickets aren't very knowledgeable."
"I would like to see them include NDR (Network Detection Response). Then it would work well with SIEM Response."
"It would be good if they could make an exception for applications. Sometimes, it can be a bit of a challenge to make exceptions for certain applications that have been used as rogue."
"The product's pricing needs improvement. They could provide more discounts. Additionally, the dashboard and control panel could be enhanced."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is not only pricey; it is extremely expensive."
"The cost of the solution can be improved."
"Endpoint Security would be improved by adding DLP."
"We would like the solution to have integration with other security solutions so that we can have a single base for monitoring all the security incidents and concerns."
"User management could be improved."
"It should be able to detect and report any ransomware attack but currently, it doesn't detect and it doesn't report any."
"The solution could integrate with other products to provide a comprehensive protection strategy."
"The interface is slow."
"Sometimes, small and medium businesses, or even startups with just five, ten, or fifteen systems, are also keen to secure their data. There is a reluctance on the part of the technical team to extend installation support when the opportunity sizes are smaller. Seqrite Endpoint Security has a lot of value. Still, its marketing could be done much better on a larger scale, especially in India, in light of the new DPDP 2023 Act, which the Indian Parliament passed. It would be even more valuable if Seqrite could incorporate features to help companies comply with this law, it would be even more helpful."
"As soon as we removed Symantec End-User Endpoint Security, the user did see a lot of improvement in their hardware performance, such as the CPU usage being lower and memory resources going down."
"There have been some complaints about the visibility of current licensing, as sometimes it does not show all the seats, and customers have trouble getting a complete overview of Symantec licenses."
"The enterprise edition does not report attacks on external devices."
"We are not satisfied with this solution. It needs a lot of improvements."
"The product must be uploaded, keeping all the sites with threats and virus signatures. We have to deploy or push EXE files to the endpoints like Kaspersky."
"The solution already has support for Windows, Mac, and Linux but it could improve by having better support for Linux. We have run into some problems when there are upgrades. If they can improve this point, Symantec would be good for endpoint protection as well as for a critical server."
"Sometimes the interface can be a bit cumbersome, and maybe the help features."
"Its GUI needs improvement. It's good, but it needs to be improved in terms of management and reporting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution has one subscription for endpoint protection and one subscription for detection and response. The two licenses combined give you the BRO version."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is an expensive solution."
"In terms of the cost Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is very expensive because we are a Mexican company and when you translate dollars to pesos the cost is very high. The solution is very expensive for Mexican companies. I understand that they have international prices, but I do not think it offsets the price enough for many companies in countries, such as Mexico. The amount it is reduced is not a massive percentage."
"If one wishes to work with another team or large number of users at a future point, he must purchase a license for them."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"The cost of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is $55 to $90 USD per endpoint per month."
"It is cost-effective compared to similar solutions. It fits for the small businesses through to the big businesses."
"The pricing is a little high. It is per user per year."
"Though I don't think that this is a cheaply priced product, I feel that it is an affordable solution."
"The solution has reasonable pricing. There is one pricing without any hidden charges. They have to pay once a year or three years."
"My company needs to purchase a yearly subscription for the licensing costs for Seqrite Endpoint Security."
"Endpoint Security is cheaper than Trend Micro."
"We pay approximately $1,500 for licenses for the solution."
"The solution's pricing is good for us, where it is neither cheap nor expensive."
"We get the tool for around 1200 rupees for a three-year subscription. I rate its pricing a nine out of ten."
"You need to pay for a yearly license for Seqrite Endpoint Security, which is expensive."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"When it comes to pricing, Sophos is preferrable to Symantec."
"We pay on a yearly basis..."
"The prices fluctuate, but this year I think it was maybe around $12,000."
"This is not the cheapest product and I know others that are most cost-effective, although it is difficult to compare because it depends on the features."
"The pricing is pretty much at the market standard... Symantec is not that cheap and it's not that expensive compared to CrowdStrike. I would put them in the 'middle block.'"
"It's pretty awesome price-wise. That's why we give it to most of our clients. It isn't very expensive. Compared to Cisco AMP, which is very expensive, its price is okay. It's also cheaper than Malwarebytes."
"We have some customers on a one-year license and others on a three-year license."
