What is our primary use case?
Workflow and DQL are the main use cases for Dynatrace (Private Offer Only). I have a requirement to gather fields from ServiceNow to Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), but these fields are not readily available in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent. I needed to gather the fields from ServiceNow and update them in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent. Although I am not proficient in JavaScript, I worked with a JavaScript developer to write code in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) workflow. Through that execution, I got the tags to Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent, and I created a dashboard based on user requirements.
I monitor cloud resources with Dynatrace (Private Offer Only). VMware and cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud have been deployed in some of my projects, and a few clouds are currently in use in my existing project.
How has it helped my organization?
Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) has aided in optimizing application performance across my environments by giving root cause analysis through Davis AI. Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) provides very clear information about performance bottlenecks and error budgets.
I am not able to answer whether Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) transaction-level insights have helped my organization understand interdependencies.
The key benefits that Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) brings to the table are faster root cause analysis and monitoring of applications, infrastructure, database, logs, Kubernetes, and cloud as full-stack monitoring. It gives end-to-end visibility for any application. Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) has a Smartscape topology where I can see all services, processes, hosts, and data centers in a single place. When I install Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent on any server, it gives wonderful information by auto-discovering complete applications, processes, services, hosts, and their dependencies. Everything becomes visible when opting for full-stack monitoring. Davis AI can detect anomalies before they become a major business impact, providing proactive monitoring. Mean time to resolution is reduced through AI-based analysis at the topology level. Automated workflows help my team resolve incidents faster. Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) also provides log monitoring, centralized log and data analysis, and can be easily integrated with ServiceNow ITSM. SLA and SLOs measure availability and performance against defined service objectives.
What is most valuable?
SLA, SLOs, and DQL are the best features in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) from my perspective. The host view and dashboard view in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent look great. Davis AI is an artificial intelligence-powered anomaly detection that gives very clear root cause analysis. When an event occurs, Davis AI provides step-by-step information. DQL allows intelligent querying and provides better visualization representation through creating dashboards.
I have utilized Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) AI Ops capabilities by using Davis AI and checking performance bottlenecks of applications. I track error budgets through SLO, which is a good feature. I have used SLOs and SLA concepts. Davis AI, workflow automation, and other AI features are areas I have explored.
I would assess the impact of Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) full-stack monitoring on user experience insights as being cost-effective at the infrastructure level. Full-stack monitoring gives a very clear and detailed application overview through topologies and Smartscape. It gives end-to-end information including data centers, applications, services, and host level, all shown on one page as a high-level view of topology in Smartscape view. Full-stack monitoring is a good feature in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only).
Everything in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) is useful, but I am not able to mention which feature is more beneficial specifically for the cloud. I do not remember what metrics were configured at the cloud level.
What needs improvement?
Technically, there may be a couple of areas for improvement in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), but I do not remember what specific improvements I can suggest. If Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) provided certification vouchers free for users on projects using Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) licenses, that would be beneficial. Earlier they used to provide vouchers, but now they have stopped. Certifications expire every two years, and the company has to pay again to renew them. If I could receive vouchers, that would be helpful.
From a features and functionality perspective, there is nothing currently missing in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) that I would like to see included in the future, or any functionalities that I would like to see enhanced. I appreciate Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) more than any other monitoring tool. Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) is a very nice tool. There may be one or two bugs somewhere, but those are not causing business impact.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) for 5.6 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I find Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) stable, but I experienced a major outage in AWS recently. We have both AWS and Azure. A significant impact occurred with thousands of alerts generated from data source issues on Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) side. It took almost two to three days, or at least two days, to revert back to monitoring. SaaS-based projects on the cloud were impacted.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I find Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) scalable, and I have not had any scalability issues with it.
How are customer service and support?
I evaluate customer service and technical support of Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) based on my experience creating tickets through the Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) portal. When I open a case, support does not take it as an emergency, and when I ask them for a call, they are not responsive and are slow to provide a call, even for Sev 2 issues. If they increase responsiveness to answer tickets faster with one-to-one calls, that would be beneficial. On a scale of one to ten, I rate the technical support of Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) as seven.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before using Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), I used AppDynamics and CA APM for monitoring observability.
I switched to Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) because a new project came up, I moved to another organization, and I got an opportunity to work with Dynatrace (Private Offer Only).
The key differences between Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) and other monitoring tools are that Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) is a host-based monitoring tool, whereas tools such as AppDynamics and CA APM are application-level monitoring tools. With other tools, different monitoring applications must be installed for Windows, Linux, AIX, and other platforms. Additionally, different applications require different monitoring for databases. With Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), when I deploy one application using Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) OneAgent, it starts fetching all available features from the server. It captures and provides data in a centralized view. This is not the case with other tools. This centralized approach is a good feature Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) has.
How was the initial setup?
Regarding the initial setup process of Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), I find it required a complete build from my end.
What was our ROI?
I do not find Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) cost-effective overall. I have been monitoring the license costs for each feature. Every workflow I use is chargeable, and log loading is also chargeable. Everything from logs loading to workflow creation to every DQL query is chargeable. This is a high cost. Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) should charge at the agent level and infrastructure level monitoring or full stack or RUM level and synthetic, but not for log viewing. Charging for viewing data that is already available in Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) is burdensome for companies and project teams. They should reconsider and reduce some costs. My project pays almost one lakh euros for a medium project.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Dynatrace (Private Offer Only) pricing is very high because it is a most-demanded tool. I have never compared this license cost with other tools, but given the demand, they charge a substantial amount. I do not have sufficient knowledge in the licensing part to provide more detailed information.
What other advice do I have?
Given my varied experience with Dynatrace (Private Offer Only), I would not share any specific advice or recommendations for other organizations considering it, as everything appears to be beneficial. I would rate this review as nine out of ten.
