What is our primary use case?

When it comes to Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy, I have used it as a collaboration tool since I was supposed to use it on one-on-one calls and on Google Chat. I have used the tool for pictures, specifically when you upload and share pictures.

What needs improvement?

The storage capacity of the product is an area that can be improved if it is made possible to increase it whenever you want. The features of the product are available without any payment, and I don't have any problem paying for some more features in the tool.

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

I use it at a personal level in my company.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase is straightforward.

For the product's deployment phase, you download the tool and run through the setup or the installation process.

The solution can be deployed in 30 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

Considering my experience with the product, I can manage its deployment process myself. Someone who is new to the solution may take two hours to complete the deployment.

What was our ROI?

Any investment attached to the product is not useless since you get what you pay for when it comes to Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy.

For people who want to collaborate and use Google apps, it is a fine tool.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the tool for servers. I don't think I have paid anything to personally use the tool. In general, I can say that I use a free tool. I don't think that cost is an issue.

I don't pay for the license. I use the product from my organization as you need a storage-based tool. My organization makes yearly payments towards the licensing charges attached to the tool.

I did not pay any extra charges in addition to the standard licensing model of the tool.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options against Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy.

What other advice do I have?

When it comes to Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy, I used Google Docs as a collaboration tool, since with it, you can collaborate with someone without any difficulties and track all the changes in it.

It is a good product, and I have seen a lot of improvements in it. I like the product.

It is easy to integrate, especially if I consider the fact that it gives me a single dashboard where I have all the applications or apps displayed.

I have recommended the solution to my friends and colleagues.

If someone plans to use it and they find some loopholes in it, there is a community that can help out.

I don't think that the implementation of the product has any impact on the users.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

Good UI and easy to navigate between projects and manage logs
Pros and Cons
  • "UI representation is the aspect I like the most about GCP, even more than Azure or AWS."
  • "Sometimes we face uncertainty when our internet connection gets disconnected. It becomes challenging to determine whether it's an issue with our internet or if the GCP has crashed."

What is most valuable?

There are so many things I like about this solution. It's hard to name just one, but I particularly love its user interface.

Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy has effectively gathered all the necessary elements there. You can easily navigate between projects and manage logs. The navigation panel allows you to switch between different services or centers, helping you figure out the available logs and configure them.

UI representation is the aspect I like the most about GCP, even more than Azure or AWS.

What needs improvement?

There are still many aspects I need to explore. However, there is room for improvement in terms of stability. Sometimes we face uncertainty when our internet connection gets disconnected. It becomes challenging to determine whether it's an issue with our internet or if the GCP SDP has crashed. We encounter such errors, but it's difficult to understand the cause. That's why I it is room for improvement, according to me.

In future releases, I would like to see a free version available for students and for those logging in as intermediates or beginners.

For how long have I used the solution?

For one of my projects that required deployment and CI/CD, we utilized GCP. It was mainly a DevOps-oriented task unrelated to my development work.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It was a stable solution. I would rate the stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It was a scalable solution. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is okay.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are a few things that are available for students' free tier. However, for students, the entire platform should ideally be free.

And it's not just limited to students; even some professionals who need to learn GCP, AWS, or Azure should have free access as partners.

However, I do understand that there should be charges when professionals create their accounts under the professional category. But for those logging in as intermediates or beginners, it should be available for free. It would be a valuable addition.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

A highly stable and easy-to-use solution that is affordable and provides a good return on investment
Pros and Cons
  • "We do not need to learn anything new to use the product."
  • "The product’s user interface must be more user-friendly and detailed."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for Gmail.

What is most valuable?

We don't have any on-premises hardware. It's just cloud. It's good overall. My overall experience is positive. It’s plug-and-play. We do not need to learn anything new to use the product.

What needs improvement?

The product’s user interface must be more user-friendly and detailed. It’s straightforward, but it could be much more elaborate.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for approximately three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution’s stability is excellent. We have had no problems with the stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have been using the product for three months. It scales without any problem. We have 200 users. We need one person to deploy and manage the tool.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used Microsoft Exchange on-premises.

How was the initial setup?

We need to use Google Chrome and connect our email and storage. We can do it by ourselves. We arrange a tutorial for every user in our organization. They have learned how to use Google Workspace, Google Sheets, Google Play, and Google Drive. We haven’t had any problems so far.

What was our ROI?

We get a very good return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay a monthly fee to use the tool. Google Cloud Platform is cheaper than Microsoft Exchange.

What other advice do I have?

I am learning Amazon, Azure, and Google Cloud to change my career from programming to cloud administration. We are using Looker for reporting purposes. We’re still deciding whether it is good or not. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Useful file storage, collaborative environment, and accessible from anywhere
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy are file storage, a collaborative environment, and easy access."
  • "Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy has certain limitations as a document or file management system, especially for non-workspace accounts. Manual management is required for most actions, and group management can be challenging. The process of managing permissions individually is time-consuming and not very efficient. For education purposes, the collaboration tools for working on files, assignments, and groups need improvement. The existing tools are inadequate and can be difficult to work with. Additionally, the grading books for teachers are not very useful and require improvement."

What is our primary use case?

The Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is utilized to store not only backup files but also actively used files. By storing all my files in Google, I am able to access them from any location as long as I have an Internet connection. One aspect that I appreciate about Google is the consistency of its apps for connecting to Google Drive across all platforms. This uniformity ensures that the functionality is the same regardless of the device being used, making it convenient to work with my files from any device.

For online teaching purposes, I employed the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy which proved to be user-friendly for my students to learn and navigate. It also proved to be an excellent platform for collaborative projects, even when individuals were unable to meet in person.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy are file storage, a collaborative environment, and easy access.

What needs improvement?

Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy has certain limitations as a document or file management system, especially for non-workspace accounts. Manual management is required for most actions, and group management can be challenging. The process of managing permissions individually is time-consuming and not very efficient. For education purposes, the collaboration tools for working on files, assignments, and groups need improvement. The existing tools are inadequate and can be difficult to work with. Additionally, the grading books for teachers are not very useful and require improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy for more than 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is excellent. In my 10 years of using the solution, I have only had it go down twice.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is scalable. My university used it for 50,000 people using it.

We have 110 people using the solution in my organization.

How are customer service and support?

I have used support once. The free version of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is subpar since there is no tech support available. Conversely, the paid version is exceptional with prompt and effective customer support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Box, Dropbox, and a home file server. I switched to the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy because my university used it and I did not want to use multiple solutions. Additionally, the others were more expensive.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is easy. However, it can be confusing for students because the help files could improve.

To sign up for personal Google One or Google Workspace, you can easily do so and make the payment on your own. However, for educational purposes, the process is more involved. You need to have a Google representative come out and give a presentation, and you have to learn the mock management which requires more effort.

What about the implementation team?

A single individual can deploy the personal version of the Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy. However, the education version requires assistance from Google or must be done by them.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is inexpensive for personal use.

What other advice do I have?

We have one IT administrator for the maintenance of the solution.

Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy is good for teamwork but not for an enterprise solution. It does not have business features.

I rate Google Cloud Platform Cloud Identity-Aware Proxy a ten out of ten.

It is totally awesome in terms of scalability and comes with a lot of features
Pros and Cons
  • "It is totally awesome in terms of scalability. Its scalability was the main reason for moving to Google Cloud. It also comes with a lot of features. We are satisfied with the features it has."
  • "We have some challenges related to purging the data. We get a lot of data on a daily basis that has to be refreshed on the site, but we are seeing some challenges with that. They can also include some third-party integration. We have one Akamai dependency. If they can come up with some API to talk to Akamai, it would be good."

What is our primary use case?

I work in a retail company. We have a physical data center where we use IBM servers. We want to get rid of them because every time we have a peak season, we have to add the infrastructure and then remove it when it is not the peak time. This process of adding the servers, taking notes, and bringing them down requires a lot of operational effort. There is a lot of manual intervention for adding the resources and configuring the servers, which is a lot of work for the company. That's why we are migrating all our applications.

Google Cloud will help us in getting the additional assistance just by clicking a button. We basically want to automate instead of doing manual interventions. It is an organizational initiative to move to Google Cloud. At least five to ten teams are involved based on each application and around a hundred people are involved.
