|---|---|---|
| Data Scientist at a manufacturing company with 5,001-10,000 employees | 3.5 | I use IBM Cognos Dashboard for data manufacturing, reporting, costing, and quality checks. The most valuable aspect is its data modules, though it could be more user-friendly with better documentation to enhance learning about the product. |
| Head of technical and projects at BI Dynamics Pty Ltd | 5.0 | I use IBM Cognos Dashboard in my company for its analytical and AI capabilities. It's easy to use and stable but lacks visualization options, which could be improved. We haven't considered other solutions or cloud providers for this use. |
| Freelancer at 0 | 5.0 | In my company, IBM Cognos Dashboard is primarily used for business reporting, especially in marketing. We value its performance, stability, and connection management. However, the scalability of the on-premises version needs improvement. It effectively meets our needs overall. |
| Project Manager at a recruiting/HR firm with 10,001+ employees | 3.5 | I value IBM Cognos for its on-demand reporting and speed. However, its high cost, individual licensing, and limited user-level dashboard customization are major drawbacks, hindering its competitiveness for many. |

The product helps us update the KPI automatically. We can access reports and analyze if a particular solution fits the requirements.
The product's most valuable is the concept of data modules.
IBM Cognos Dashboard could be more user-friendly. They should include proper documentation to learn more about the product.
We are using the latest version of IBM Cognos Dashboard.
I rate the product's stability an eight out of ten.
I rate IBM Cognos Dashboard's scalability a six out of ten. We have 20 users for it in our organization. We use it once a few days and plan to increase the usage.
The product's technical support services have average performance.
Neutral
The initial setup is complicated. I rate the process a four out of ten. It requires two executives to manage the product for 200 users.
The product is expensive for small businesses compared to other vendors. Its pricing is fixed and depends on the number of licenses.
I rate IBM Cognos Dashboard a seven out of ten.

We use IBM Cognos Dashboard in our company for its functionalities like analytics, dashboard, and some AI stuff.
The tool's valuable features are that it is easy to use and stable.
Visualization is an area where the product lacks. Adding a few more visualization options to the product can improve it.
I have experience with IBM Cognos Dashboard for about eight years. I think we use IBM Cognos Dashboard Version 11.
It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
It is a scalable solution, and to provide its scalability a rating, I would say that it would depend on how much data we push at it.
There are five users of IBM Cognos Dashboard in my company.
Though it is extensively used in my company, we do not plan to increase its usage.
The setup phase was easy.
The setup phase could be carried out in a day.
The steps for setup include installing and configuring a few components for integration, which can include the active directory and the mail server for alerts or notifications.
The product is deployed on-premises.
One engineer is required for deployment and maintenance.
The installation process was done in-house.
I recommend those planning to use the solution to get the solution and use it.
Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
In my company, the solution is mainly used for business reporting where the organization or the business team, especially the marketing department, or even data scientists can actually draw reports based on the data warehouse that has the data. The tool is also used as a dashboard to create more reports.
The most valuable features of the solution are its performance, stability, and the way to manage the different connections.
The tool is good enough to serve the purpose of what it is meant in our company.
The scalability of the product's on-premises version is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required.
I have been using IBM Cognos Dashboard for eight years.
It is a pretty stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven to eight out of ten.
I don't see any scope for improvement in the tool's stability, especially considering that we have not used a cloud solution, but the on-prem version has been okay till now. In our company, we do not see any kind of incidents or operational tickets with the support team when it comes to the tool.
The on-premises version of the solution is not scalable. I don't know if our organization has prepared a roadmap to move to the cloud. Right now, the scalability is all about adding more servers. The tool is not easily scalable as of now.
Only a few of the business users have access to it or create reports.
The tool is not extensively used because it is only used by business users once a month or during the period of business reporting.
I am not a full-fledged user of the product since I work more as an architect in my company.
The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.
There is no dedicated team for the tool's deployment and maintenance. The manager and the operational support received by users is partial since they don't work on IBM Cognos Dashboard full-time, though they also work for some other applications, because of which you can say only one person is involved with the product.
For reporting and data visualization, the tool is mainly used based on the data dimensions, which are stored in the data warehouse since it is where IBM Cognos Dashboard is used to bind the data and visualize the reports.
The integration with our company's business intelligence workflows is based on the existing connectors that IBM Cognos Dashboard has. I am not aware because I do not manage that in the application, but what I see is that it is mainly through the connectors that the tool is connected to the data warehouse.
The editor in IBM Cognos Dashboard is the most beneficial for creating an interactive dashboard.
The dashboard customization and the flexibility in the IBM Cognos Dashboard enhance data analysis since it has a graphical builder that is quite user-friendly for creating different dimensions.
I recommend the solution to those who plan to use it.
The tool is effective when it comes to integration with other data sources because it has the connectors to connect to different data sources.
The real-time data refresh in Cognos impacted my decision-making since the tool ensures more business benefits in areas around all the financial reporting or marketing trends of the users or customers, including the billing analytics to know what the RPU or to know the areas that can help in the marketing decisions while being able to create new portfolios or new products for the market. The tool is mainly for marketing and financial reporting.
I rate the overall tool a ten out of ten.
We are using IBM Cognos Dashboard to control the internal processes.
The main feature that is useful is the on-demand report generation through the dashboard.
The user can customize and build their own reports, as well as get their own reports with the filters on. This capability is probably restrictive on the other dashboard, such as QlikView. They get a particular set of data.
On the backend we have, but complete data hives from which the user can pull in the data as per their requirement, which is not possible with other dashboards.
The price point is one of the major areas to be improved. Compared to other products in the market, they are on the higher side. They're not competitive enough.
The licensing is another area that can be improved to be like other providers who offer a license at an enterprise level for a number of users rather than an individual basis.
For me, I would like it to be more customizable. Even the dashboard can become customizable, similar to the way it is in BI, where a user can play with it if all the metrics are there. They can build their own dashboard the way want to see. If that kind of flexibility can be present in Cognos, it would be helpful. Not every user would want to look at the data in the same way and would want to customize it.
If someone was a team owner, they would look at the dashboard from a team perspective, or if they were a site owner, they would look at it from a site owner perspective. It gives flexibility to users to change the interface, to their requirements. If they get that flexibility, I think that that is something that would be positive.
Customization at the user end, as in not at the development side, but on the user's side, is something that needs improvement.
I have been working with this solution for three years.
We are using the most recent version.
Cognos is better than QlikView because of the speed. With QlikView, it takes a couple of seconds for the dashboard to refresh or to reload the data.
This is not the case with Cognos, it's quick enough. The user doesn't know that the refresh has happened.
It is scalable. The only thing is that the other service providers have come up with an enterprise license strategy that is based on the number of users that you have.
With other solutions, we can get the license for the enterprise, whereas with Cognos it is on an individual basis.
I have not reached out to technical support.
We are still using multiple data solutions. We have not completely switched to Cognos.
There are certain parts of it that are being worked on through Cognos and others that we are working with QlikView or Tableau or Microsoft BI.
These dashboards are complex. They have more than a hundred data collectors or data columns that data goes into.
It takes a little while to deploy.
Licensing is based on individual usage, and it is more expensive than other providers.
Everything with Cognos is more cost-dependent. If I compare it with other products out there, such as Microsoft BI or QlikView, it's on a costlier side.
I'm not sure if a smaller enterprise could afford this solution. I would say it is currently because my organization is small for a large organization and we are able to use it.
I'm not sure if the smaller organizations are able to invest much in this particular product.
I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
