It is a very good tool, very user-friendly with its language, OPL, and it can be used by someone who has no idea how to code while also being very useful for someone who is very advanced in programming and has a lot of knowledge of the material, making it very versatile for a very wide audience.

If a university is seeking challenging problems in an area which is heuristic optimization or non-linear optimization, I do not think that CPLEX is the best software to do that.

You need to learn how to play with the settings so it doesn't crash. But if you run on the default settings and your program size is large, it might crash after about an hour.
