We use IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager for access management, including single sign-on. We also use it as a load balancer and reverse proxy to log into applications.
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager is a good solution. It's both stable and scalable.
What needs improvement?
It would be better if the administration and configurations were more straightforward. The architectural level is also quite complex.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager for a little less than two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager is a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager is a scalable solution.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support is good.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is very complex. There are many modules, and each must be installed separately. There are also upgrades, patch upgrades, and a lot more to do. The deployment time depends on the use case.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Our customers pay for the license every year or every three years. It's not available on a monthly basis.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is good, but it's pretty complex. So, I wouldn't recommend this solution to anyone without extensive security knowledge. The administration and configuration aren't straightforward. If the implementation takes up to six months, it will be costly.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager an eight.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
