Feature rich, easy invoice extraction, and good support, but it is lacking in pre-processing capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The ease that it provides in extracting vendor invoices, without having to configure them, was the reason for which we had gone with a solution."
  • "It was challenging to have to do the pre-processing and tax inputting on our own."

What is our primary use case?

We are currently using this solution, and are interested in providing services to our clients in the future.

We are using IQ Bot for the internal finance department. We are dealing with invoices from many different vendors.

What is most valuable?

The ease that it provides in extracting vendor invoices, without having to configure them, was the reason for which we had gone with a solution.

Feature-wise it's good.

What needs improvement?

We are working with IQ Bot, but we are not impressed with it. It works well with static documents but not otherwise.

It was challenging to have to do the pre-processing and tax inputting on our own. They didn't have a feature through IQ Bot.

The way you implement the pre-processing needs improvement. In many cases, the invoices that are received have the fax cover page, and with terms and conditions page. We have to input all of the pre-processing. It would be better to have it as a part of this solution, otherwise, every single invoice would be treated as a new document, even if it comes with terms and conditions and a cover page.

They still have a long way to go when dealing with a structured and unstructured environment.

Features are good, but when dealing with pre-existing models such as purchase orders, and invoice,s for example, the capabilities of the solution need improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with IQ Bot for approximately one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any issues with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable solution. The biggest challenge that we faced was with the configuration.

It's for an internal finance team and we don't have more than five users at this time.

How are customer service and support?

We have contacted technical support many times. They are very helpful and very responsive in resolving any issues.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

We had help from Automation Anywhere which made the implementation easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are cheaper solutions on the market, but it involves more negotiating.

Typically, everyone starts at a higher price and negotiate to a lower price to compare with other vendors.

The pricing is complicated but I wouldn't say that they are expensive.

What other advice do I have?

If it has to do with a straightforward structured form, this solution works very well. If you are looking at an unstructured environment with a lot of variety there is some instability in terms of ease of use. It may be better with the 2019 version, but it is something that should be considered before they decide to implement this product.

I would rate IQ Bot a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Offers native automation for the US but is too expensive
Pros and Cons
  • "I would say that the best feature is that it has native automation for the US."
  • "The first place it could be improved is its price - it is too high. I'm having a lot of difficulty moving it to the customers."

What is most valuable?

I would say that the best feature is that it has native automation for the US. At the end of the day, you still have to do the same amount of coding to actually pull that data into your code, but with the automation, you are sending it to part of the same kernel, or the same interface, and that makes it much easier. Because I've seen sometimes that they say that even ABI can go with BPA, at least according to the label. But with less than 300 BPA, I see that it's not really possible. Same with the kernel. If there are a lot of tables and frames, it messes it up. But that doesn't happen for IQ Bot.

What needs improvement?

The first place it could be improved is its price - it is too high. I'm having a lot of difficulties moving it to the customers. If they could fix that it would be awesome. Because the Automation Anywhere is hardware-intensive, it requires other set-ups, a control room, and it's already taking 16 GB of space. Then if I move to IQ Bot, and I have to set up another server for it, it becomes pretty expensive. And that is where the hardware cost comes in. So I think that if they could reduce the cost thing it would be really helpful.

I would say it is the best choice, especially if you're already on Automation Anywhere. They are working at implementing third-party tools. Right now, I am with the company, but before that, I was with another company as well as IQ Bot. A lot of people have purchased a lot of license work but they have not actually put it to good use, or they were unable to. So, it is a question of quality control. But then again, from a CTA perspective, I would say I know it is possible to increase the optical features, as well.

I am not referring to just character recognition, but for example, let's have the scanner import that image properly. Sometimes in a test it happens that the picture is a bit clearer. Or let's say a company logo. If a print is misaligned, it can figure it out. So I am more than happy regarding their automation technology.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IQ Bot for about four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The problem is that some of the invoices are very sensitive. If one of these invoices had bad handwriting it just fizzles out, so what has it accomplished? I think it should be able to scan while it is running itself. It should pop up and say, "I am unable to read this can you please help." In that way, we need more traffic to end-users. Then the bot clears one business invoice. But maybe you can have a guy in shipping who just got there while the bot is running, when these jobs start they post those really fast. The reading part might get confusing.

If the bot could just pop up and say, "look at this is the one that I'm confused with, can you please clarify?" If it could do that while the bot is running in IQ Bot, that would be super cool.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I think there are some security issues if you want to scale up. There are two versions - standard and deluxe, standard for basic bot and deluxe for interface with optical printing. So if you scale more than 20 bots, you have to buy more. We work on our commission anyway so you can have a thousand bots running from the same thing for you.

How are customer service and technical support?

I was in touch with support a couple of times. They are good. There are two parts to the support. One part is in India, where they recently fired a lot of people. The other part is in the US. That team is awesome.

The support guy I got was a champion. He's the one who helped me with IQ Bot to begin with. The point is that it is okay in terms of the system. But let's say there is a call for the controller. With some claims you should not give permission for virtual control because if the agent crashes it also crashes the other systems that are connected to it, which are not visible to them.

How was the initial setup?

I'll tell you the good part and the bad part of Automation Anywhere. Automation Anywhere is amazing for people who have a vision, a plan, and a strategy. People who know what they are doing and are technically sound. Because automation generally comes with a loss of a sense of control. You need to know to whom to give access and for what. Now the problem is that your computer is your own bot. Now what happens with the bot is that they don't necessarily need an architecture to run it. For Automation Anywhere you really need a control room, and a control room costs $7,000 to $10,000. That's what we get for my company. So that becomes a big roadblock.

Because you can just clear the bot, you can get it to stop. You do not necessarily have to connect to the conclusion to run the bot. I can put some code into the batch file and make it run while the bot is running. But you cannot fulfill your function there. So that is a pro and a con.

Specifically for IQ Bot, I would say the setups that I have done took me about seven to 10 days, at the most.

What other advice do I have?

I would say first to do another determination to see if it's worth it. For example, if you are a banking company and you tell me that I'll have a lot of checks that will need to be verified, I would say that's fine, because the format of the checks will be standard. Although you would have to identify the handwriting. But still, at least the amount of coding is easier. However, if you are doing B2B or B2C, and you have multiple invoices coming in to you, I would say don't do it. Because in India, they're very strategic. I can have a person actually putting it into Excel and then I can have a bot taking over. So that's why I already see that it's very important.

The technology should be business-oriented. So unless it is a high-ticket item they won't even talk to me, because business is first. So if you are trying to host a business on your product it is never going to fly. And the problem with automation is that it is close-ended, it is not initial.

They are pointed towards automated scenarios. You can download a version and do things, but they won't listen to the guys who write the code on the ground technical level. They have a different way of operating, because at the end of the day, it is just business. Their mindset is to catch on to the top-level bosses or leaders.

You can do it for a couple of months, or maybe a year or two. They launched version 7.3 two years back, all with multiple backers. In two years you are ensuring that you are out of date. Do you think any product with a life cycle of two years is worth it? I don't. You don't even get value return in two years. Because of the building of the bots, building on a higher component, it takes minimum three years or more to break even. And that is with your bot not completing your applications.

On a scale of one to ten I would rate IQ Bot a 7.

Identifies key information, simple model training, and useful built-in taxonomy
Pros and Cons
  • "Training the model is very simple with IQ Bot's technology. It requires providing several examples of the type of document you want to evaluate. IQ Bot already has a built-in taxonomy, which is like a dictionary of elements commonly found in certain types of documents. For example, when evaluating an invoice, you will find elements, such as "total," "item descriptions," and "shipped to." This pre-existing taxonomy greatly speeds up the training process as it provides a starting point and structure, rather than starting from scratch."
  • "The solution could improve by having more domain-specific templates, such as for documents other than invoices or contracts. For example, having templates for IDs or Passports."

What is our primary use case?

The IQ Bot use cases were mostly, in the realm of intelligent document automation, extracting data from documents.

The solution can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

One of our main uses for IQ Bot is in the processing of invoices. We have a customer that receives invoices from their suppliers and needs to validate that they are valid invoices. In order to do this, they check for the purchase order reference on the invoice. If the invoice matches a pending purchase order, the customer then checks for several other factors, such as if the cost center is valid, if the amounts match the quote, if the individual prices match what was agreed, and if the location of delivery is correct. If all of these factors match, the invoice is accepted. If not, the invoice is denied and a reason is provided. With IQ Bot, we are able to automatically read the invoice, understand all of these variables, and make decisions based on them. Without IQ Bot, we would not be able to identify the key information needed to make these decisions.

What is most valuable?

The solution could improve by having more domain-specific templates, such as for documents other than invoices or contracts. For example, having templates for IDs or Passports.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used IQ Bot within the last 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has not failed us before.

I rate the stability of IQ Bot a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 20 users using this solution. We expect our customers to use this solution more in the future. As the solution delivers value, the customer will look for more areas to automate.

The solution is robust.

I rate the scalability of IQ Bot a ten out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I have used the support and once you have the right channels, they are very straightforward.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of IQ Bot is straightforward.

The number of people required for the deployment will depend on the scope of the project. For instance, the invoice project used to require six people to review the volume of invoices customers had, but now only two individuals are needed for reviewing and retraining. The remaining staff has been reallocated to other tasks within the department. However, the number of people required will depend on the scale of implementation. Typically, our team consists of three individuals, a consultant who works with the solution hands-on, an architect, and a developer.

What about the implementation team?

We implement this solution for our partners and customers.

What was our ROI?

Our customers have received a return on investment. It is the easiest return on investment to provide to a customer.

The benefit of using IQ Bot for document-based tasks is that it's easy to measure cost savings. By evaluating the number of documents processed and the time it takes, it's simple to assign a dollar value to each document. This is very attractive as it allows for the automation of tasks that were previously too complex or time-consuming. For example, in the invoice process we worked on with a customer, they needed to validate certain information in the packing list, such as the weight and units of the items being shipped. Before, they were not doing this extra validation because it was too complex and they assumed the importer would get it right. However, with IQ Bot, they were able to automate this validation and save time and money by being proactive instead of reactive. The technology makes it easy to provide a clear ROI.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of IQ Bot could improve by being less expensive.

As a provider, my perspective may be biased. However, the pricing is reflective of the complexity and capabilities of the technology. The more complex the extraction needs, the more sense it makes to invest in IQ Bot. The platform, which is integrated with Automation Anywhere, offers added value that sets it apart from other solutions. For companies that need to address both simple and complex situations, the pricing may be reasonable. However, for those only looking for a narrow solution, it may seem expensive. This is usually reflected in our customer base.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others is for them to test out the solution. Subscribe and practice using it, you'll be amazed at the things you're able to do by yourself.

IQ Bot was the first to tackle the problem of data extraction on documents, and it set the standard for others to follow. While other solutions have since emerged and improved in certain areas, IQ Bot remains the leader in the market. For us, it's a comprehensive and complete solution that has everything we need.

I rate IQ Bot a ten out of ten.

Has the ability to train itself and is stable but needs improvement in handwritten data extraction
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to train itself is a good, valuable feature. It is one of the most stable RPA products at present. Installation is easy for IQ Bot, and they provide good technical support."
  • "IQ Bot needs to scale up further because many other industry products that are capable of capturing handwritten information are doing much better. So, it would be better if IQ Bot spent more time on handwritten data extraction."

What is our primary use case?

We used it with a construction company that was doing manual time sheet entries that had to be given to HR by the end of the day. They would then translate the time sheet data into digital data to process payroll, attendance, and so on. So, we were tasked to get that particular time sheet and then use the IQ Bot solution to automate extraction of data and further processes.

What is most valuable?

The ability to train itself is a good, valuable feature. It is one of the most stable RPA products at present.

Installation is easy for IQ Bot, and they provide good technical support.

I'm also happy with the pricing.

What needs improvement?

IQ Bot needs to scale up further because many other industry products that are capable of capturing handwritten information are doing much better. So, it would be better if IQ Bot spent more time on handwritten data extraction.

Some of the features that are currently existing could certainly be enhanced. The ability to define the coordinates on the screen, on the documents that are being scanned, was a little less when we did the proof of concept. These kinds of features could be enhanced a little more. It looks a little rigid at this point in time, but it could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using it during the last 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is the most stable RPA product at the moment.

How are customer service and technical support?

Automation Anywhere's technical support has been very good.

How was the initial setup?

Implementation of IQ Bot was easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is on a yearly basis, and I am happy with the pricing.

What other advice do I have?

Compared to UiPath or Blue Prism, IQ Bot is the most stable RPA product at the moment. Automation Anywhere has come a long way.

If someone is straight away looking at IQ Bot as a potential solution, I would suggest that they do a proof of concept and see their ability to scale their particular process. Each and every process, business process, they bring will be different. So, it's good to start with the proof of concept and then scale according to the need.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate IQ Bot at seven.
