Has improved document scanning accuracy with advanced OCR capabilities
IBM needs to improve on scanning and reading accuracy for unstructured documents. Additionally, an important missing feature is the ability to merge documents and present data across different UI screens. This is especially beneficial for customer onboarding where documents are scanned not all at once but periodically. Incorporating automation could also aid in this area.

Valuable connectivity and coherent solutions simplify maintenance but require cost adjustments for industry-based needs
There are areas of improvement, especially in having industry-based solutions that we could easily tap on. It would help reduce the time spent on feeding information and creating outputs. More flexibility and specific models for specific purposes would be beneficial. Additionally, pricing is a concern as IQ Bot is considered costly.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"There's something that's very unique about IBM DataCap. It provides me with a good solution for extracting, reading the QR codes, and scanning them. In this stage, we are working in a UIT phase before implementing this protocol in all our branches. From my initial observation, IBM DataCap is good, it is not working too fast, but in a good manner for us."
"I can have all scanners accessible from my end."
"One valuable feature of IBM Datacap is the OCR capability, along with its ability to read fields from documents."
"It helps companies figure out how to use advanced imaging techniques, processes, best practices, and other tools."
"It's resiliency. There are multiple ways of identifying what you are looking for. There are multiple export formats."
"It reduces human error and saves time."
"I work for an insurance company, and we use Datacap for document processing."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to capture data, which changes all the time into different formats."
"IQ Bot's connectivity to various cloud service providers is beneficial."
"The flexibility to deploy based on the different types is the most valuable. We can deploy pieces of the program directly over the fields. We can also directly connect with databases. We can modify it and make different connections with the database. We are also able to programmably modify the fields and change the presentation and values or evaluate a list of values. We can change the values on the fly. It is very flexible and very easy to use and learn. It is also very simple."
"The most valuable features are rapid development, stability, and ease of use."
"The most valuable feature is the cognitive ability, as it will learn an interface that it is not familiar with and perform in the way that a human does."
"Good templates means that all basics are pre-defined."
"In my experience, the product is very stable, and it works well with systems like JDE and Mainframes."
"I personally feel that the c-extraction feature is valuable. After training it for a particular document, we can see the extractions there. Other than that, it has other features like Python scripting in-built, and these are the features that I feel stand out."
"What I found most valuable in IQ Bot is its stability because it's now getting very much stable. Automation Anywhere is continuously enhancing this product. Initially, while my team was doing the PDF automation training in IQ Bot, sometimes, the solution doesn't extract the data, but now, you can easily group the software in different folders and you can integrate with TaskBot easily. Another valuable feature of IQ Bot is data extraction. The solution makes it easy to fetch data and extract data from PDFs. Without IQ Bot, it's very tough to do PDF data extraction. Now, I can extract data from more than five hundred templates easily through the solution. I also like that IQ Bot has great functionality."

Cons

"The interface can be more intuitive."
"Third-party integration could be improved; it's very slow."
"Currently, when you are entering invoices, you have to enter multiple rows. In Captiva the multiple rows will be dynamically added. This would be a beneficial feature for IBM to add."
"Reporting and analytics seem to often be something of an afterthought. With Datacap, they've started building out some dashboards, but one thing we hear from our clients a lot is, "Well, gee, we really love reports. What Datacap has is not really helpful. We'd like something better. We'd like more dashboards." That's one area where we've seen some feedback that the product could do better."
"The reading efficiency of the solution needs to be improved."
"Its weaknesses are primarily tied to the lack of available resources and expertise in the market to effectively support and provide solutions and services to each customer for seamless implementation. Expertise in this specific product is rare throughout the market. One key reason is the product's limited downloads. Additionally, archiving solutions are often perceived as complex and challenging, dissuading many companies from venturing into this domain. Consequently, partners who specialize in archiving solutions are always seeking straightforward, uncomplicated options that are easy to manage and meet customer expectations."
"IBM needs to improve on scanning and reading accuracy for unstructured documents. Additionally, an important missing feature is the ability to merge documents and present data across different UI screens."
"The technical support is horrible. They have downsized the support teams too much. They've outsourced some of them along with some of the development, and they're just stretched too thin."
"The success rate must be improved."
"Better customization in terms of mapping would be an improvement."
"There are issues with the technology identifying a signature."
"We face a few data extraction challenges when we use a huge data set with different formats."
"The log scripts can only be written in Python, there is no compatible language."
"The user should be able to update the data libraries."
"The first place it could be improved is its price - it is too high. I'm having a lot of difficulty moving it to the customers."
"IQ Bot uses an API OCR engine. At times, they can't accommodate some text in Korean. Also, Korean characters are not cognitive at times."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You save a lot of time and money, but the benefit is you have people who are able to run the systems, check to see if there are any errors at all, and there are a lot less errors than a human system."
"IBM could offer more competitive pricing. This would allow them to attain more users. Some of our clients are considering moving to a different solution called Encapture which is similar but offers more competitive pricing."
"Pricing depends on how much we use it. We pay per bulk quantity. We pay as you go. Therefore, it sort of depends on our usage of it."
"In Egypt, we have exchange rates that change year to year, and currently, we're facing an increase in the exchange rate between our Egyptian pound and the dollar. Since we have been using IBM DataCap two years ago we had a good price, it was not expensive. However, I cannot say now if it is expensive or not because of the exchange rate. Additionally, I don't have the data of other competitors and I don't know the prices."
"This solution offers seamless integration with other enterprise products, which is my area of responsibility, focusing on government sector projects. Larger enterprise projects don't pose problems. It might be suitable for small businesses as well."
"It is an expensive solution."
"Pricing needs to stay competitive."
"It varies, and it depends on the client's requirements and negotiations. Nowadays, Datacap is also included in the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation."
"IQ Bot's pricing is reasonable compared to other solutions but should be decreased further."
"With the Cloud, the price goes up and down. You only pay for what you use."
"The licensing is under usage per page, and I wouldn't recommend it."
"Pricing is highly confidential because it is something that can be negotiated."
"Solutions from Automation Anywhere are expensive."
"The solution’s hardware cost is high."
"There are more affordable solutions than this."
"It is based on the stages and on a yearly basis."
