I use LanceDB for intent detection for the bot and for managing the knowledge base. When you upload a bunch of text to the bot, it will use that to know what to say when the user presents a request.
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
LanceDB has improved our organization. Originally, I used RediSearch, which was complex because the app had to call an external service. Since everything is local with LanceDB, latency is almost nonexistent, and there has been an improvement in performance, accuracy, and reliability.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature of LanceDB is its simplicity. I've tried other solutions like Pinecone, but LanceDB is very simple.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using LanceDB for one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I haven't encountered any stability issues with LanceDB.
I rate LanceDB a nine and a half or ten out of ten for stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
A few thousand users currently use LanceDB in our organization, but that number might increase substantially because it just rolled out an update.
I rate LanceDB a nine out of ten for scalability.
How was the initial setup?
The solution’s initial setup is very straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
LanceDB can be deployed in an hour.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment with LanceDB.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am using the community edition of LanceDB, which is very cheap.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing LanceDB, we evaluated other options like Milvus and Weaviate. We chose LanceDB because of its simplicity, very good documentation, and low research consumption.
What other advice do I have?
LanceDB is deployed on-cloud in our organization. I have only utilized the community-specific version. They have a server-client version that might actually be useful for a lot of other people. I just needed the direct one, which works quite well for me. I don't know how good the server client version is yet.
Overall, I rate LanceDB a nine out of ten.
