McAfee Complete Data Protection Reviews

My major use case for McAfee Complete Data Protection is for DLP. McAfee Complete Data Protection helps to prevent data exfiltration, and I only use the tool for DLP. I don't use it for AV or any sort of threat prevention. I'm not using McAfee Complete Data Protection for role-based access.

If I had to say one or two things about McAfee Complete Data Protection that I think is the best for me or makes the most positive impact, it would be that McAfee Complete Data Protection is the cheapest solution in comparison to some of the other tools out there.

The tool itself comes in at a certain price point. I was looking at Microsoft for a DLP solution because they also do it, but at the time, they just didn't have that feature parity. McAfee Complete Data Protection has its own encryption version, and it works independently. It works on Apple Macs and it works on PCs, so it's more beneficial for us.

On a technical level, when I draw a comparison between McAfee Complete Data Protection and CrowdStrike, McAfee Complete Data Protection is a one out of ten, and then CrowdStrike is a ten out of ten.

I say that technically McAfee Complete Data Protection is so low because the console and the portal haven't changed in almost ten years. It's had some slight visual improvements, but that's it. It's not really working in a modern portal the way that some of the enterprise apps like CrowdStrike actually work.

McAfee Complete Data Protection is also very difficult to use. It takes a lot of time to get my head around how it actually operates. It's not very intuitive. However, in terms of pricing and the specific use cases that I have, it's good.

I've been dealing with McAfee Complete Data Protection for over ten years.

I have dealt with technical support from McAfee Complete Data Protection. It just depends on where I get the person. If the person is based out of the USA, they're usually very technical and very responsive. If I get a technical resource from any other part of the world, they're terrible.

Technical support in general from McAfee, I'd probably give them a six.

I've spoken to support engineers out of the USA, and they're excellent. They know what they're talking about. They're passionate about the product. Everyone else is sort of asking to 'provide logs' or 'explain the issue more'. It's just too hard.

Positive

The initial setup of McAfee Complete Data Protection itself is difficult. There's a three-hundred-page user guide. It's not an easy approach.

I'm comparing it to CrowdStrike.

I'm already covered in terms of my IT needs, but I do at the moment already want to speak to you in respect to that.

In terms of Microsoft BitLocker, that's part of licensing already, so I'm not sure what that's about specifically. In terms of McAfee Complete Data Protection, I've got part of the McAfee suite on an enterprise level.

I'm a law firm, and I use McAfee Complete Data Protection as a customer. I purchased McAfee Complete Data Protection directly from McAfee via one of their authorized resellers.

McAfee Complete Data Protection itself is good. I haven't logged any support tickets in the last twelve months.

The biggest problem is with McAfee Complete Data Protection, and why I haven't raised any support tickets, is because I haven't touched it.

I haven't upgraded any of the available updates on the endpoint for McAfee Complete Data Protection. I haven't updated the ePO console on the new server. It's just been stagnant. So I'm assuming that when I do the upgrade across the endpoints and also on the ePO server, it is going to impact usability and I'm going to have some support issues. That's where we are at the moment.

On a scale from zero to ten, I give McAfee Complete Data Protection a rating of six.

McAfee Complete Data Protection is used for scanning our operations, which runs in the background. All updates are completed remotely by IT support, and McAfee Complete Data Protection is running continuously. As an individual, I cannot do anything about it.

The most valuable features of McAfee Complete Data Protection for data security teams include complete access to personal computers at home, which is why we do not worry about viruses. It is very effective; for example, the Internet is clean with no virus paths. The value and benefits from working with McAfee Complete Data Protection include keeping up with details and maintaining security from attacks. When we link to the company instance, sometimes web pages can open automatically.

The changes I would suggest for McAfee Complete Data Protection involve its global control capability. I am used to a comprehensive solution that extends beyond just branch or local office operations.

I would rate the stability of McAfee Complete Data Protection as neutral because we use it where I cannot do anything; everything is not in personal control.

I would rate the scalability of McAfee Complete Data Protection as good; I am confident it is good.

My impression of the technical support of McAfee Complete Data Protection is favorable.

The setup for McAfee Complete Data Protection is straightforward as it operates in the background. However, there are prompt messages during installation. The installation takes approximately three hours and requires just one click, though it is automatically controlled by IT. It is not bad; we decided to install it as a major implementation.

For the deployment and maintenance of McAfee Complete Data Protection, there are fourteen persons in the company.

I have no idea about the ROI of McAfee Complete Data Protection as I cannot see it. I do not know the details; this information is from the IT department.

I am not very clear on whether McAfee Complete Data Protection is expensive or if it could be cheaper.

I would rate McAfee Complete Data Protection as providing protection above expectations; it is very stable. The advice I can give to others who want to start using McAfee Complete Data Protection is that as a huge company that has used it for many years, the solution must be very fixed to our requirements and the interface of the product we develop and provide to customers, because it is very stable. I am not sure how the encryption of McAfee Complete Data Protection impacted my compliance with data protection regulations. I have not seen any notable trends in data protection, and McAfee Complete Data Protection has not evolved to address this transfer. I have no idea whether I need to pay for a license for McAfee Complete Data Protection yearly or monthly, though it may be yearly because there are some data lessons every year. There are more than around ten thousand users of McAfee Complete Data Protection, maybe eighty thousand. My overall rating of McAfee Complete Data Protection based on my experience is that it provides strong protection and stability to our organization.

For any type of protection strategy, the natural use cases involve protecting sensitive data that shouldn't be public.

For instance, in financial organizations—or really any organization with sensitive data—there’s something to lose. This is the type of data that you don't want exposed to the public, something that should be classified as confidential or for internal use only.

Especially from the perspective of employee data, such as pay slips, this is critical. For example, if you and I work in the same organization, I should not be able to see your pay slip. Within the organization, there should be a classification level where data is categorized as internal, confidential, etc. My pay slip should only be viewable by me and the finance manager, not by any other employees or third parties.

You want to classify your data, which can be done with the electronic data classifier, or you could leverage a third-party classifier like Titus or Boldon James Classifier. Both integrate very well with McAfee ePO and Trellix Data Protection, whether on-premises or in the cloud. They also integrate with Kaspersky or even Microsoft ERP, allowing data classification. Additionally, the out-of-the-box classifier that comes with the product can be used.

By configuring policies, you can ensure that sensitive data is not shared with unauthorized individuals. For example, you can prevent sensitive data from being uploaded to the cloud, shared via email, sent to a printer, or copied to a USB stick. Protecting data, whether at rest, in motion, or in use, is essential.

For USB sticks, you could implement protection by encrypting them using McAfee Removable Media Protection. For data at rest, encryption can be achieved with McAfee Drive Encryption. On Mac OS systems, you might manage native encryption or leverage BitLocker for encryption, ensuring that your systems are encrypted and that encryption keys are properly managed.

These are basic use cases that any organization can leverage. It's not just for large organizations—any organization that is serious about securing its best interests should consider implementing data protection.

The DLP strategy is very, very key to the data protection strategy. You have your drive encryption and your File and Removable Media Protection, but without DLP, your data loss prevention strategy is far from complete.

DLP is actually massive because it covers everything from endpoints to the network and even to the cloud. It depends on how much visibility you're looking for. If your data is in the cloud, the huge question is: how much of that data do you have visibility of? If you have data on-prem, on mobile storage devices, or servers, do you have visibility into that data? Do you even know where your sensitive data is sitting? Can you do data discovery research?

Without DLP, you literally feel lost because you don't know where your data is. For example, I work with XYZ organization, and I have sensitive data on my system, but you don't know it's there. With a simple discovery scan, you can actually discover that there's a sensitive document sitting on my system. With a simple remediation, the user can request that all sensitive data be moved to a particular folder, probably on your file server. This way, you recover all sensitive data sitting on individuals' laptops or desktops and move it to central protection.

Once you've classified and done remediation on that data, you can say for sure that you don't have any sensitive data sitting on laptops or desktops within your organization, except in the file server that you control. You can also decide not to move those files but to restrict the user from sending the document to a competitor. Maybe you create a policy that ensures the document can only be sent to employees of the organization. You can also ensure that the user cannot send the document to OneDrive, Google Drive, or anywhere else.

Now, there's a limitation, and this is where cloud instances come into play. For example, if you're using Slack, you'd know that you have to consider API integration with Slack to extend that protection fully to the cloud. This is where the relationship with Trellix and Skyhigh comes in. What we're discussing today with the suite you're mentioning is just endpoint security; we're not looking at cloud security.

Every feature is important in its own way.  For example, if you look at encryption, McAfee Drive Encryption encrypts the hard drive. The only way you'd realize the drive is encrypted is when an authorized user logs in. You probably wouldn't even know the drive is encrypted until, for example, someone steals the laptop and tries to access the hard drive to extract information. They would find that they don’t have access because all the files are encrypted.

Now, that's great, but it stops an unauthorized user from accessing the drive and potentially sending out confidential documents or data. This is where your DLP (Data Loss Prevention) endpoint comes into play. With it, you can configure policies to prevent users from sending sensitive data via email or syncing it with their OneDrive, Google Drive, or similar services.

If you rely on just one product, like drive encryption, you might have some level of security, but you're not covering all aspects of protection. For example, drive encryption secures data at rest, ensuring that if someone steals the drive, they cannot access the data because it’s encrypted. However, if someone tries to send that data elsewhere, drive encryption alone won’t stop them.

With File and Removable Media Protection (FRP), you can secure portions of folders, ensuring that when sending an email, only the intended recipient can access the attachment. If the user already has the necessary clearance or if it's an internal document with specific access permissions, they can view it. This extends your protection from just data at rest to data in motion and data in use.

Moreover, preventing sensitive data from being sent to OneDrive, flash drives, or similar storage can only be achieved with DLP endpoints. At the end of the day, there are three major protections in this suite that are crucial. If you have one and not the others, you might protect sensitive data, but only in one aspect—whether it’s data at rest, data in motion, or data in use. You can’t achieve comprehensive protection with just one product.

The only thing that I think could be improved is the data classifier. It's not a very robust classifier, which is where its limitation lies. For example, you see a lot of higher-end solutions where people can classify data more effectively, adding labels like transcription labels and such. McAfee’s classifier doesn't handle all those tasks.

It doesn’t offer the same level of functionality as other data classification tools. You can't do things like fingerprinting and other advanced classification methods. However, if you were to make it more robust, the product could become too heavy to run effectively on endpoints and servers.

So, to be honest, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that could be added. I think it's a great solution as it stands. If anyone wants extended data classification, they can leverage other tools like Titus, Fortra's Classifier Suite (previously known as Boldon James Classifier), or even Microsoft AIP if they have the budget. You can also leverage Trellix to enhance your data protection.

From my point of view, McAfee Complete Data Protection is one of the best solutions out there, if not the best, to be honest.

I've worked with a whole lot of McAfee products, and this is actually my tenth year working on McAfee. 

Generally, I've worked with McAfee products for about ten years now.

It’s quite stable. It might not be the best solution in that space, but it’s very stable. If we’re talking about endpoint security, the conversation might be different. But for data protection with Trellix or McAfee, it’s very stable. It’s one of the products that has been stable for a long time. 

Even when you extend it to solid core and database activity monitoring, those products have been very stable as well. All the data protection products with McAfee have been really stable for many years. 

I’ve not seen any issues. Nobody [my customers] has installed the protection and come back saying the product is not stable.

For data protection, I have never really had to leverage support.  I’ve not had to deal with support on any of the products.

I work with TriNet in Africa. We're actually a distributor, so we're partners with McAfee.

McAfee enterprise is now Trellix.

All McAfee or Trellix products are not easy to install or set up. They aren't straightforward, and that's where the competition has an edge over Trellix today. When I worked with a partner company, many of my colleagues moved to end-user environments and found Trellix—formerly McAfee—too stressful. Most of them preferred working with Microsoft because it's simpler. Setting up Trellix involves a lot of steps, like x, y, z, which can make it challenging.

From my perspective, it's not that difficult, but that's probably because I've had a lot of hands-on experience. Maybe I haven't seen how simple other solutions can be. But, there's always a vulnerability in simplicity. It's hard to create something simple without some level of vulnerability.

Personally, I think there's a balance. It's not too difficult to set up if you understand what you're trying to do. Once you get your data classification right, the data protection policies are very straightforward to set up. You just click through without doing anything too serious, provided you have your data configuration correct.

If you have the financial capacity, you can leverage a third-party classifier for active data classification. The data protection policies are very easy to set up and apply. I haven't encountered any cases where a policy fails due to a product issue. I've rarely seen any product issues with Trellix DLP.

I also like the way they handle evidence management, even in the cloud. You can integrate with AWS to keep your evidence, and you can see genuine, real evidence from your environment. This allows you to take remediation actions, like interviewing users to understand their intentions or educating them about what data is allowed to leave the environment.

If you feel that a user has had too many strikes, you have an audit trail and evidence to see exactly what they have been doing. You’re not just seeing an alert; you're seeing which email was sent or which drive was used to upload sensitive data. You have full visibility of all that.

So, overall, the product is great. The only area for improvement I can think of is support. Everyone wants better support, no matter how good it already is. That's the only place I see for potential improvement.

If a data-driven organization loses data, employee data, customer data, or customer-sensitive data, the return on investment is installing a solution that ensures customer-sensitive data stays sensitive, like stays internal. 

And we’re not breaking the CIO out of confidentiality. In fact, we’re not exposing customer-sensitive data to attackers or something. That on its own is a massive return on investment because the big question is, what’s the cost of data break? The cost of a data breach is too high. So if you can ensure that my data is safe, my customer data is safe, my employee data is safe, I’m not getting sued, I don’t have to pay massive fines. That’s the maximum return on investment on it.

The huge problem I see is pricing. We understand that DLP is not cheap anywhere in the world, but we constantly lose our protection because of pricing. 

Sometimes, this is because end users prefer to have a second level of professional service. And then, when professional services are added to the cost, the cost jumps really, really high. Besides pricing, I think we’re good. Everything on the product is cool.

I would recommend this solution because, first and foremost, if you’re looking at a data protection strategy, even for an SMB. You have employee data. You have the ins and outs data that you need to also have secured because you don’t want employees seeing each other’s pay slips or any sensitive information. And those InsideOps work makes all set to employees everywhere. Even if you’re trying to protect the sanity of your environment, you can leverage this product to actually give you that peace of mind where you understand that only the person who needs to see something sees it. 

Trends around data protection:

Data protection is shifting away from being solely an on-premises concern. It's massive in the cloud now. There's a lot of data residing in the cloud. People use SAP, which is often hosted in the cloud. They use OneDrive, Office 365, SharePoint, and countless other cloud offerings. Data is everywhere in the cloud – databases, workloads, even entire organizations operate entirely in the cloud without any on-premises presence. Believe me, data protection will continue to be a challenge indefinitely.

That's where the synergy between Trellix and Skyhigh comes in. As sister companies, there's seamless integration. If you choose to have your DLP on-premises and perform classification there, you can extend that classification to your Skyhigh instance. You can maintain the same level of protection, policies, and enforcement across your cloud offerings.

In terms of data protection, it's still very much present on-premises, but it's also heavily focused on the cloud. That's where people are facing the biggest challenges. The good news is the strong relationship between Trellix and Skyhigh. People can leverage that partnership to ensure data protection, whether it's on-premises or in the cloud. It's all McAfee, no matter where the data resides.

Overall, I would rate it an eight out of ten. 

I have worked on the deployment of McAfee Complete Data Protection, including data loss, DLP module, and endpoint solutions.

I have also worked with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and UPS policies.

The best features of McAfee Complete Data Protection are DLP and encryption.

Compared to other products in the market, these features are quite intuitive.

The integration of McAfee Complete Data Protection with ePolicy Orchestrator is a useful tool.

It is quite easy to integrate and use.

The use cases are quite wide in terms of security, and they have layering concepts as well.

Analytics-wise, the real-time security analytics of McAfee Complete Data Protection can integrate with the log server.

The inbuilt logs and their analysis capabilities are also quite satisfactory.

They must improve or address USB-bound viruses and external media-bound viruses properly in McAfee Complete Data Protection.

They may have these features but haven't campaigned to the users.

This is one area they can improve.

I have about 10 years of experience with McAfee Complete Data Protection.

Before using McAfee Complete Data Protection, I used Symantec SEP.

I switched from Symantec SEP to McAfee Complete Data Protection because SEP didn't offer drive encryption, DLP, email security, and similar products.

These were the attractive points that led us to choose McAfee.

I am a customer of McAfee Complete Data Protection.

While the decision to use it was made by my enterprise, I have found it to be quite accurate and there haven't been many issues while using complete protection.

Licensing-wise, McAfee Complete Data Protection offers comprehensive and flexible licensing with various options.

Regarding cost savings, while I cannot specify exact figures, the solution offers competitive pricing compared to other products in the market.

McAfee Complete Data Protection is both a scalable and stable solution.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate McAfee Complete Data Protection a 5 out of 10.

Our company uses the solution to provide clients with network protection. We use EPO 5.10 and endpoint 10.7 for client applications. 

We first started downloading the solution for clients from the website. In 2014, we implemented the EPO and that gave us more benefits. 

The EPO displays all workstations that are attached to the network and provides regular updates from the website. The EPO's demonstration is a very good one and helps us stop people from using a USB drive to copy data that is valuable. With EPO, we have reduced our bandwidth usage so it can be put to something more useful than just downloading updates for the client application. 

We have an operational base with 70 computers. Other areas outside of the base like our Lagos office have 15 computers but ETO is not deployed there. We don't anticipate any sudden increase in usage. The aftermath of COVID has slowed things down but growth might occur later.

The new feature for online protection does a good job of identifying traits. 

The solution prevents users from downloading or copying data to a USB. 

Bandwidth usage is reduced. 

The solution needs a next generation or AI firewall that doesn't rely on signatures to detect traits. More people are going online so the online presence is more impactful in our everyday life. 

The solution should go toward AI to stop things from perimeter networks like Check Point, Surface, and Fortinet. The solution does a great job but needs to step up even more to use adaptive trait protection. 

I have been using the solution for thirteen years. 

The solution is quite stable so I rate stability an eight out of ten. 

There are no major flaws in stability but I did experience a failure to install on a client's station. Microsoft Defender was actually preventing the solution from running because it was viewing it as a threat or virus. This is a Windows 10 or 11 feature. I had to stop Defender from running to install the solution. There should be collaboration among software vendors to ensure products are not identified as threats. 

The solution is scalable so I rate scalability an eight out of ten.

Technical support is perfect. If you send a request for help but resolve the issue yourself after a few hours, they still call you back to inquire if the issue has been resolved. They will call or send emails and are fanatic with support. 

I rate technical support a nine out of ten.

Our company does not use other solutions.

The setup is actually quite straightforward. 

When we first implemented the EPO, we were regular callers to support. The first setup took about three days because we had challenges. After doing it once, we started all over because we changed our server but it wasn't anything strange and was a piece of cake. 

There is so much material available online and the solution's website also includes videos to help resolve quite a lot of issues that might occur during implementation. 

Setup is rated a nine out of ten. 

We implemented the solution in-house. Deployment took a bit more than two hours because there were some updates we didn't have on hand so needed to download. If you have the updated version, then deployment shouldn't take more than an hour.  

We deployed on the software and hardware requirements, brought in all the software packages, connected to the website, and installed the agent on ETO. We made sure the agent properly sorts and processes applications. We set policies for downloading updates and sending updates to client stations. 

After that, it is all in-house stuff to ensure work stations are alive. 

The pricing is quite reasonable compared to other vendors. It is mid-range so not too expensive but not the cheapest. Pricing is rated an eight out of ten. 

Our license is for the on-premises version but we are interested in exploring the cloud version when it is time to renew. 

A friend called to inform me about Kaspersky. I replied that the solution is also good. The friend preferred Kaspersky and was more familiar with it. I downloaded and installed it for one client. 

Kaspersky might be smarter but I have no issues with the solution. I've been using the solution for years and recommend it. 

Embrace the EPO, especially if you are running on an enterprise network. We didn't realize the importance of the EPO until we got the license. The EPO ensures your internet always runs and saves on bandwidth costs, especially if you have many users on your network. It ensures your computers don't go online after downloading updates so you save on data because you are guaranteed that updates come directly from the solution's server. 

Upgrades provide a centralized way of managing security on your network. Computers that are not updated could be a source of concern or could compromise your network. 

The solution allows you to prevent data loss, block circumvention of policies, and stop people from using your ESB or CPM to copy data. You can administer and see everything on a single screen. 

I rate the solution a nine out of ten. 

The solution provides protection against spam emails, phishing attacks, or external security threats.  

In our company, we have been using the solution for a long time. This solution helped our organization recognize numerous security attacks or spam emails received in our company's email IDs. The solution was able to catch the threats early on from the endpoint. 

McAfee Firewall and McAfee Endpoint are the most valuable features. 

The dashboard should be easy to handle. The solution dashboard is not very user-friendly. Patch management is sometimes very difficult in McAfee Complete Data Protection. On multiple occasions, our company receives too many alerts for spam and patch management.  

I have been using McAfee Complete Data Protection for five years. 

The solution is stable. 

The solution is highly scalable and easy to expand. 

I would rate tech support a five out of ten. When our company is in the process of resolving patching issues, and on behalf of our company, we try to connect with tech support, usually a proper response is not received. For other solutions our company uses like Nutanix and VMware, the support is excellent, but for McAfee, it takes a day or two to receive a response.

The product is easy to deploy and manage, but it takes at least fifteen days to complete the deployment, including removing the old system. Two engineers and one architect are needed to deploy this solution. 

Only one dedicated person is required to maintain the solution. 

The solution is affordable. It's also very easy to get a license for McAfee Complete Data Protection. 

At our company, we are using centralized policy management in the product, which decides which type of email or inbound/outbound package should be delivered. The source, destination, IP address, and tunnel creation are also implemented using centralized policy management. The different rules our company has applied are very easy to centrally manage in this product compared to others. 

Using the Device Control Feature of this tool, as part of our company, we have added devices into the control feature where they remain protected from external attacks. For instance, when you are running critical applications for some of the particular servers, if you put that server into the protection mode of this solution, then no external attack will hit that particular server. 

Some initial knowledge is needed to manage the McAfee product. Without some Knowledge transfer (KT) you cannot perform or run operations in McAfee Complete Data Protection. 

I would rate the solution a two out of ten. I would recommend others to use this solution and implement this product on every label for protection.

I have a project with McAfee and a customer to deploy and roll out the solution for ADR and other components from the McAfee ecosystem. The entire solution is for endpoint security with the new component, ADR, the adaptive threat protection, and the TIE server, which is responsible for the threat information exchange between the product of the ecosystem. There’s a sandbox connected to the endpoint protection, to the ePolicy Orchestrator, and also the network security platform to connect the sensor for EPS or EDS.

We have several components on top of the McAfee agent. Each component performs different activities. We have the base component that is the classic anti-malware, and then the endpoint security, which we call the endpoint security platform. We also have adaptive threat protection that can handle the reputation on file.

If the file is unknown and the GTI (global threat intelligence) of McAfee doesn't know the reputation of a file, this file can be sent to the sandbox. Then, the sandbox analyzes the file to discover if it's zero-day ransomware or something else. They can then decide if the file needs to be blocked or if some other action needs to be taken.

There’s the new component ADR on top of the solution from McAfee Complete Protection that can collect the index of items compromised inside the computer. All this information is sent to the cloud, to the console ADR in the cloud. We can analyze everything with the security operation center.

The adaptive threat protection and the new component of EDR are excellent.

It's a new technology. However, it’s already improving with new additions. It gives new releases more frequently than in the past with other McAfee products. It evolves quickly.

The console of the EDR is totally in the cloud.

We have all we need, and the customer is happy.

It's very configurable, McAfee. If we talk about McAfee, we have a lot of opportunities to configure the product, customize features, views, or reports, et cetera.

The solution already has a lot of really great features. Nothing is missing.

As a new technology, it does need to grow. They need to continue to grow security aspects.

I’ve used the solution over the last six months.

It's stable. It depends on the product. For instance, if we talk about solid core application control, that is one of the products that McAfee can manage and administer with the Policy Orchestrator. This product is very complex, and it's not so easy to maintain and set up. However, for the most part, it’s reliable.

We have different business units. Each business unit performs a different activity. I work for cybersecurity and around the installation of the endpoint security product. However, we also have the red team that performs penetration tests. We also have a business unit related to the cloud infrastructure. Then there are people that are working directly on security. There are maybe 200 people, maybe more, that work with this solution.

We tend to work with medium to large organizations.

It's very specific for large or medium customers. However, it depends also on the type of business of the customer. The customer can be small, however, if the business is very important, then maybe the DLP solution is also needed for smaller organizations.

It is absolutely scalable.

If we're talking about the classic product, we found that technical support usually had good skills and sound knowledge when we open a service request. In the case of solid core, which is a very specific product, we note that the support of McAfee doesn't have skill with that product, however, it's normal as the distribution on the market of this typical product is not so vast.

I have experience with some Trend Micro and Symantec products for the endpoints.

All three vendors adopt the classical techniques for malware interception, and then the digital senior too. There’s also new functionality with the EDR. Maybe McAfee and Symantec have bigger data centers with global threat intelligence and are more advanced instead of Trend Micro. However, the solutions are all basically the same. That said, McAfee is a unique vendor in that it can give one console for our product.

For me, it's not complex. We have more than six years of experience with McAfee. Each vendor needs to perform the installation. However, the systems are the same for all vendors. When we need to perform a new installation or upgrade, then the problems are mostly the same for each vendor.

It only takes about six hours to implement the product.

I’d rate it a three out of five in terms of the ease of implementation. How difficult it might be is related to the technician's skill that performs the installation. For the first time, it might be a bit more complicated. Once you understand McAfee, however, and you’re well-versed in the product, it’s not a problem.

The solution doesn’t require any maintenance.

We’ve seen that, especially when we deployed the last protection to the customer, with new EDR functionality and DLP functionality, the customer is happy about the time dedicated to analyzing the incidents. That time is very reduced now since the product now can automate a lot of things that, in the past, the analyst would have to do manually.

In terms of the price, it's different for a government user.

The price on the market for one endpoint with all the protection needed is at least 25 euros. It depends on the product that we need to install, however.

The number of endpoints can impact the price. If we try to sell 1000 endpoints compared to more than 1000, the price can change.

When we sell the protection solution, we also sell the service of the security operation center. Then, our team also can manage the infrastructure of protection for the customer.

The price is moderate for the market. I’d rate it a three out of five in terms of affordability.

We’re using the latest version of the solution.

It is on-premise. However, it is also connected to the cloud as the McAfee solution, when we work in the EDR console, is cloud-connected to the on-premise console with the intelligence on the cloud.

The product is excellent. However, it is very complex to implement from scratch. Therefore, it’s good to have a partner that can assist you and help you with the setup.

I’d rate the solution eight out of ten.

We use McAfee Complete Data Protection to ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, PCI, PII, and GDPR, ensuring that personal or confidential data remains within the organization.

The product is completely data-based, and I have no words to say. It's truly amazing. It provides encryption, data protection, and DLP, all under one roof. Usually, many competitors don't offer such a consolidated and easily manageable solution. The deployment, scalability, and reporting is too good.

There are some areas that need improvement. Firstly, the limited coverage of operating systems is a concern, as McAfee Complete Data Protection currently supports only Windows, leaving out Mac and Linux users. Network DLP integration may not be an advantage then. Furthermore, no US security solution is included in the complete data protection. It is available on the CASB front.

Additionally, the availability of presentations and sample reports is lacking, making it challenging for presentations and road shows. The absence of roadshows in India from the solution's end is affecting the introduction of new technologies to Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs). The marketing strategies need to change drastically. I had a deal for seven thousand users, and there's a competitor ready to step in. Being a more aggressive partner could help secure deals and upsell other McAfee products to customers.

We have been using this solution since the time of its inception. Presently, we are working with its latest version, which is 11.6.

My clients are satisfied with the stability of the product. I rate it a perfect ten.

The solution is highly scalable. We exclusively cater to enterprise-level companies. Our client base ranges from a minimum of 6000 endpoints to a maximum of around 1,25,000 endpoints. I rate the scalability a nine out of ten.

The technical support's response time and turnaround time as the solution provider are excellent. They go the extra mile to help us out by assisting us with log analysis and various aspects. Unlike other vendors who might refuse to help, the support here is great.

Forcepoint is a competitor. However, McAfee Complete Data Protection stands out mainly due to its exceptional backend support. The availability of great back-end and process support makes the product great.

The initial setup is straightforward, with simple configurations and the availability of a comprehensive dictionary that is used in covering most compliances. While many are transitioning to cloud deployment, the current setup is still on-premises and requires expertise for proper implementation. 

Setting up everything can be done in a day if you have the necessary knowledge and resources. Personally, I've successfully implemented it for 6000 endpoints within a week.

When it comes to pricing, I've observed an increase recently.

I recommend the solution. Overall, I rate it a nine out of ten.

We use the product for antivirus protection for all devices. We also use it for server protection for both Windows and Linux. We use endpoint encryption for laptops, too. Web protection is embedded in the browser.

I like all the features provided by the solution.

The product must improve endpoint encryption. Sometimes, it has issues syncing with Active Directory.

I have been using the solution for eight years. I am using the latest version of the solution.

The product’s stability is nearly 100%. It works seamlessly as long as it's well configured and the policies have been put properly.

The solution is very, very scalable. We just configure policies, and it automatically detects and deploys across any device not added to ePO. There are more than 2500 endpoints that are using the product. If the company grows, we will increase the usage of the tool. There's no reason to move to any other provider.

There are instances where McAfee interferes with business applications. So, in those cases, we require an investigation to determine the issue and put the appropriate policies. In McAfee, it's all about the policies. If we find out what the issue is and put appropriate policies, it should work. If the process is a bit complex and we cannot do it ourselves, we escalate it to the vendor.

The setup was not complex, but it wasn’t straightforward either. We have to deploy the agent, and the agent deploys the antivirus. We face some issues with this process. We have deployed the product in more than 2000 endpoints. It took us a couple of weeks. We needed four consultants from the local partner to deploy the product.

We had a local partner and a professional services engineer to help with the deployment. To deploy the tool, we push it from Windows into the ePO server, which is integrated into Active Directory. If we enter the relevant credentials, it detects the machine and pushes the deployment automatically. We do not need many staff for deployment and maintenance because it is automated. A standard IT team manages the solution.

There is definitely an ROI on this product. We have reports that demonstrate protection. If there is any ransomware or malware attack, it gets detected. The solution works.

We pay an annual licensing fee for the product. It is bundled with the suite. It's pretty straightforward.

It's a really good solution, especially with Zero Trust coming up. McAfee also has the ability to patch. Overall, I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

Actually, my customers use the solution for important documents. So, they usually use the DLP on-prem. They have an on-prem solution for DLP.

Actually, the feature I found valuable is almost everything in the solution except that it's not applicable to a Windows OS. Reporting and encryption are its most valuable features.

Since most companies are going into the cloud now, McAfee needs to adapt to the cloud solution. Currently, it is on-prem. In short, currently, the DLP solution is on-prem. They need to adapt to the cloud environment.

I would like the product to be more scalable in the next release.

I have been using McAfee Complete Data Protection for around ten years. I work with an IT solution distributor in the Philippines. So from time to time, I download some reports with respect to the brands that we are carrying, and we are distributing here in the Philippines. So, we sell McAfee and Trellix products to our partners and users.

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. We encountered several problems with the solution's stability.

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten since the operating system is not that flexible.

I know that we have around four or five customers with a company logo. Also, we have around 1,000 users.

Usually, we cater to enterprise-sized companies.

My clients and suppliers are usually working with technical support.

With the initial setup, on a scale of one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy, I rate the setup an eight. The setup is pretty straightforward. However, it is not so easy.

Regarding the time taken for deployment, deploying the solution is easy, but configuration with the policy will take a while, so maybe the cycle would be six months or more.

Regarding the steps for deployment, we did the usual McAfee ePO, push and pull the product.

On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution a seven. The product is so expensive. There are so many more expensive solutions in the market.

There are no additional costs to the standard licensing fees. It's a straightforward solution. So all features and all modules included in that SKU are already included in the price.

My suggestion to those planning to use the solution is that they need to research more before implementing it, especially about the compatibility.

Since we encountered some issues still, even though this product is already mature enough, I rate the overall solution a six out of ten.
