What is our primary use case?
The MetaAccess product is primarily for providing secure network access, functioning as a Network Access Control (NAC). It first performs a posture assessment to check whether your endpoint is compliant with certain parameters such as antivirus, encryption, version of the OS, vulnerability, Windows patch, and related components. If it is compliant, then it grants access to your enterprise network.
OPSWAT's complete product suite includes Kiosk, Email Security, Storage Security, Data Diodes, MFTs, and additional solutions.
We sell products including MetaAccess, MetaDefender Vault, and MetaDefender Drive. Almost all the solutions we have been selling for the last five years include MetaAccess as well as the email security solution.
What is most valuable?
The OESIS framework platform has been developed by OPSWAT itself. They license it to other OEMs for posture assessment, and they are pioneers in this particular field. The rest of the features are the same when compared head-to-head because all NAC works seamlessly. The advantage is this supports a virtualized environment, so you don't need to depend on hardware, allowing you to go live at any point in time.
When discussing policy enforcement, it has predefined templates and objects that help draft a policy easily, reducing the need to define variables and create a policy from scratch. For instance, if I want to allow a certain network range, I just need to put out the network range, and they have that policy enforcer to help define the policy precisely.
OPSWAT has an integrated solution for threat detection and response capability. If you are opting for threat detection, it will scan your endpoint, which is something no one else is doing. It does take some time for the scanning, but if you want your endpoint to get scanned for threats first, OPSWAT can do that. Regarding reporting tools and real-time monitoring capability, you get a detailed report of compliance as well as non-compliance systems, which is comprehensive.
What needs improvement?
The only limitation is that customization is pretty limited. We have predefined templates available, but the granular customization is restricted. I am speaking with respect to the Indian customer because I was in the Indian market. In non-Indian markets, whatever options are there are fine, but the Indian customer requires more customization.
From the product architecture and guidelines perspective, everything is perfectly fine. However, from the customer front, it currently comes as a virtual appliance, and if it were available as a hardware appliance, it would be helpful for those customers with limitations in their virtualization environment.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability and performance are not a problem. The solution is stable.
How are customer service and support?
The support is excellent; engineers are available as and when support is required. The rating for support would be ten out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward.
What was our ROI?
The product is definitely able to save time and money for customers.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing for MetaAccess is affordable.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
The main difference is that MetaAccess is not dependent on any underlying hardware, unlike Cisco, which requires Cisco switches. This solution supports almost all the network device vendors.
What other advice do I have?
Customization requirements may vary from customer to customer. If working in a different geography, the requirement may change. The solution's overall functionality is simple and good. Customers using this solution are not facing challenges; we have received very few support tickets.
I am the delivery lead in the company and can be reached via email at jaimin@altsec.in. OPSWAT can contact me if they have questions or comments regarding my review for MetaAccess. As a reseller, I am interested in being a reference for OPSWAT. OPSWAT is my main domain, and we have a dedicated team and lead in our organization who works on specific solutions with these OEMs.
I give this solution a rating of 10 out of 10.
