The interface and the new user experience are really helpful for the end-user
Pros and Cons
  • "There are two main features that we find very valuable. One is the interface and the new user experience. That's really, really helpful for the end-user. The second is the HANA database itself because it speeds up the process. In other solutions, like Oracle, there is a lot of redundancy that slows things down."

  • "The solution needs a warehouse management feature. Right now, there's a built-in WM, but they don't have an EWM extended warehouse management built-in, in S/4HANA. It's a separate product. So if they can add that, that would be great."
  • "The solution's weakest area is technical support, which needs to be improved quite a bit."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as an end-to-end integration. Most companies are already using financial software, but they want to have software which can offer complete integration. In our case, it's finance, material management, sales distribution, and HR.

What is most valuable?

There are two main features that we find very valuable. One is the interface and the new user experience. That's really, really helpful for the end-user. The second is the HANA database itself because it speeds up the process. In other solutions, like Oracle, there is a lot of redundancy that slows things down.

What needs improvement?

The new product has SuccessFactors. If they can bring it in on-premise as well, and basically replace SCM with SuccessFactors on-premises, that would be great. It will allow for more revenue.

The solution's weakest area is technical support, which needs to be improved quite a bit.

The solution needs a warehouse management feature. Right now, there's a built-in WM, but they don't have an EWM extended warehouse management built-in, in S/4HANA. It's a separate product. So if they can add that, that would be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. We've had no issues at all.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. With the new data connectors that they have and the new FCI NCPI integration facilities, it can be scaled up with any other third party component or even Zippy products.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is one area that they really need to improve. When you get a ticket, the response you get is "We are working on it." Yet it will take five to 15 days or sometimes even more than that to get a solution.

How was the initial setup?

With the S/4HANA, it's very simple. But prior to that in ECC it used to take a lot of time, whereas, in S/4HANA, you can easily deploy, and have an implementation in three months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing depends on a lot of factors. For example, which month of the year it is. Is it close to the end of a quarter year's end? Usually, we get the best benefit out of it if we know the exact ICP events. Otherwise, price-wise, they're expensive. If you know when their quarter closing or annual closing are, you can get pricing similar to Oracle, and in some cases, even IFS.

What other advice do I have?

We use both the on-premises and private cloud deployment models.

I'd rate the solution 7.5 out of ten.

A well-integrated solution that is suitable for many different industries
Pros and Cons
  • "This solution has one of the most modern databases and it is very stable."
  • "This solution is fantastic, and I fully recommend it as I recommend all SAP solutions."
  • "This solution is very resource-intensive, including high memory and CPU utilization."
  • "This solution is very resource-intensive, including high memory and CPU utilization."

What is our primary use case?

We are a technical services company and this is one of the solutions that we provide to our customers. We work with all of the SAP solutions.

This solution is suitable for many businesses and industries. For example, I have seen a complete solution for the construction industry.

This is a cloud solution.

What is most valuable?

This is a perfectly integrated solution.

What needs improvement?

This solution is very resource-intensive, including high memory and CPU utilization.

This product needs to be made more available for the normal user, like those by Microsoft or Oracle. For example, it should be free for individuals, and usable on a laptop.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with this solution for more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution has one of the most modern databases and it is very stable. I have not faced any issues with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable if you are talking about the functional or technical side.

I have a customer with nine hundred branches and has not faced any issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

We handle the support of this solution for our customers. We implement all of the methodologies and all of the support tools.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am a database expert and I have worked with Oracle products for fifteen years.

How was the initial setup?

The business teams and technical teams have not complained about the initial setup, so I think that it is ok.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing fees are on an annual basis.

What other advice do I have?

This solution is fantastic, and I fully recommend it as I recommend all SAP solutions. All of their products are good for SMEs or for large enterprises.

From the functional side, there is very little room for improvement in this solution. There are always enhancements that can be made, of course.

It is not easy to find people with knowledge of the HANA database. People skilled in HANA are rare and expensive, unlike Oracle, where you can find thousands of CVs for database administrators.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
