Better handling of event flooding in IBM Tivoli NetCool Impact would be beneficial. If there are massive issues with power, for example, and we get millions of events, then it struggles to deal with that. Better root cause correlation and faster processing for IBM Tivoli NetCool Impact would be helpful. If there can be more end-to-end functionality, such as observability tools built in natively, that would be great. With correlation, IBM Tivoli NetCool Impact has many functions, but we've built them custom-built. Functions such as automated logging, automated dispatching, and automated notification of engineers could be native in the tool.

IBM is not investing in the development of the on-premise version of this solution. They are only fixing bugs. Everything is now done on the new pack, Cloud Pak. Tivoli NetCool Impact was a good product, but now we have to migrate to the new one. The new solution is very complete and includes features not available on the on-premise version. If they were to offer a future release, I would like them to create a way to write code inside Impact and make it more object-oriented. Currently, the solution has its own language that must be used if you want to customize the solution, making it difficult for developers.

For improvement, I'd say the dashboard and the overall GUI could use some work. Although, I don't think that there's much improvement that Netcool really needs to achieve in this area, because when we're talking GUI, Impact is able to integrate with any third-party system and it comes with ISPF APA. It's more beneficial than Netcool/OMNIbus in this respect, and it's quite easy to handle. Some statistics around the products would also be nice. For example, to see how it performs. So when the bulk copy has been processed by Impact, through a kind of dashboard, it could indicate to the user: ""This many events have been process this many times, and this particular event may cause trouble. This many events are in testing, etc." Basically, I'd like more visibility into the details and particulars through Impact itself, so that we can take action on what's happening, and we can automate. For instance, we could maybe send the events to some kind of server or monitoring program, and perform automation on them.
The accreditation, user interface and operational views could be improved on the solution. The configuration process needs work. Everything, including the management part, could be improved. The solution is somewhat complicated. It's not exactly straightforward.
