We use Nyotron PARANOID to protect endpoints. It serves as a second and last line of protection. It often detects threats that other endpoint protection systems such as Symantec, McAfee, Windows Defender, and Malwarebytes may overlook.
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
Nyotron PARANOID used to include a SOC. Every endpoint, whether it was a server, laptop, desktop, or any other machine running Windows, had an agent on it that reported to PARANOID. Through this agent, PARANOID was able to intervene and stop any instances of misbehaviour.
What is most valuable?
Nyotron protects your users and does not acquire any threat intelligence. There were no ransomware attacks but we certainly experienced an incident. In a matter of less than an hour, we were notified and everything was stopped. Every malicious activity was stopped.
What needs improvement?
There was an initial problem, we had to run the system in detection mode rather than prevention mode. The solution should be available on Linux and other platforms, including mobile platforms such as Android and iOS.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Nyotron PARANOID for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product is stable.
We had an issue with the new version, it broke a functionality, forcing us to move from prevention to detection for the continuity of work for both us and our customers.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution’s scalability is good.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is complex. It is rare to see an effective endpoint protection system that does not require some effort. It is neither on the cloud nor on-premises. You deploy it on every endpoint or server, irrespective of perimeter. You must use a deployment tool unless you prefer to do it manually on every endpoint or server. We used an automation tool to deploy it. Since we had MSI with us. We had to verify that everything worked, but it didn't take more than two weeks for 1000 endpoints.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Users were willing to pay because of the peace of mind that comes with the solution.
What other advice do I have?
They pushed updates frequently. Sometimes, an update breaks functionality, but it is easy to fix. It was an excellent product.
Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
