What is our primary use case?
My main use case for OceanBase Cloud is that it delivers high availability, seamless scalability, and smooth migration. I appreciate OceanBase Cloud's native distributed architecture, which provides extremely high availability and seamless horizontal scalability.
At the same time, its high compatibility with MySQL and Oracle makes the migration process very smooth.
A specific project where OceanBase Cloud's high availability and compatibility made a real difference for me involves its multi-tenant architecture, which performs exceptionally well in resource isolation and improving resource utilization.
OceanBase Cloud helps us solve the issue of high storage costs and the separation of OLTP and OLAP workloads.
I appreciate its efficient data compression technology, which significantly reduces storage space usage, while its HTAP capabilities enable us to process real-time analytical tasks on the same engine.
What is most valuable?
OceanBase Cloud does not only simplify the technology stack architecture but also greatly reduces hardware procurement and maintenance costs.
The best features OceanBase Cloud offers include its native distributed architecture. The native distributed architecture stands out for me because it provides extremely high availability and seamless horizontal scalability.
At the same time, its high compatibility with MySQL and Oracle makes the migration process very smooth. I also appreciate its multi-tenant architecture, which performs exceptionally well in resource isolation and improving resource utilization.
OceanBase Cloud has positively impacted my organization by helping us solve the issue of high storage costs and the separation of OLTP and OLAP workloads.
It has also simplified the technology stack architecture and greatly reduced hardware procurement and maintenance costs.
After adopting OceanBase Cloud, I have seen a significant return on investment, as it eliminated the manual database sharding. Instead of splitting data across MySQL instances and maintaining application-level sharding logic, OceanBase Cloud handles data distribution automatically. This has greatly reduced development and maintenance complexity.
What needs improvement?
I believe OceanBase Cloud can be improved as operations and troubleshooting can be complex in distributed deployments.
The complexity in operations and troubleshooting comes from diagnosing issues involving RPC, replication, and observer nodes, compaction, or transaction timeouts, which can be harder than traditional single-instance MySQL troubleshooting.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in my current field for the past five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
OceanBase Cloud is stable, as it has minimal downtime, making it very scalable and stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Its scalability is impressive, as it has handled workloads very efficiently.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support for OceanBase Cloud is very responsive and proactive. I would rate the customer support a nine out of ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used Couchbase as a different solution.
I switched from Couchbase to OceanBase Cloud because Couchbase was expensive, and it did not have the features I was looking for, especially when dealing with huge data.
How was the initial setup?
It was easy to deploy OceanBase Cloud in my environment.
I faced no issues along the way during the configuration process, so it was smooth.
What about the implementation team?
OceanBase Cloud integrates with other AWS services I use very smoothly.
The procurement process was easy for me, with no challenges along the way.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment, as OceanBase Cloud is the most reliable and cost-effective distributed database I have ever used. Its standout advantages include extremely high data reliability, almost zero downtime in production, smooth compatibility with standard MySQL syntax, and an intuitive operation and maintenance system that drastically reduces my team's workload.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
In terms of pricing, setup cost, and licensing, I find OceanBase Cloud very affordable and cost-effective.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing OceanBase Cloud, I evaluated other options such as Amazon DynamoDB and Couchbase.
What other advice do I have?
I appreciate OceanBase Cloud most for its outstanding distributed performance and high availability. I value it because it supports massive data processing with stable throughput, and its horizontal scaling capability effectively meets my business expansion demands, making it a highly recommendable tool.
The strong compatibility with MySQL SQL lowers my migration cost significantly, which I consider a great advantage. I rate this review a five out of five.
