My main use case for Voyage AI is as an AI Automation Engineer, where I build workflow automations on a platform such as make.com. Throughout these months, I have had two use cases where I have particularly used Voyage AI: building a chatbot for the company or creating a resume screener to find the best match according to the job description. Voyage AI's text embedding models are central to this work, and I typically use the free tier models such as Voyage 3 Large or Voyage 4, with Voyage 3 being my primary choice.

When diving into the use cases, I first create a pipeline on make.com and use the text embedder inside it through Voyage AI's API for that particular model. One example of this use case is a chatbot that I built for a company, which was integrated into Slack for the interface. The company could store all documents, including legal documents, and query them whenever they needed clarity or had forgotten something. For example, if I have a document about the company's last year's revenue and I want to query the bot, I can ask what the revenue was for last year and receive that information. This is called a RAG chatbot that I built.

The pipeline involves chunking the documents, where I used OpenAI for spacing through make's internal tools. After chunking, the next important step in the pipeline is embedding, which I leverage through Voyage AI models. After embedding, the vectors are stored in Quadron, making embedding a crucial part of that pipeline taken care of by Voyage AI model.

Out of the two main use cases of the chatbot and the resume screener, both have brought value, but if I have to pick one, I would say the resume screener. The reason being it is a very important task when dealing with a thousand resumes for the recruiting agency. Whenever they receive a new job description, they have to find the best resume, either manually or based on the names saved for each file. Once we feed all those thousand files into the RAG pipeline, where the embedding is handled by Voyage AI model, the text embedding gets vectorized by this model. Whenever a job description comes, that content, primarily in a doc format, also gets embedded using Voyage AI model. Whenever text embedding is needed, it is handled by Voyage AI model, which is the most critical part of the entire pipeline.

I apply Voyage AI through the APIs it provides and try to limit my usage on a daily or weekly basis to avoid running out of the free tier limits. I mainly use Voyage 3 model for the pipeline to ensure it runs properly without excessive credit usage.

The best feature Voyage AI offers is its text embedding. The quality of the text embedding is very good and crucial. The core objective of the text embedder model is its contextual understanding; if the document provided is not understood in context, the entire pipeline becomes ineffective. Whenever I ask a question, if the model embedding the resumes or documents is not able to understand the meaning, the answer will not be accurate. This is vital, and I think Voyage AI has excelled in text understanding and contextual comprehension.

The contextual understanding feature helped greatly in the resume screener, where resumes are often one or two pages long and filled with technical terms. It effectively matches those terms with a job description coming from the company, identifying the best match from thousands of resumes. The text embedding does a great job of completely understanding each resume, including technical terms and expectations from the job description. The contextual understanding provided by the text embedder model is excellent.

Voyage AI has positively impacted my work, particularly regarding cost. If I had opted for another model, such as an OpenAI text embedder, the pricing would have been significantly higher, making it quite expensive to use OpenAI for handling thousands or even hundreds of resumes. Although it took time, my experience with Voyage AI on the free tier was superb.

Improvement can be made in the documentation aspect, which definitely needs to be updated or enhanced. I felt this need while using Voyage AI. I recognize that it is still growing, which is acceptable for a user like me, but enhancing documentation would greatly help developers or technical personnel.

One more improvement could be native integration. For example, when using Voyage AI through make.com, which is an automation platform I regularly use, integration is possible only through APIs. This requires more time for setup and handling configurations. If Voyage AI had a native integration with make.com, similar to how OpenAI's ChatGPT operates, it would streamline the onboarding process very effectively.

Other improvements needed for Voyage AI include enhanced documentation, native integration, and potentially video tutorials for each model or feature that they add. Short videos could significantly aid developers who might be lost or unfamiliar with updates since staying up to speed can be challenging.

I have been working in this field for around eight to twelve months.

In my experience, Voyage AI is stable; I have not encountered any issues with instability.

Voyage AI's scalability is commendable; I successfully handled hundreds to thousands of resumes with ease, proving it is quite scalable.

I did not need to contact customer support, as I had no significant issues to warrant this, and the documentation mostly covered initial setups. I found the customer support to be well-regarded based on research from various review platforms.

I did not specifically use a different solution for the text embedding model, but in the automation and AI fields, I have explored platforms like OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini. I chose Voyage AI specifically for text embedding due to the provided free tier.

I have definitely noticed cost savings. While dealing with thousands of resumes, the process was not completed in one go; it was done in parts. Therefore, the time consumed was slightly more compared to other models, but I had ample time to work without the need to rush, thereby saving on costs while maintaining satisfactory accuracy.

Money saved is the primary metric I can share. The question of fewer employees is not relevant in my situation since I am the only technical person involved, and therefore, it did not affect staffing. While time was consumed, the focus was primarily on saving money, which was accomplished by sticking with Voyage AI's free tier instead of switching to paid models.

I evaluated options primarily around OpenAI models, which are costly in comparison to what Voyage AI offers through its free tier, leading me to ultimately stick with Voyage AI.

In addition to everything I have mentioned, I am also using the free tier, which is pretty beneficial.

Overall, it is a solid model, and those interested should familiarize themselves with the documentation and models that Voyage AI offers to relate them to their specific use cases. I would rate my overall experience with Voyage AI as an eight out of ten.

My main use case for Voyage AI is converting text into embeddings so that it can be searched efficiently.

I can provide a specific example of how I use Voyage AI for text-to-embedding through Retrieval-Augmented Generation and document retrieval. Its main function is to convert text into vector embeddings that can be searched efficiently. I have used this for the 200 million free tokens available for many embedding models. Voyage AI creates documents into vectors easily and stores the vectors in the database using ChromaDB. For example, when an employee asks "How many casual leaves will I get?" the results appear because I'm using the LLM, which provides answers in seconds.

Another use case I have for Voyage AI is as an HR knowledge assistant that retrieves documents and reads the number of documents, then generates data for employee questions via LLM generators. The final answer is very accurate because it reduces response time from minutes to seconds for the organization. It offers faster search, better accuracy, and reduces manual efforts. Instead of searching millions of documents, it provides the answer directly. It functions as a chatbot that improves performance with very high raw performance metrics.

I have used Voyage AI for HR management. When an employee wants to ask anything, such as "How many casual leaves do I have?" or about a holiday, it has improved HR operations. It reviews documents including company leave policies, company travel policies, and related materials. It searches and then provides the answer to the employee. This enables employees to ask questions directly instead of raising multiple tickets, which has created a more efficient process for the organization.

Voyage AI offers several valuable features, with text embedding being the primary one I have already used, along with ranking, language support for longer text, context support, domain-specific models, and database integrations.

Out of these features, I find the embeddings most valuable in my day-to-day work because they work very well and are highly useful. The embeddings provide multi-language support, longer text processing, and domain-specific functionality. For HR operations, it provides higher accuracy and quicker resolution for employees. Voyage AI delivers high-quality answers to employees seeking information by processing contextual and longer text. Its document retrieval is also fast and outstanding.

Voyage AI is also cost-efficient when compared to other embedding solutions. Its processing speed is very high.

I have not been frustrated with Voyage AI, but some enterprises will not share their data because they keep their data within their own infrastructure. Voyage AI should offer on-premises deployment options. The monitoring and quality I have is good, but I want easier operational monitoring. Another consideration is cost; if I scale to larger teams, I need to pay extra costs for the dashboards.

I believe that more self-hosting capabilities, richer monitoring dashboards to retrieve results, enhanced enterprise security, and governance and security features could help improve Voyage AI.

Regarding Voyage AI's AI capabilities, its governance and security can be improved. Security is significant because the current feature has API key authentication and access controls for projects and internal security options, but it could be more secure with API-based access and data transmissions. This would be suitable for many enterprises' RAG and search applications. The improvements I suggest are role-based access control, enhanced audit logs, and as mentioned earlier, self-hosting deployment.

I have been using Voyage AI for five to six months.

Voyage AI is stable.

Voyage AI's API platform is very scalable and is used in production RAG applications, so it has high-quality embedding models and supports large-scale document retrievals. It has high API availability, consistency, and the ability to handle larger documents and volumes, which are reliability indicators.

I have not had many issues, but when I was in the initial phases of purchasing and deploying, customer support was involved. I rate them eight out of ten because I have received support including developer support, documentation support, and community resources.

I have explored other options including OpenAI embedding, Jina AI embeddings, and Google Vertex, but in terms of cost and efficiency, I switched to Voyage AI.

Voyage AI has improved time, manual efforts, and employee satisfaction. If you are looking for a good option to use at your enterprise level, Voyage AI is a very good tool compared to other tools available in the market because of its evaluation and retrieval quality. It will be up to the mark with your benchmark results. It also has cost monitoring from the beginning because it handles data governance and security questions, so it provides better accuracy, monitoring, and validates security compliances. I recommend beginning with a small retrieval quality using business-specific data and tracking the metrics.

For this type of use case, Voyage AI is the best option available. The time it takes for answering questions reduces and improves employee satisfaction because previously, employees used to raise many tickets for a simple query, but it provides an answer in a single question and a single click. There is no need to wait for HR to respond, so it has improved time, manual efforts, and employee satisfaction. I give this review an overall rating of six out of ten.

My main use case for Voyage AI is for embeddings and reranking when I use RAG models for my own projects.

For example, I find Voyage AI very useful when I need to understand different meanings of the same word used in different contexts, so it is more leveraged in the case of Voyage AI where it takes the semantic meaning, and I use it for making my RAG model more optimized.

It really helps me a lot to make my outputs better and to understand the context very efficiently regarding my main use case.

In my opinion, the best features Voyage AI offers are very good, especially the free 200 tokens, and it is very useful for me as a developer.

Voyage AI has positively impacted my organization by helping me improve my productivity and spend less time figuring out the embeddings and how to make the RAG model, and it is mostly used in my own work.

I have significantly increased my outputs around 60-70%, making them much more accurate than before, and the context and semantic meaning have increased substantially.

Voyage AI can be improved by supporting some more chunking models, which might make my work easier because currently I am depending on it for embeddings, reranking, and other steps following the chunking step.

Other than that, it is really good.

This was the first solution I used; I was searching for a way to improve my RAG model, and this was the first suggestion I found online.

I have seen a strong return on investment; if I were to use another product with similar output, I would not get as many free tokens, and while I cannot speak definitively about fewer employees, it has significantly improved productivity.

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was positive, as I received the free 200 tokens during sign-up.

I did not evaluate other options before choosing Voyage AI.

I would advise others looking into using Voyage AI to consider its features and capabilities.

I have no additional thoughts about Voyage AI; all I would say is it is a really good product which I have seen in a long time. I would rate this review a 9.

My main use case for Voyage AI is for a project where I had to work with a RAG pipeline. A specific example of how I used Voyage AI in that project is that I had to do semantic search and build an ingestion pipeline and retrieval pipeline.

The best features Voyage AI offers are easy integration and the convenience of using the free tier. The integration was easy for me because I just had to use Voyage AI API key, so it was straightforward to implement.

A specific outcome I have seen from Voyage AI is that it has better retrieval than OpenAI's embeddings, so it has a good impact. Voyage AI has impacted my organization positively because it has excellent embeddings and rerankers and helps with retrieval use cases.

I think Voyage AI should have more job and embedding models and should support more models such as OpenAI and Gemini, as they have more use cases compared to existing options.

Regarding Voyage AI's security, I think it is adequate for general use, but it may not be suitable for enterprises since it is currently API-based. It should have proper audit logs and role-based access control to guarantee more security.

In terms of Voyage AI's AI capabilities, it is excellent in its domain, but it may underperform on mixed domains, and when compared to other general models, it might have reduced performance.

The major issue is that it is currently API-based, and due to this, there are security concerns for enterprise users. It should have industry-regulated safety and security options.

I have been using Voyage AI for two months.

The advice I would give to others looking into using Voyage AI is that it is a great option compared to OpenAI or other APIs you want to use. It has a good use case when you are specifically building a RAG model, but other than that, it may not be useful when you need plug and play operations and integrations, so the setup can be more challenging. However, if you need to build a RAG bot, then you should definitely go with Voyage AI. I would rate this product an eight out of ten.
