We use the solution for our ETL process, which involves moving data between source and reporting servers. 

The tool's most valuable feature is its API connections. Its predictive analytics feature has helped us pass some ETL processes to analysts rather than developers.

Alteryx Designer is not as fast as SSIS and is not good for large datasets. It also needs to improve database procedures. Though it is easy to use, it is limited in terms of technical aspects. 

I have been using the product for a year. 

We work with clients of all sizes—small, medium, and enterprise businesses. I haven't encountered many bugs in terms of stability, but its performance on large datasets is lacking.

Alteryx Designer is quite scalable. Analysts can design and develop solutions for small projects in just a few hours. However, it doesn't scale well for large datasets and complicated procedures. I'd rate its scalability a five out of ten.

We haven't contacted technical support; instead, we've been trying to find other ways to fix issues.

I rate Alteryx Designer's deployment ease as ten out of ten. 

The solution is expensive. It has license fees, which are renewable every year.  

Alteryx Designer helps us scale simple projects effectively. The analyst can develop their own ETL processes without much technical skill, reducing the need for developer involvement. The user interface is intuitive and easy to follow, but it struggles with complex datasets and large data. Overall, I'd rate Alteryx Designer as six out of ten.

With Alteryx, we mostly fetch data from SQL, SQL server databases, and SharePoint. Some team members were doing the task using Excel for a long time with Macros and Excel functions like VLOOKUP, and these things become quite easy when you are using Alteryx as a solution.

We have automated the processes and scheduled the workflow so that users don't have to sit in front of the system to do the same tasks every day. So, the system will trigger the workflow, and it will send the output file to the concerned team. We are mainly using this solution for data blending and preparation. 

Alteryx is quite easy to use, learn, and understand as a product. Any user can understand what's going on by looking into the designer's workflow. But in Excel, there are so many formulas that are very difficult to understand. But in the case of Alteryx, it's quite easy to understand the transformations happening in a step-by-step manner. 

Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, like data sources that are not present in your system, Alteryx works a bit slowly. Even if you have a good configuration and you are pulling data from an SQL server like SAP, then the solution also has a slow work process. It shouldn't be that much slow if you are pulling ten thousand records, it should not take thirty minutes. 

I have been using the solution for the last three years. 

The solution is robust and stable enough, and we haven't faced any issues so far.  

The solution is very much scalable. We have five to six global engineers who are developing Alteryx workflows. 

I am satisfied with customer support because whenever we face any issues, we can connect to them to get information, solutions and approaches. They have a quite good team to provide support for the customers. I would rate the customer support a ten out of ten.

Installation of the solution is quite easy, and you don't have to read multiple documents before installing the software. It takes only a few hours to install this product. For the installation and maintenance of this solution, only two professionals are enough. 

We are using Alteryx to generate a specific output that can be used for the input load sheet of Blue Prism. In a few cases, we are getting the Alteryx output and sending it via email to the concerned business team. 

ROI for the solution has been good because we have been able to automate processes in multiple cases. This is a great time-saving tool. 

The product costs five thousand and two hundred dollars per user for each year. The product is a bit expensive, it should be looked into. But there are no hidden costs in Alteryx; you only have to pay for the licensing. 

I would recommend Alteryx over Excel to everyone. I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. Alteryx can integrate the reporting section in a better way and presently we cannot make graphical representations in the solution by using the data.

Alteryx should work on some visualization part and then this solution will become great enough for each and every business scenario or company. 

We use Alteryx Designer for data manipulation.

The product is intuitive and easy to use. It helps in faster data processing for gigabytes of files. It provides accessible data summarizing in terms of applying formulas across columns.

It is challenging to view the data using Alteryx Designer, though there is an option for browsing. We can use another tool for filtering the data along with it, but the interface for its drop-down functionality is not intuitive.

I have been using Alteryx Designer for one and a half years.

The product is stable. I rate its stability an eight out of ten.

We have around 5000 to 6000 Alteryx Designer users in our organization. It can process a huge amount of data easily. Although we can't go through the functions to ensure they are implemented correctly. We have to keep the workflow running repeatedly to see the changes.

I rate the scalability a six or seven out of ten.

The product's technical support team reaches us in case of any issues. They contact us for surveys and feedback as well. They are very proactive.

I rate the initial setup process an eight out of ten. The functionality would be complex if someone used it for the first time. It is relatively easy once they get experience using it.

I rate Alteryx Designer an eight out of ten.

I have used Alteryx Designer to perform predictive analytics that helps in predicting the selling of products, particularly in banking and financial areas.

The main valuable aspect is the simplicity of use across all features. Additionally, I have developed some functionality to integrate Alteryx Designer with other connectors, including some Alteryx plugins for various software, which proves useful.

For smaller clients with ten to 15 employees, Alteryx can be expensive. The server capabilities are costly too. The technical support could also improve by being quicker in response times.

While I rate the support highly, there are areas where they need to improve response time and overall competence.

It's cheaper than Palantir, but even Alteryx is too much for small clients. It is expensive, considering the server capabilities.

I am interested in comparing Alteryx with Palantir to explore potential opportunities.

Overall, I would rate the product eight out of ten. For now, it appears that only the pricing aspect could be adjusted to bring it closer to a ten.

We use Alteryx Designer to construct workflows, encompassing data extraction from various platforms such as SQL Server and in-database sources. Subsequently, we automate these workflows and push the filtered data to Tableau for dashboard creation. This process forms our daily routine, streamlining tasks efficiently.

Alteryx Designer offers a drag-and-drop interface, making it highly user-friendly. Unlike Python and Apache Airflow, which require coding, Alteryx allows users to accomplish tasks without any programming knowledge. Its simplicity makes it accessible to anyone, even those without coding experience, and this ease of use is one of Alteryx's key advantages.

Price is an most important issue.

I have been using Alteryx Designer for seven years.

We have encountered stability issues because of various factors, such as on-site protection and the UEFI. Sometimes, the production site or the UEFI's site won't run smoothly, or even simply opening the gallery can be problematic. For instance, you cannot open another gallery simultaneously if two categories have the same person signing on. You have to close one gallery before opening another. 

Whenever I encounter an issue, I usually find all my questions answered in the Alteryx community. The community aspect is very good, with most queries addressed. However, administrators sometimes struggle to understand certain Alteryx-related issues, requiring them to contact SMEs. While the administrators are decent, connecting with SMEs for feedback and issue resolution can take one to two business days.

Sometimes, issues arise in Alteryx Designer, but administrators automatically resolve them, though not always on a large scale. Various issues are generally addressed within a day, considering the impact on our analyses and overall operations.

We've relied on Alteryx Designer for all our needs, automating workflows and tasks efficiently. Initially, it was beneficial, especially in 2019. However, recent licensing adjustments have impacted its cost-effectiveness. Previously, discounts made it sensible, but the situation has changed with recent price hikes and Alteryx's acquisition, possibly by Salesforce. They are no longer accommodating with discounts. Consequently, we're reassessing its ROI and considering transitioning most of our licenses to DataIQ.

The product is priced at 5000$/person.

We utilize various features such as machine learning, connectors, predictive analytics, time series analysis, etc. For instance, I employ predictive analytics to forecast data by partitioning it into training and testing sets, fine-tuning hyperparameters, and refining the dataset. Subsequently, I generate predictions based on selected features and criteria. Following this process, we disseminate the results. Alteryx Designer offers a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface, eliminating the need for extensive coding. However, some aspects of its predictive analytics feature are less favored. Consequently, our organization is considering transitioning from Alteryx to DataIQ due to cost concerns, as Alteryx Designer is deemed expensive, especially given the number of users. Currently, we're evaluating DataIQ's predictive analytics and other data-related features to determine its suitability as an alternative to Alteryx.

Regarding user experience, I stumbled upon DataIQ and explored its features. They pitched us DataIQ, and I saw the demo. It was very user-friendly. Compared to what I'm used to, the interface of Alteryx Designer feels outdated. There's work to be done on that front.

Additionally, there's a significant delay in completing workflows, especially with large datasets. This delay is due to caching limitations and the application engine's capabilities. So, while price is a crucial factor, these performance issues and user-friendliness are also essential considerations.

We have a dedicated team of administrators who maintain Alteryx Designer. Whenever we need to upgrade from one version to another, such as from version one to version eight, these administrators handle all the upgrades. Occasionally, some workflows may encounter issues during these upgrades, so the team ensures that the enhancements are managed over the weekends, allowing us to resume managing our workflows afterward.

If the team primarily comprises analysts who prefer not to code and prefer a drag-and-drop interface, then Alteryx Designer would likely be suitable. However, integrating tools like Apache Airflow and Python might be more appropriate if the team is more inclined towards coding such as Python and seeks greater control over workflow management. So, the suitability of Alteryx Designer depends on the specific needs and preferences of the team. It might not be the best fit if the team is more focused on coding or prefers portability.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

I have been using Alteryx Designer only for data modeling and data structuring. I'm still not using the solution's advanced features like predictive analysis and machine learning. There is a lot of potential in the system. The solution's data structuring and predictive analysis are pretty good.

When it comes to the pivoting part, the drill-through option is not there in Alteryx. When you click on a pivot table in Excel, it goes into the details of it. Alteryx Designer gives you the subtotal and merges all the lines but doesn't give you the drill-through option.

I have been using Alteryx Designer for over three months.

We haven’t faced any issues with the solution’s stability.

Since Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution, it is not easily scalable.

Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution.

It took time for us to get used to seeing things in Alteryx Designer. In Excel, you would see the fields column-wise, but in Alteryx Designer, you would see each setting and data type row-wise. So, it takes some time to get comfortable around it. It takes time to learn the system if you want to combine two to three features or multiple formulas.

I would recommend Alteryx Designer to users based on their use cases. Alteryx Designer is a suitable solution for people with multiple models looking at predictive analysis and forecasting.

Overall, I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten.

We use Alteryx Designer to enable business users to automate their workflows so they don't have to spend time in Excel doing things like pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, or HLOOKUPS. Instead, they can spend more time on analysis than being a spreadsheet slinger.

At my last company, our national account team would need to go to a system to get information on various accounts. They would then need to compile it with the information we have in our system. They would download information that we had in our system into an Excel workbook and the information from the external system into a workbook. They needed to combine each client to find all the information for a single client. That manual manipulation used to take six hours of one person's week, and then that person would need to compile it and send a summary of activities from both systems for our clients. They would then need to publish it for our management to consume. Now, what they're able to do is Alteryx was able to use the API from the external system that they needed information for. They were able to connect that to our system to create one single workbook. In Alteryx, they could do all of the data cleansing preparation and transformation they needed. They were also able to set up an automatic email that was sent out. This ended up saving across the organizations about 2,000 hours a year. With Alteryx, they could find a single source of truth for the clients and could download everything automatically. They could pivot it out and summarize it at the level it needed for our executives to consume.

Workflow automation, in general, is valuable. Likewise, the solution is easy for someone familiar with Excel. Alteryx's user-friendly interface is its number one advantage. We trained over 150 business users, who were primarily salespeople and not necessarily data people, to use this tool for their workflow.

Alteryx's data science and machine learning capabilities are where it loses out to DataIQ. Also, the fact that the server and designer are separate is very frustrating. And, as somebody who needed to assign licenses to people, it was very difficult to collaborate with others and show who has licenses for Alteryx without having to use a third-party process to visualize that.

I would love to see an improvement to the user admin privileges in being able to assign and transition licenses to people more easily. That is something that needs to be key. There's a software called Server Pal that Anypoint has, but I know some other things out there to help people with the server admin piece. One of the most frustrating pieces is that there's not something inherent to Alteryx for administration purposes.

Moreover, Alteryx has some opportunities to improve collaboration as well.

I rate Alteryx Designer an eight out of ten because it is very scalable.

For the most part, Alteryx was straightforward to deploy. We just had some bandwidth constraints for how long it took with competing priorities.

I think the difficulty with scalability comes in the license cost with Alteryx. It is not a cheap product. Each license is something like $4,000.

DataIQ is an alternative, and its number one thing over Alteryx is its data science and machine learning capabilities. Being able to share workflows and have other people collaborate on the same workflow is another thing that DataIQ has over Alteryx. However, I wouldn't necessarily rate DataIQ over Alteryx. They both have their use cases and their strengths and limitations. But the lack of collaboration is one thing holding Alteryx back.

When choosing Alteryx Designer, reach out to the community because it has a robust community. Leverage all of that for what you can. The Alteryx community is one of its biggest strengths.

I rate Alterx Designer a solid eight out of ten.

The main use case is regarding the finance field, due to its ability to efficiently extract, transform, and load data from various sources into a target database. It enables quick migration of data, with added calculations and transformations, resulting in higher performance compared to other tools.

It is an advantageous feature for finance users as it allows them to work with confidential data without requiring extensive coding knowledge. It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database. It provides good visibility and control over information, enabling the setup of alerts and notifications based on specific thresholds. Additionally, users can send emails directly from the platform, enhancing communication and collaboration within their teams.

It provides flexibility and scalability in terms of deployment. Users can work individually on their desktops or choose to publish and manage their workflows on a centralized server for higher performance. It efficiently handles large volumes of data, providing reliable performance in both desktop and server environments. It provides numerous possibilities for data delivery and sharing, using it as a data source for other applications, generating Excel files, or storing files on SharePoint.

Alteryx Designer supports connectivity with Snowflake, including the use of public and private keys for authentication. While using a general user ID and password is straightforward, when it comes to encrypted key-based systems, users may face complexity in managing the delivery process. Improving the key-based sign-on process and making it more user-friendly would be a benefit.

I have used it for the last five months.

It is generally stable, with little to no issues during monthly Windows patching. When it happens, it is required to investigate and identify the cause and find a resolution. If that is not possible, collaboration with the vendor is sought to address the problem or potentially roll back the patching and reinstall it.

It is a highly scalable solution and there is an option for a cloud deployment, however, we haven't explored that possibility yet.

The limited availability of resources and slower response times contribute to the challenges in troubleshooting and resolving issues.

Unlike other tools like Informatica and Netezza, which are more technical and database-focused, Alteryx Designer is created specifically for business users. It enables data integration tasks and data delivery, including aggregations, calculations, reporting, and business logic, eliminating the need for extensive coding knowledge.

The workflow is typically published directly from the desktop application to the server, avoiding the need to download and upload it between environments. This approach helps manage any potential issues in the process. A team usually consists of a server administrator, application support personnel, and an expert resource responsible for maintaining the workflow from the beginning.

We witnessed a return on investment, but it didn't meet initial expectations.

The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones. The cost of a single license is around four thousand dollars, which is costly. I would rate it seven out of ten.

Although is on the expensive side, some companies with specific budgets and requirements may find value in investing in it. I would recommend to carefully evaluate the business needs and the cost structure before deciding to implement the solution. I would rate it eight out of ten.

I use the solution to build pipelines, schedule them, and do some data transformations and data cleaning.

The solution's ability to hold a huge amount of data in its memory is significant.

We discontinued using Alteryx's data science studio because it was not very user-friendly.

The solution's installation is quite challenging because it requires some security steps, like email verification. The solution's deployment is quite complex and could be improved.

The solution helped significantly reduce the development time by providing better and more efficient tools for us to develop the ETL. With Alteryx Designer, the development time takes one or two days, which would have otherwise taken weeks.

Alteryx Designer is a very expensive solution. When we purchased the product four years back, its price was about 20,000.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution’s pricing a one out of ten.

We had challenges with a very complex workflow, and we couldn't find the root cause because it caused an error in the output. We recreated the workflow, and it solved the problem. Alteryx Designer integrated seamlessly with other tools and systems in our workflow.

It's not convenient for us to develop any machine learning model using Alteryx Designer. Other data science studio tools are much more advanced than the data science studio tools in Alteryx.

We do maintenance on our workflow, but we try to be careful with the upgrades because we don't want any upgrades to impact our production workflows. One or two people are needed to maintain the solution.

Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

I use the tool for ETL purposes. 

One of the things I like about Alteryx Designer is how easy it is to connect numerous data inputs, including API connectors. This helps tremendously in reducing the time required to extract data from systems like SAP that don't have straightforward connectivity options.

Another valuable aspect is the user-friendly UI. From a self-service analytics perspective, the interface is very simplified even for someone without experience in ETL or data processing.

Additionally, I appreciate how Alteryx Designer provides use case examples and explanations for every tool right within the Designer environment. If I need to learn more about a particular tool, I don't have to search elsewhere.

Optimizing processing times is one area I would like to see improved in Alteryx Designer. Sometimes, the workflows take an extremely long time to run. There are days when I have had to wait two to three hours for a single process to complete. There needs to be a functionality to split the processes.

I rate the solution's stability a seven out of ten. I have encountered some downsides or glitches when using Alteryx Designer, though they don't occur all the time. The issues tend to depend on various factors, like internet connectivity speeds.

I have not directly contacted Alteryx Designer's technical support team before. However, I have engaged with the support provided by our partner. 

From my experience, support has been very responsive. If I raise an issue or request related to the product with them, I get a response within one to two days.

The tool's deployment is simple. 

The tool is priced high. 

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. If budget is not an issue, you can go for it.
