| Author info | Rating | Review Summary |
|---|---|---|
| Information Technology Infrastructure Manager at Provident Pénzügyi Zrt. | 2.5 | Aruba VPN's stability was adequate, but we faced issues with a small appliance overwhelmed during the COVID lockdown. Firmware bugs and client connection problems with Windows 7 led to daily connectivity issues, prompting us to switch to Cisco VPN. |
| Senior Presales Consultant - Networking Solutions at Mannai | 5.0 | I use Aruba VPN to access corporate resources globally with the same policies, appreciating its lightweight nature on devices. While it offers a decent ROI in 2.5 years, it could improve in security. Previously, I used Cisco ISE and Forescout VPNs. |
| Network & Security Department Head at Hypernet Indonesia | 3.0 | I found Aruba VPN lacks frequent product updates, which poses a significant issue for us, prompting consideration of switching solutions. Despite acknowledging this flaw, the review does not mention any particular valuable features or details about its deployment or ROI. |
| Service Manager at MMO 2000 Informatica | 5.0 | I appreciate Aruba VPN for its suitability for companies with diverse network needs, flexible pricing, strong monitoring features, and user-friendly reliability ensuring secure communication. However, it could improve on addressing critical issues to maintain its reputation. |

We purchased a relatively small Aruba VPN appliance. Unfortunately, it was not a well-designed VPN appliance product. I think the vendor did not provide us with the best solution.
At that time, the world and our company faced the first COVID lockdown, and everybody had to work from home. During this time, the small VPN appliance was overwhelmed by the number of connections, and we experienced many issues. Firstly, it turned out that the firmware was buggy. When around 100 to 300 users tried to connect at the beginning of the day, the appliance would crash, and the users would not be able to connect.
We had to escalate the issue to the manufacturer, and they had to release new firmware to resolve the problem, which took around one week. As you can imagine, during the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone had to work from home, and we were struggling to connect to the VPN because of the firmware bug. It took Aruba at least one week to resolve the issue.
Another major pain point we faced was with the VPN client. At the time, we were using the Windows 7 operating system on the client machines. Unfortunately, we could not identify the precise circumstances in which the Aruba VPN client could not establish a connection.
This was very, very disappointing for us and caused a lot of problems for our department. We had around 500 to 600 users who wanted to connect, and at least 50 to 60 users, or about 10% of the users, were unable to connect each day due to this anomaly. We were not able to identify the root cause of the problem. We collected and provided all the logs that the local support partner requested. Unfortunately, neither the Hungarian local support partner nor the Aruba headquarters could identify the root cause of how and why the Aruba VPN client could not establish a connection.
So, it felt like a bad spot. Each day, users were praying to connect over the VPN and to be able to work that day. Aruba VPN sometimes worked, and sometimes it didn't. We were very disappointed and had to switch to a different supplier as soon as possible. We switched to a Cisco product and were very satisfied with the Cisco VPN.
We have been using Aruba VPN for three years as a customer.
I rate Aruba VPN ten out of ten for stability.
Aruba VPN was used by around 500 to 600 users in our organization.
Compared to the Cisco appliance and other VPN tools we had previously, I rate Aruba VPN a five or six out of ten for scalability.
The Hungarian support party did its best. They visited us in person and over remote connections. Unfortunately, they could not resolve the issue, nor could the Aruba support party.
Neutral
Aruba VPN's initial setup was easy because the Hungarian support party did it. Our IT department didn't have to deal with it, but the support party set up everything.
Aruba VPN worked correctly before the COVID pandemic when the number of connections was not so high on that appliance. Only about 20% of the users worked from home then. We were satisfied with the solution besides the Aruba VPN client anomaly during that period.
This anomaly occurred from the beginning, and we could not identify the root cause of it. We could not say whether it was caused by the client machine configuration, the operating system configuration, the Windows configuration, or any other application-related issue. It did not depend on the Hungarian internet service provider, as the same problem occurred with various internet service providers. Unfortunately, it was a black box for us, and we were not able to identify the root cause.
The support party should prepare better by gathering more information about the company's size, the number of users, and the number of connections. Based on this information, they can recommend a better, larger appliance for the customer. In our case, it would have been better if we had a larger appliance. I cannot say the appliance was slow when all the users were connected. It worked as expected, but we faced some issues.
Overall, I rate Aruba VPN a five out of ten.

Aruba VPN can be used to access corporate resources anywhere in the world. They travel, connect to the VPN, and get the same policies supplied. Corporate can push the corporate policies to PCs through Aruba VPN.
Aruba VPN is lighter on machines, and users don't feel any difference in having these items installed on their PCs or laptops.
There is room for improvement from the solution's security point of view.
I have been using Aruba VPN for a few years.
I rate Aruba VPN nine and a half out of ten for stability.
Around 40 to 50 customers are working with Aruba VPN.
I rate Aruba VPN ten out of ten for scalability.
I have previously used Cisco ISE VPN and Forescout VPN, but they are not that great.
Aruba VPN's initial setup is easy.
It takes 15 minutes to deploy Aruba VPN. Aruba VPN can be deployed by configuring the VPN profile and applying it to the user groups.
Our customers have seen a return on investment with Aruba VPN in two and a half years.
Customers need to buy a VPN client license. On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate Aruba VPN's pricing a three out of ten.
Currently, the connections on Aruba VPN are robust and the fastest. As it is a lighter client, it does not put any pressure or heavy connections. It's all about how much internet connection you have. Your VPN connection will work faster based on your internet connection. The authentication with Aruba VPN is faster and takes around five milliseconds.
You need two or three engineers to deploy and maintain the solution at the start of a project. However, once it is set up, only one person is needed to do it.
I would recommend Aruba VPN to other users. If someone has a workforce working from home or traveling, then Aruba VPN is the right solution for them.
Overall, I rate Aruba VPN ten out of ten.

They could release product updates more frequently. The lack of updates is one reason we plan to switch to another solution.
We have been using Aruba VPN for four years.
The platform is not stable. It needs improvement.
Our company has registered about 500 Aruba VPN users.
The initial setup was straightforward. It typically takes up to one hour, but the time may vary depending on the version of the operating system, whether it's Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS, as different versions may cause issues. For deployment and maintenance, only three team members are required.
We do not have to purchase a separate license for Aruba VPN; it is included in the ClearPass package.
Aruba VPN can be valuable for supporting network work within the company, particularly for ensuring connectivity in various signal conditions. However, occasional issues may arise, such as intermittent drops in signal or difficulties connecting to private networks or the Internet. Despite these challenges, it provides a reliable connection, enabling employees to access necessary resources securely within the company's network and on the Internet.
VPN simplifies secure access to corporate resources from various locations by leveraging technologies like ClearPass for authentication and SD-WAN for gateway functionality. The VPN's most valuable features include stability and ease of use. The application's stability is crucial for ensuring reliable signal transmission and connectivity.
Many of our staff have recently declined to use the application because of these issues. Consequently, we are considering migrating to another application to improve user experience and productivity. You can connect to your network. However, the problem is that no further development has existed for the last two or three years.
It has good integration capabilities and is a simple, lightweight application. It also features a split network panel capability. If the network is good, it functions seamlessly.
I rate it a six out of ten.
What I like the most about Aruba VPN is that it's great for companies with diverse network needs. It offers flexible pricing and strong monitoring features and ensures secure communication inside and outside the company while staying user-friendly and reliable.
Although Aruba VPN is excellent, it should address issues that are vital to maintaining the company's reputation.
Technical support is good but there is an issue with slow time transfer. Waiting two weeks for a response is unacceptable, especially for customer projects. While my team is capable, it is frustrating to resolve issues without quick support. The good part is that the support team has knowledge but responds slowly. I would rate the technical support a seven out of ten.
