What is our primary use case?
We have projects with mostly government entities. They want to create some policies for individuals who access Active Directory through others as an authentication method. They have Active Directory and devices that are under the domain controller. These devices can access all their internal network with their internal services. If the device is not under the domain controller, they can be quarantined and can only use the internet connection. For example, I am just giving a simple example.
What is most valuable?
The most effective feature of
ExtremeControl is that whenever any user is connected through the network, I can really dig down and check exactly what applications they have been using. I can understand if the user is having an issue. For example, if there is any complaint from the user and they cannot explain what the main issue is or what is happening,
ExtremeControl can give a deep understanding of what they are experiencing.
What needs improvement?
ExtremeControl is a great solution, but it is mainly focused on wireless. For their wired network, especially with third-party switching, this is where most of the features are lost.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have used the solution for approximately four years now.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution has high stability, so I would rate it around nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution has high scalability, around nine out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate their technical support five out of ten. They have strict upgrade policies. For example, if we are out of upgrades or there is a new upgrade, they sometimes require us to upgrade to provide support. They do not offer straightforward support if there is an issue unless we upgrade.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not difficult, but it relies on the customer's services. If the customer has firewalls or another NAT created with specific policies, the installation might be complicated without a straightforward setup.
What was our ROI?
There is a return on investment, especially for the business user. Having good connectivity through Wi-Fi is essential for the entire business.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The licensing is good. ExtremeControl offers a one-time license for a perpetual license. For the cloud, Cloud IQ is an annual license. Compared to other competitors, they have the best pricing.
What other advice do I have?
ExtremeControl is a strong and cost-effective solution. Their support is good, but it is necessary to upgrade your solution promptly once there is a new upgrade to get support. Overall, I would rate ExtremeControl nine out of ten.
