The main use cases for ExtremeControl among my customers are to authenticate the users here for the end systems in their companies and to manage authentication, authorization, and systems, and they are using it not only with the Extreme solutions but also with third-party products like Cisco, Aruba, and Huawei.

My customers have utilized ExtremeControl's feature of integrating with existing IT ecosystems, for example, by integrating with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Network NPS.

The device authentication capabilities of ExtremeControl are helpful because we can customize parameters to integrate third-party solutions, not only our equipment such as Extreme Networks but also third-party switches and wireless controllers like Cisco and Aruba.

The most valuable features of ExtremeControl include third-party support, flexible policies, and the ability to easily customize some features.

It is easy to customize the solution.

The integrations are easy to implement with these systems, and we have documentation available, so there is no problem with integration.

The biggest benefits for my customers from ExtremeControl include the ability to integrate third-party devices, integration with user databases like Microsoft Active Directory or other directory software, and it is easy to maintain by customers.

Regarding improvements for ExtremeControl, I think it is good as it is; however, some other products can support features like certificate management, which ExtremeControl currently lacks. Adding certificate management could be an interesting feature for customers.

In addition, there is also another product called UZTNA, which is said to have NAC in this solution, but it is not as advanced as our regular ExtremeControl, so improving our UZTNA solution could also be beneficial.

UZTNA should be improved with the NAC capabilities to make it similar to our on-premise NAC, ExtremeControl.

I have been working with ExtremeControl for more than 10 years.

I have not faced any issues with stability.

For scalability in larger environments, it can be rated a maximum of 10.

It is very scalable, and I would rate it a 10.

For technical support of ExtremeControl, I have no doubts that they cope with problems effectively, so I would rate this a 10.

Positive

The initial setup of ExtremeControl is easy and straightforward.

The deployment of ExtremeControl takes approximately one day.

We do not measure return on investment with ExtremeControl, so I cannot comment on that, as customers usually buy it for security reasons but do not measure it, which is hard to do in my opinion.

In terms of cost, I believe ExtremeControl is reasonably priced for big enterprises, but for smaller ones, they need to consider that the price for less than 1,000 users is important, as this is the minimum number of users required for a license. Below this number, we are not competitive with other vendors.

I have a little experience with reporting and analytics tools for network visibility in ExtremeControl, but I am not a specialist. I'm not a big fan of this analytics feature because it is an in-built component, and customers usually don't use it frequently since they often don't measure it.

It is not very popular among my customers right now.

I would definitely recommend ExtremeControl to customers because we can support many features as they need, and we can provide a demo license for even 80 days for testing all required features, which is not a problem for us.

On a scale of 1-10, I rate ExtremeControl a 10.

I have already installed ExtremeControl for some of my clients. My clients use ExtremeControl for BYOD, device authentication, network security and control, and network automation.

Integrating ExtremeControl with ExtremeConnect provides an additional layer of security and control over what devices are onboarding to the network, granting full visibility. ExtremeControl can also integrate with third-party devices, allowing use with any other network existing hardware on the same site. This enhances network security and provides seamless mobility, making the automation of implementation easy.

Sometimes the performance with a high number of devices can be an area of concern. We rely more on the cloud for analytics rather than on-premise, and some customers prefer relying on an on-premise solution rather than a cloud solution. They are more concerned with features on the cloud version than the on-premise solutions.

I have two years of experience with ExtremeControl.

I rate the stability of the solution as nine out of ten.

I rate the scalability of the tool as eight out of ten.

I rate technical support for ExtremeControl as between six and seven out of ten.

The initial setup was not easy. It requires an experienced person to deploy ExtremeControl, and deployment can take from days to weeks depending on the complexity of the network.

The pricing of ExtremeControl is considerable; I would rate it at eight or nine.

Automation of device onboarding is not only about security and reporting; it also automates the onboarding of devices. For this reason, I would recommend ExtremeControl to other people. I rate this solution nine out of ten.

The product's most valuable feature is its reliability. It consistently performs well without requiring frequent maintenance or troubleshooting.

One improvement could be better clarification, namely that the system only works optimally with all components purchased together.

We've been using ExtremeControl for about a year.

The product is stable.

The solution is easily scalable and can support up to 500 devices.

We have noticed similarities between Extreme and Ubiquiti, particularly in their functionality, like how they operate wirelessly and can be managed from the cloud or locally. Based on our experience, Ubiquiti's system may be more user-friendly and capable of handling heavy loads. Still, Extreme could be more reliable, although you have yet to compare them side by side directly. For instance, we have observed Extreme performing well in a warehouse environment, which might have a different level of network traffic than a convention center.

The initial setup is easy.

We have seen a positive return on investment, but considering the solution's expense, we need to assess the antennas' longevity to determine the overall ROI.

ExtremeControl can be expensive compared to other options in the market. However, I need to find out the price for licensing.

We use the product to manage computer device access within our internal network and facilitate vector communication in the warehouse.

It has effectively enhanced network security and integrated with other security tools to streamline operations.

We integrated some stock solutions into ExtremeControl for our systems. These solutions likely involved configuring SSIDs on the server side, with controllers directing traffic to various destinations. It's good that we found them effective, but we may consider other options due to price considerations.

I rate it a five out of ten.

ExtremeControl is deployed in an extensive network, and it is used to manage logins from computers and users. We have about 70,000 users at all levels.

I haven't worked with ExtremeControl personally, but my group has been working with it since 2018. I'm a product manager.

ExtremeControl seems to be stable. We haven't installed the latest one yet because the building is not ready to take any IT equipment, but we have ExtremeControl deployed in other places in the same area. However, I can't speak to the stability personally, because I'm not using it. I am only the project manager.

The company also uses Cisco ISE in other places. I have been told that ExtremeControl is easier to use than ISE. The other reason we prefer ExtremeControl is stability. That's why they chose it for this big hospital in Oslo.

I'm not responsible for deploying ExtremeControl, so I can't say if it's difficult to deploy. Some other projects in my company may have it deployed on the cloud, but I'm unsure. I'm working on a massive project that will finish in autumn 2024. We're using ExtremeControl and other Extreme components for that. 

We have a team of two or three experts who install and maintain the solution. I don't think they spent much time on it because they have experience working with ExtremeControl from other projects. Overall, the project takes a long time to reach the production stage. It's about a year before we are ready to go into production.

We have a group that does maintenance, and the hospital has its own technicians. I don't know how many of them are doing this, but I would assume it's maybe 20 because you have to support it 24/7. 

ExtremeControl costs less than Cisco ISE. That's one reason ExtremeControl is a success.

I rate ExtremeControl eight out of 10. 

We don't like ExtremeControl on-premises because it's missing most features. There is information on migrating most of the cloud system's features, but there isn't enough development for the on-premises controller. In addition, the on-premises controller is very ugly.

We mainly use this solution for hospitality for some hotels.

The on-premises controller is very annoying. It's missing many features and options and is not as professional as on cloud.

We have been using this solution for over three years.

It is quite stable, and I rate the stability an eight out of ten.

It is not scalable for both cloud and on-premises. I rate the scalability a four out of ten. We have six customers using the on-premises solution and four customers using cloud.

The technical support for on-premises is not great, but it is okay for cloud.

The initial setup was complex for on-premises but straightforward for cloud. It takes five or six steps to deploy APs from scratch on the on-premises controller and takes a lot of time. It wastes one or two days of our engineers' time. We need two technical staff for the deployment.

The ROI is low, and I rate it a four out of ten.

There are annual licensing costs.

I highly recommend this solution for cloud, but I do not recommend it for on-premises. I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

We use ExtremeControl for network switching management.

The solution is easy to use.

I have used the solution for five years. 

The solution is stable.

The installation is easy, it can take between five minutes to four hours depending on the complexity of the environment. The speed of the installation could improve for more complex environments.

We did the implementation of the solution.

We are replacing ExtremeControl with a Cisco solution.

I rate ExtremeControl an eight out of ten.

I'm a pre-sales engineer, working at Egypt's largest university. I have experience with firewalls such as FortiManager from Fortinet, Sophos XG and NG, Cisco ASA and Palo Alto Firewall. In addition, I'm involved with network security, monitoring software and as a port analyzer and port manager, and I also have experience with Extreme Networks Management software and Network Access Control solutions.

We've implemented ExtremeControl at our university. It enables us to control all access points, firewalls, and switches. Using Extreme Network Access Control provides availability on VNN to import users for authenticated access for individuals at the University, including staff, students, and others. 

Our agents can see most of the topics being searched on the university internet. The traffic is analyzed. In Egypt, internet access is expensive so we try to use sites that can consume our traffic efficiently. Like everybody, we don't want it wasted on personal use, rather for university use only. 

The most valuable aspect of the product is that I can know which end users are using which features, the type they are using, and the kind of traffic coming through, even when we're in our network. I have that recognition which is great. 

The product could be improved by allowing us to control all users in the network, overall layers, end to end. I'd like to have access to more information on the traffic passing through. 
The product has been sufficient for our needs, meaning that I'm able to configure additional devices at the same time and as I see fit. I haven't seen other products to get a comparison but I would like to see more integration with other products and possibly more revisions. 

It's a stable solution. 

We haven't had any technical issues but I'm satisfied with the support available. Our software team in Extreme can provide us with more updates if there are any bugs and/or any in-house issues. Without the know-how, some problems can be expensive. It's not difficult contacting technical support, usually, we can go through our PCs using pViewer or another connection. But we haven't had any problems to date.

It was an easy setup and took about an hour. You can think of it as being more of an SSI. Following setup, we put in some protocols to provide a lot of the specifics for our network. Switches, access points, controllers, firewalls, and others. The most work was to get free access to the teachers. The system can be used with other vendors like ProHT, Huawei, and D-Link. 

The product was implemented by Extreme. 

We have 1,000 end users who are using Extreme. We have a license for up to 100 devices. There are licenses for higher numbers but that's what we have. The product is in regular use and it's not expensive. It has good compatibility features, it's cheaper than Cisco Manager but comparable in price to other software solutions. I can use it with other vendors whereas Cisco doesn't allow that. 

I would rate this product an eight out of 10. No software can get a ten out of ten, there's always room for improvement.
