We use Huawei FusionStorage while preparing business strategies and cases for efficiently storing and retrieving customer, billing, and traffic information, encompassing transactions.
The product needs improvement in terms of affordability.
I rate the platform's stability an eight and a half. There is room for improvement.
It is a scalable platform. We do have a plan to increase its usage.
We do not have a survey mechanism for feedback on the technical support services; the support interactions have consistently been positive per SLA.
It supports cloud-based deployment.
We have 80 million subscriber licenses for Huawei FusionStorage. It is expensive but might be optimal based on the partnership.
The product integrates well with different IT infrastructures and systems in the telecom sector. Our partners manage services, including detailed integration and migration-related operations.
The platform upholds the uptime and reliability of our business applications. We classify our systems into different tiers, ranging from machine-critical to business-critical, and FusionStorage helps us run all the services. It delivers a remarkable uptime of 99.9%. With our expectations for continuous service availability, we are operating 24/7. In cases where system interruptions occur, it enables rapid restoration, ensuring a prompt return to normal service levels.
I rate it an eight out of ten.

We are currently using the solution to store and process customer data. I'm an IT strategy expert and we are customers of Huawei.
This is a good solution and we haven't had any issues with it. It does a good job managing our needs and provides easy access to data.
I'd like to see better product maturity including their branding on the cloud environment. Their cloud services are not up to that of AWS, Azure or Oracle cloud platforms.
I've been using FusionStorage for over 10 years.
The solution is stable.
The solution has good scalability, we have 1,000 users.
Our engineers carried out the deployment and we didn't have any integration or installation issues. I wasn't involved in the deployment but I believe it took two months.
The solution has a good business model.
I recommend this solution and rate it seven out of 10.
Huawei FusionStorage is used for storage purposes.
The solution’s most valuable feature is its performance.
The solution’s support could be improved.
I have been using Huawei FusionStorage for two to three years.
Huawei FusionStorage is a scalable solution. Many users are using the solution in our organization.
The solution’s initial setup is easy.
Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
My company has used the product in the FSI sector. The product use cases in FSI were basically associated with the businesses' financial applications. Considering the I/O aspect and the overall financial part, Huawei FusionSphere isn't the only option. There are other options. In terms of the I/O, performance, and output we needed with the backup and other capabilities, Huawei FusionSphere was half the price of any other solution available in the market, which is a huge advantage.
For data management, Huawei FusionSphere provides licensed tools, but it almost provides features ranging from replication to deduplication to data analytics and everything within the license bundle. There are no limitations to the tool, and it is equivalent to other solutions in the market. It provides features that are very similar to those provided by NetApp. NetApp is a very good solution. Huawei FusionSphere is almost very similar to NetApp and Dell EMC. The prices of NetApp, Dell EMC, and Huawei FusionSphere are hugely different. Compared to Dell EMC, Huawei FusionSphere comes at half the price. There is not much difference in capabilities between Dell EMC and Huawei FusionSphere.
As a storage, it doesn't have many disadvantages. The problem with Huawei is that it generally oversells. As a principle, Huawei does not educate the partner or the end user enough to scale up their solution correctly. When it comes to the storage part, if you understand how to utilize it properly, then it is a very good solution.
I have been using Huawei FusionSphere for six years. My company has a partnership with Huawei.
It is a stable solution. We haven't faced any major latency issues with it.
Huawei has very good customer support, both in the zero zone and as a principal. I rate the technical support an eight or nine out of ten.
Positive
The product is very easy to deploy and configure. There are too many resources available. Huawei is present on the ground and is always available with solution backup support. The tool's engineers are available on the market.
For Huawei, we have a bigger deployment team because we have a network team. Huawei is present in Pakistan, so there is a bigger ecosystem of the solution in Pakistan. There are more Huawei-based engineers available in our country. We also have some solution engineers from Huawei. The normal engineers wouldn't include the cloud engineers. Overall, everything offers Huawei an advantage.
Huawei does provide a lot of cost savings if it is used because the initial capital expenditure cost is very low, while the operational expense is also not very high due to Huawei's own presence in the country. It does provide benefits on both ends, the capital expenditure and the operational expense.
The tool is very cheap. If one is a cheap solution and ten means it is a very expensive product, I would rate the price as two or three. Huawei is very cheap when it comes to prices compared to its competitors.
In terms of the performance aspect of the product, my company has noticed some issues in the solution. Huawei is very much available in India and Pakistan, and the tool is willing to do research and development. The tool is willing to offer full support if something comes up or arises and we face a major shutdown in FSI, where a shutdown is a very critical thing. The product promptly offers support services for the problem. There were some problems with the backup and some data or analytics-related issues. There wasn't any problem with the integration part, but there was some problem with the backup and analytics.
The product is easy to maintain due to a lot of resources available, and there are not many problems with the solution as well. Principal support is always available, so maintenance doesn't cause a lot of problems and issues.
Huawei is not easy to integrate with other systems. The problem is that other systems don't support Huawei. If I go with VMware, there are so many principles that don't integrate Huawei. Huawei can create its own ecosystem, after which it becomes very useful. If Huawei has to be integrated into an ecosystem where there are other OEMs like Lenovo or the hypervisor layer from VMware, then it becomes totally useless because there is no support from other principles, and Huawei also can't provide any support. It is nearly impossible to integrate with other tools, and this is one of the reasons why it wasn't used in the cloud with the HPC part.
Huawei does have AI integration, but it is specific to its own system and environment. In one way, AI is an advantage. If you are using Huawei's ecosystem, AI is perfect. If you are using a mix-and-match solution, then the AI part may have huge disadvantages because of the integration issues.
The product has some integration issues with the other ecosystems. Huawei is mostly limited to within its own environment and confined. If it goes out of its own ecosystem, then there there are some limitations with Huawei. If the integrations are done within Huawei's ecosystem, the tool will probably be ten out of ten.
I rate the tool a seven out of ten.
Huawei FusionStorage has been a great addition to our storage solutions. It is a reliable alternative to MSA, even if it is not always the cheapest option. Its versatility, high availability, and support for various storage protocols have made it a valuable choice for our organization, improving our data management and infrastructure.
It is hard to pick a single standout feature, as Huawei FusionStorage does well in its basic functions and offers broad utility. Additionally, it might be particularly user-friendly for Chinese customers.
I hope for improvements in the product's processing ability and performance. Also, streamlining the user interface would be beneficial. Overall, it is a solid and mature product with room for refinement.
I have been using Huawei FusionStorage for almost five years.
I would rate the stability of the product as an eight out of ten.
I would rate the scalability of the product as an eight out of ten. We have approximately 100 users of it and it is being used daily.
I would rate the technical support as a nine out of ten.
Positive
The initial setup is not very difficult. It took a few weeks and a team of two people to deploy it. When it comes to maintenance, a team of two or three people is needed.
In terms of costliness, I would rate it as a seven out of ten.
My advice to new users is that choosing Huawei FusionStorage depends on the customer's location and needs. For customers in China, considering a domestic provider like Huawei might be a good choice, especially for certain localized services, but it's important to assess individual requirements before making a recommendation. Overall, I would rate the product as an eight out of ten.
I am a solutions architect. I help people define the solutions that will work best for them. Huawei FusionStorage is software-defined storage. Mostly we propose the hardware solutions to our customers. FusionStorage is a software solution for user storage needs. Generally, we would propose using the software with something from the OceanStor series by Huawei. But you can install the software on any of the universal servers like Huawei, HP, Dell — it can be any server.
The features I know about that are the most valuable are the block, file and object storage features.
It has a very simple GUI-based management platform and it is very simple to use. There is a very easy step-by-step configuration procedure that guides you through, and you can configure it very easily.
One place where this product should be improved is in the deployment. It should be made easier and the time should be reduced. The number of software packages could be minimized and with a little effort, the deployment time can be streamlined and the time reduced.
Actually Huawei FusionStorage is a relatively new solution. We have been looking forward to deploying it here in the UAE since its release.
The product is very stable.
If you activate the FusionStorage solution, it can integrate with other solutions as well. It can work with other solutions like the MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) and Hyper-V. So it can be integrated and scaled with other solutions.
Huawei has very good support. They have support available in deep tech here in the Middle East region. If support is required from the headquarters in China because the solution does not come from the local resources, users can also get support from the experts in China. So, Huawei's support has several options and it is really very good.
The only thing I really know about the initial setup is that currently the installation is not that straightforward. There are nine or ten different software packages you have to install before the product is complete. Then it is time for the configuration. The total time to prepare it, initially, would be around 10 days.
On a scale from one to ten with one being the worst and ten being the best, I would rate this solution as an eight of ten. While I know it is an excellent solution and it will work well for our Huawei customers, we do not have any use cases here in the UAE for FusionStorage yet because it has yet to be deployed anywhere. In China, they would possibly have some of the use cases. But in the UAE, it is totally new. Actual customer feedback is very important because the economy of software has changed and the customer is the one testing the product.
