I sell these technologies to other companies and primarily, banks use these kinds of technologies. They further use it for expanding B2B and B2C processes, resolving internal interchange processes, including transferring larger data files between them. This product also helps to solve security issues and move information across offices digitally, when they are physically not accessible.
They have multiple features for each kind of task and issue. The company has different channels to give information to the administration. Security and integration capabilities are also important. This product has helped to replace a lot of other solutions, saving time and cost.
The only weaknesses they have different governance for each task and different channels for communication which are hard to maintain.
The relation of the company with other companies can be improved. We have a lot of customers who this platform for the interchange of information which can also be improved. The compliance information about banks can also be updated.
I have been using IBM Sterling B2B Intergration for fifteen (15) years.
They have a good pricing system, in relation to powerful features.
I would rate the product 10 out of 10 overall.
They have best-in-class, quality support.
They can improve APIs because they are still lagging behind in API connectivity. With non-API connectivity, they're market leaders, but API connectivity, they're still in the immature space.
I've been using it for around seven years.
Mostly, I work with both private cloud and public cloud deployments.
I would give nine out of ten for stability.
For scalability, I would give 10 out of 10.
IBM has best-in-class support, with a rating of five out of five.
The initial setup is at a medium level of difficulty, depending on the level of expertise.
Pricing is a little bit on the higher side because they give you the best support. Out of ten, I would rate pricing at seven or eight.
If you're in retail domain and are dealing with customers, then this is a good solution for you. Go for it so that you will have best-in-class support and best-in-class developers from the IBM side. Go with the SaaS model and not the on-premises model to get all the support.

We use it for B2B transactions with different partners that are going into our backend system.
Being a manufacturing company, we are dealing with different customers and catering to different orders. EDI is very helpful for us because the ordering can be done via EDI, and the orders can be processed outright, which is a big advantage.
We are able to monitor all B2B messages, and we are able to see or track each message on it from an error perspective. That's a good side of it.
It is working well, and we're able to do our current job.
It can be now classified as a legacy system because there are no more updates. From what I know, there will be no updates for the current version, which is an issue. Therefore, we are looking for a compatible new software that we can use. We're currently researching what is there in the market. We would consider something that would give us better speed on our current processor.
There is also room for improvement in terms of its scalability and GUI. It is an old system, and its scalability can be improved. Its GUI can also be more appealing.

Our backend is SAP, and it works well with that. If you are using SAP, this is a good option because there is a connector that you can use to connect to SAP. It does the job, and it can support whatever EDI you have.

Onboarding on the solution is complex. It's hard to onboard partners and customer suppliers. It's one aspect that is not that straightforward.
IPI functionality is there, however, it be expanded. That would be very helpful to us.
It's difficult to say what's missing due to the fact that the suite really covers a full range of practicals and security features and monitoring.
A small feature that could be added would be the ability to send alerts to mobile devices.
I've been dealing with the solution since around 2012. It's been just under ten years.
We haven't had any issues surrounding stability. It's pretty reliable.
The solution has very good scalability. It's definitely one of the major benefits of the solution overall. We're a multi-tenanted platform. We use sheets and we scale it every day to as new customers get onboarded. In terms of fall volumes it's extremely scalable in terms of partners that you onboard, it is very scalable.
Technical support is good.
Due to the fact that the solution is so complex and might be in such a high-volume environment, we make use of technical support a lot. Specialized support is available. That's a major advantage. It's not just superficial. They are really, very strong specialists. They are extremely knowledgable and very responsive. We're quite satisfied with the service we get.
The initial setup is actually in between easy complex. It's not straightforward. It has levels of complexity.
It takes about three months to deploy the product.
We handled the implementation ourselves in-house with our own team. We didn't use a consultant or integrator.
Their pricing has changed recently. They're bundling items. There are various pricing options available now. It's a wide range of pricing options, which makes it much more attractive for your mid-market customers.
Overall, for how we use it and the way our organization is arranged, this solution works very well for us. I'd rate it at a nine out of ten.
I would definitely recommend it to other organizations. It's got a lot of scalability built into it and a lot of versatility built into it. It can act as an integration platform, or it can act as a file gateway with multiple articles. It can also meet a lot of your security requirements.
The B2B Sterling platform is basically managed services, so we outsource our services to IBM and it relieves us of having resources in-house and 24/7 support. It provides availability and reliability.
It's just four months down the line, so I’m not sure about areas with room for improvement.

We had a resource in-house and the plan was to outsource it to a company. So we evaluated a bunch of different companies and chose IBM.
Setup was complex because of the nature of our business. It was straightforward from an IBM perspective.
Do your research, but IBM is available and they have good people on staff who help you along the way. When we did this, it was our first time doing it, and IBM was available.
It is essentially a service bus that exposes a whole bunch of services. You can call them microservices that are orchestrated by business processes; that is the essence of the product.
It addresses two things, i.e., it basically gives the organizations the ability to manage their communities/their partner communities, by receiving information or files from multiple organizations or multiple partners, in multiple protocols like FTPS, FTP, FPS AS2 and so on. It also allows them to do transformation and intelligent routing, inside the organization at a very high level. That's what it does.
They can certainly streamline and I think that they already are working on this in their future roadmap, in the different interface they have. Today, given the legacy it has, a lot of the setups actually need to be done in different places. The consolidation or the aggregation of all those user interfaces into one and giving more flexibility to extend the user interface in a more flexible way with modern technologies, would help.
I have been using this solution for about seven years now.
Any solution is only as good as to how it is built, so this solution is no different. It is basically set up by giving building blocks to the end user to implement. If and when the implementation is done properly, it is quite a stable product.
It needs to be architected to scale, but it can be scalable.
There is a very good support from IBM on this portfolio and it's a well-understood portfolio. It is a well-understood product, under the MFT portfolio. Thus, it is a fairly comprehensive support ecosystem that we have.
The setup is not straightforward, but it is fairly well documented. However, somebody has to understand the matrix of the documentation because it is all over the place.
This product is fairly out there in terms of usability and easy to use, such as you can implement and deploy. It's a fairly good product.
The most important criteria while selecting a vendor is that it needs to have a certain amount of reliability on the platform and good documentation for us to be able to take the product, take the framework and then build on top of it.
The IBM documentation is fairly good. It has been built over the years and it's at the point where it is pretty mature with a few exceptions on the emerging areas but for the most part, it is a fairly well-documented product. It has what it needs for the most part, i.e., for 90% of enterprises and for 10% edge case needs a whole lot of heavy outside of the box customization or heavy automation. For the most part, it works as marketed.
For us, we've basically outsourced the onboarding and translation of all of our electronic data interchange (EDI) with our customers. We've got a lot of trading partners. The value that they talked about bringing forth is that IBM has a lot of connections with trading partners, so we shouldn't have to start from ground zero on each one.
So far, it's probably been pretty neutral.
We're looking for analytics to try to predict when customers have issues on their side. If a customer traditionally would send records through on certain volumes on certain days and there's an interruption in that volume, we want IBM to tell us when our customers are having trouble before our customers tell us they have trouble or before we detect that we're not getting the loads. Can they do some analytics or trending to predict that? That's what we're asking them to do.
I need to see the innovation that they talked about in the road map actually come to fruition.
We actually had an issue the morning I provided this review. We are looking for IBM to be a little more proactive and predictive in finding issues, for example, of file size and things along those lines. We had a customer send through a file erroneously that was too big for them to handle in their service, so it blew up our processes. What we're asking IBM to do is be proactive and see those files before it impacts our whole system.
Technical support resolved our issue very quickly, but I asked, "Why can't you use Watson to help figure that out before it blows up and interrupts my company's business?"
I kind of was involved with the initial setup. I've taken this group on since then, but my manager was very involved in that. Ours setup is complex, but they did a good job.
Our CIO had a relationship with IBM and said, "I want to do it." I think that we looked to use this relationship, as opposed to considering other vendors.
The biggest thing for me when choosing a vendor is that, if I have issues, I need to know that they're going to help me resolve it from an immediate perspective and long term.
From our perspective, we've really outsourced an entire team. That has gone very well if that's what you're looking for. They do have some of the basic setups with some customers. It's probably not as much as they sold us in their value proposition, so be cautious about that. They do have a platform. They do deliver what they said they're supposed to do. You just got to look at it; keep your eyes open.
