I'm using the Kace 1000 and Kace 2000. The 1000 is just for a ticketing system. Then I have the 2000 which I am just using for deploying imaging PCs.
We do deployment with the patches and imaging.
It's a pretty straightforward tool. Its ticketing is pretty good.
I have heard feedback that the imaging is slow. It takes somewhere around an hour to image one PC.
Accessing the inventory piece needs to be improved. We are going to refresh a PC every four years. We need something that can handle that. We're going to keep the EWAs form in there. We want to have the form, some kind of form, where we have the inventory and all we have to do, is just come in and view the EWAs or survey that equipment. Otherwise, you have to go in and check and say to remove it out of the system manually. We want some kind of way to keep track of everything, similar to an assessment management system.
They need to have some kind of system whereby, if you have the schedule to deploy, if they missed the deployment, then they can pull back and wait for next time, instead of pushing then waiting as soon as the PC turns on and then just dumps the file to the PC.
The imaging is kind of slow. There are performance issues and also some of the locations that you want to send out to in order to deploy the patch have low bandwidth. Normally we deploy out over the weekend. We send out a patch over the weekend and it stops to turn off the computer. Then, by Monday, they come in and everything gets downloaded to that PC and works well. Basically, it takes up a lot of resources, to the point it would affect a user's work if it was done during office hours.
I don't directly deal with technical support. I've never called them.
The deployment process is pretty straightforward. The whole solution is easy to deal with.
I would rate the solution at a four out of five for pricing. It's pretty reasonable.

I'd recommend the solution to others. It has a good balance between pricing and functionality. That said, if a user wants to do a little bit more with it - if they want to do inventory assessment management, that piece is missing. Kace needs improvements in that area. Otherwise, a user will have to have their own solution to integrate with Kace.
We're hoping the technology will improve a lot. I'd rate it a seven out of ten. However, in the future, I see them developing better tools.
