| Author info | Rating | Review Summary |
|---|---|---|
| System Administrator at NaxoNet | 4.0 | I've used Stormshield Network Security for years, valuing its strong features and compliance. I need active-active HA, custom DNS support, and improved dynamic IPsec. Despite rising costs and great support, I still rate it 8/10. |
| Network Engineer at ACS2I | 4.0 | I find the dashboard feature of Stormshield Network Security highly valuable for managing different aspects on a single page. Its intrusion detection system efficiently detects and responds to threats. We chose it because our client specifically requested this solution. |
| Functional Analyst, Project Manager at a consultancy with 11-50 employees | 4.0 | I value StormShield's IPS, firewall, and excellent price, using it for Azure hub-and-spoke security after Azure Firewall proved too costly. Installation guidance needs improvement, and integration can be complex, but support is available. |
| Network and Security Engineer at ONB | 4.0 | I find Stormshield a strong, easy-to-configure firewall with good rule management and AD integration. While stable and scalable, filtering configuration could improve, and its lack of online tutorials makes adoption challenging. |
| Works at a educational organization with 51-200 employees | 4.5 | I've used Stormshield Network Security for four years for VPN and filtering. It's a very stable, excellent solution, but I find it complex to use and its price is high, though vendor support was great. I rate it 9/10. |
| manager at systemtech computer | 5.0 | I use Stormshield Network Security for UTM, appreciating its ease of use as its standout feature. However, there is room for improvement in its pricing. I haven't used any previous or alternate solutions and don't use a cloud provider. |
| Owner at a tech services company with 1-10 employees | 4.0 | As a Stormshield distributor, I find it robust, offering more security for less than competitors. However, the product design and manufacturer's technical support are poor. Sales channels are also difficult, and multi-language reporting needs improving. |
| CEO & Founder at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees | 4.0 | I find this solution stable, scalable, and easily manageable, offering more features than previous options. However, I'm concerned about SD card security and customer service responsiveness. I rate it an 8 out of 10. |
| Network and Server Engineer at AMiFN | 3.5 | I find this local network security solution performs well and is easy to configure and use. However, it lacks next-gen firewall features and sandbox support. Technical support needs improvement, though the price is fair. |
| Network Engineer at a tech services company with 201-500 employees | 5.0 | I rate this network security solution highly for its strong features, stability, and performance. However, I find its pricing too high and the captive portal requires significant improvements for better browser compatibility, along with simplifying security policies. |

The GUI of Stormshield Network Security is good, and I find it to be one of the most valuable features.
The advanced intrusion prevention system of Stormshield Network Security is also good.
Stormshield Network Security's application control is handy.
The multi-layered security approach of Stormshield Network Security is a good one and has helped with compliance.
I haven't had a task that I couldn't solve with Stormshield Network Security. The active-active high availability solution would be beneficial because currently, if you build a high availability solution with Stormshield Network Security, you have a main device and another one is a backup device. The HA can switch between them, but it would be good to have a master-master solution, not just a master-slave one.
I could set a URL that I can call to update the DNS record. Currently, Stormshield Network Security devices support DynDNS, which is not a usual feature request from a server environment. I have my own solution instead of DynDNS because I don't prefer it, so I have my own service for that. However, the GUI does not support using a custom service instead of DynDNS. I had to solve it in the console on Stormshield Network Security device, but it would be much better if it was reachable on the GUI.
I had to figure out a trick for the IPsec configuration. In the IPsec config, we have to provide the remote side's IP address, but it's always changing. This means that an office, for example a company that has an office but without a fixed IP address, cannot be used with IPsec VPN.
The pricing is increasing, and I would say it is a bit expensive. Palo Alto and others are much more expensive, but Stormshield Network Security is also not inexpensive. My overall review rating for Stormshield Network Security is eight out of ten.

The tool's most valuable feature is its dashboard, which helps you manage different aspects of a single page. The intrusion detection system helps our organization by automatically detecting and responding to potential threats. It operates similarly to Darktrace, which detects and responds automatically based on the security rules you apply. Initially, you configure everything to block, and then you can whitelist specific items as needed.
I have been working with the product for ten years.
I rate Stormshield Network Security's stability an eight out of ten.
My company has 25 customers. I rate its scalability a nine out of ten.
My company chose Stormshield Network Security because our client wanted it.
I haven't faced any issues with the tool's installation. It takes one day to complete, and you would need two to three engineers to deploy it.
The tool is like a firewall and works well. I don't have any issue with it. I rate it an eight out of ten.
My primary use cases are : security through "Hub and Spoke" architecture (virtual networking), components : SFTP Container instance, data factory, Azure SQL, storage accounts, and the firewall.
The StormShield solution has enabled us to fully implement best practices from Microsoft in the cloud : the hub and spoke architecture.
The most valuable features are the IPS, the firewall function, and the price.
The guidance for installations could be improved. But assistance finally was there and brilliantly filling in the few gaps.
I've been using this solution for about two weeks.
I've only had a short experience with this solution so far, so I would not give any feedback on this aspect.
Courtesy was always there. We needed to contact the StormShield support a few times, then with the help the professional services interlocutor, we have managed to get the last few tips necessary to complete the full setup.
Positive
I previously used Azure Firewall but had to switch as the cost was so high. However, Azure is fully-integrated, whereas with Stormshield, there are difficulties joining things, and it can be a bit more complex depending on the architecture.
The setup is quite straightforward, but the documentation does not include all the necessary information, which makes the process harder than it should be. Our setup is now complete and the Firewall uses 100% of its functionalities, thanks to a free online technical assistance for setting up the "out" (public) towards "in" (private) towards the SFTP container instance.
During installation, I had a bug, so I contacted Stormshield and our provider, Tech Data, for advice.
To be determined
We chose Stormshield for its price, as the Azure firewall was too expensive at 11,000 euros a year. Stormshield's pricing is much better - we have a three-year plan that includes everything except the VM at about 1500 euros i.e. 500 euros a year.
I would rate this solution as eight out of ten.
I use Stormshield Network Security for the firewall.
I like how you can configure the rules. There is the task for the rules and a task for the network configuration. It also provides SMD filtering, and it can be integrated with the active directory for the users, their mission, and the VPN configuration.
We are here in Sudan, and Stormshield didn't work in Sudan for more than a decade. Stormshield is a very strong firewall and very easy to configure and maintain. I am just working with the firewall solution, and we don't have any other solutions like endpoint solutions or something like that.
The filtering configuration could be better. We have some difficulties with the filtering configuration and the filter extension. It's not that easy. It's not that straightforward. In the next release, I would like to see a reporting system.
Stormshield doesn't have any tutorials on how to do the configuration and things like that. They just have documentation on the website. If you want to configure, for example, Cisco or Fortinet, you can find tutorials on YouTube. They show you how to configure the features, and so on. In Stormshield, there is nothing on social media or the internet on how to configure different things. The lack of documentation or the lack of material makes it difficult for others to adopt this solution.
I have been using Stormshield Network Security for seven or eight years.
Stormshield Network Security is stable. I think if you choose the right box, it'll work properly for you.
Stormshield Network Security is scalable, and I didn't find any limitations in the box.
The initial setup was straightforward.
I think the price is good.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give Stormshield Network Security an eight.
We use Stormshield Network Security for IPsec VPN, URL filtering, QoS and the other ones. We also use it for SSL VPN for the user and some other things.
I like that it works fine. Stormshield is a very good solution.
It could be better if it were more user-friendly for us as we dont use it very often evn if we never had problems to modify setup when needed.
Stormshield Network Security is a very stable solution. We haven't had any problems with it.
The solution works perfectly so we never had to contact technical support
We used Arkoon solution during 10 years and it worked perfectly. Arkoon evolved and was replaced by Stormshield solutions
Vendor team did it for us using previous Arkoon setup. It was done in a half day.
vendor team : level of expertise was perfect (10/10)
We bought a three-year license, and we renew it whenever it expires. The price could be lower but firewall licenses are always expensive.
I would tell potential users that it's a very good solution although I heard Palo Alto was also a very good solution.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give Stormshield Network Security a nine.
We use the solution for UTM.
The product must improve its pricing.
I have been using the solution for more than five years.
The tool is stable. I rate the stability a ten out of ten.
The tool is very scalable. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten. Our clients are mostly medium to enterprise-level businesses. To upgrade the users, we just need to download the proper firmware.
The support engineers are very qualified.
Positive
I rate the ease of setup a ten out of ten. Deployment takes one to two days. It depends on the requirement and the environment of the users.
The product needs low maintenance. We need two or three people to deploy the solution, including our engineers and the staff from the customer’s company.
We pay for the quality we receive.
I highly recommend the solution. It is a very stable product. Overall, I rate the product a ten out of ten.
We are a value-added distributor of Stormshield and I'm the owner of the company.
This is a very robust product. We've sold it here in the U.S.
I'd like to see an improvement in the design of the product. Improvement is also needed in terms of the technical support of the manufacturer, they're not very responsive when it comes to technical support. They're also not very active on presales. Those are the main issues.
I'd like to see a strengthening of the ransomware component. The former version that we have has no ransomware on it. The reporting also needs improvement so that we can receive it in several languages. We leave some of the equipment with customers and monitor security for them. Each month we have to pull a report and most of the time, some of the languages are not available so it also requires translation.
I've been using this solution for eight years.
Stormshield's pretty robust, compared to other products like Fortinet. You get more security with Stormshield and spend less money.
We have a total of about 60 people using Stormshield, and they are deployed throughout various departments. We have our PKI platform, and it's used there. We also have some Stormshield equipment on another network. I'd say 50% of the people here are on Stormshield, working on projects or connecting to the networks.
When you don't know the product, the initial setup is a little complex. But once you're familiar with it, it's pretty easy to configure it with the parameters. Deploymentook us five days but deployment time would depend on the security policy that you have within your organization. What is the policy? What are you trying to protect? The program has so many features that one cannot activate all of them, but you need to activate and put parameters in the system based on your policy. As resellers, we have people who have been trained to deploy and support it.
We have a perpetual license so we just pay for maintenance. We've had training in maintenance so we tend to do it ourselves unless we need some upgrade. In that case, we ask the manufacturer to come and help.
We did an apples-to-apples comparison of Stormshield and some of the Fortinet equipment, and we've seen that Fortinet is a bit more expensive. In terms of security, Fortinet offers less than we've seen with Stormshield. Stormshield lacks the huge marketing budget that Fortinet has to go out there and make themselves known.
I would advise being very patient when it comes to getting pricing from the company. We used to have a direct contact with Stormshield when it was Netasq. After a few years they tried to appoint a so-called master distributor. Apparently that is not working and the sale channels are scrambled and pretty difficult.
I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.
We are an IT service provider not end users. We are the only service provider of this solution in Central Africa. I'm the CEO and a founding partner of the company.
I like that the solution can be managed in a variety of environments, and that it provides us with a shield.
Many products are in front of the firewall and anybody can pick them up and the firewall will crash. It requires protection of the software and the SD card to avoid that kind of damage. I don't feel the SD card is particularly secure.
I've been using this solution for two years.
This is a stable solution.
It is a scalable solution
Support is always and issue because they're constantly busy. It can take a few hours to get a response. When we sell the product to a new customer we also need to get through to them and it can sometimes take several days.
There are numerous differences in the various solutions. I feel we have more options with the Stormshield firewall and new features that we haven't previously had. Cisco, for example, doesn't have the features that Stormshield has.
Implementation is very simple although variable depending on the features that require management. If it's just about configuring to set up internet access with basic filing options, it would take less than an hour and only requires one person.
Licensing cost depends on the features that you need. VPN is included in the license, for example, but if you want to buy antivirus or anti spam, there is an additional cost.
I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.
We use this solution for the security of our local network.
The performance of this solution is good.
This solution is quick and easy to configure.
The Web GUI is easy to use. It is clear and I have had no problems with it.
Stormshield is easy for administrators to use.
The technical support for this solution needs to be improved.
This is not a next-generation firewall.
The VPN portal needs to be improved, although it functions.
This solution does not have support for a sandbox.
We used to have more bugs and crashes, and trouble with the Anti-Spam feature, but the solution is now ok.
We have between one hundred and one hundred and fifty users.
The users' devices include Wi-Fi, phones, and computers. We also have five servers on the network. All of our users are end-users.
The technical support for this solution in Poland is not good.
I have been in touch with them by phone and by email. Their response time is not quick.
The initial setup of this solution is easy. The configuration is quick and easy.
The price of this solution and the price of support are ok. They are not expensive. Support is paid on a yearly basis.
Purchasing additional options is expensive.
This is a solution that is stable and not expensive, but it is not a next-generation firewall.
I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
The primary use case of this solution is for network security, to deploy controlled users, and to prevent the network from attacks.
The deployment model we are using is on-premises.
The solution permits me to control everything in the network including, users, Wi-Fi, access, Kuta for users, and load balancing.
It has also taught me how to deal with users with vulnerabilities, the good side and the bad side of the solution, and how to control users from anywhere.
The most valuable features of this solution are the URL filtering database. It is great and contains all internet categories.
The interface has great scalability. I can turn them into what I want including hybrid, bridge, or into a router mode.
The security has no back doors. It's more secure than other solutions and the hardware performance is also better than others.
The pricing of this solution needs to be decreased.
Authentication needs to be improved. If any user out of my domain wants to authenticate, he can't because the captive portal is not compatible with many browsers, like Google Chrome. This is a big problem that we are having with the captive portal. It needs to be improved.
Also, security policy needs to be more straightforward and easier.
In the next release, I would like to see the Security Policy simplified. It has a few features, like, Filter-NAT, URL filtering, and SSL filtering, but it would be nice if there were a way to combine the features in one tab or to create a setup wizard for this option.
I would like to create a Filer-NAT rule to decrypt or to block some sites with HTTPS and HTTP. I think that there is a way to combine them using a wizard to create the rule.
This solution is stable.
This solution is scalable.
We have five hundred users, and six of them are technicians.
I am from the Middle East and they are in America. I contacted them twice and they were very helpful. They helped me to test the situation.
Previously we did not use another solution. This was the first one.
The initial setup was not complex for me, but it was for other technicians who were using the firewall. They need time to understand how the firewall is used.
The deployment took about two days to complete and deploy correctly.
The implementation was done by myself. I am the technical support in Egypt. I have been told by other agents that they prefer to work with me and no other agents.
You can choose between a standard license and a premium license.
Before choosing, we evaluated FortiGate. It was lower than Stormshield by almost double.
We chose to go with Stormshield because it is well known on the market, just like Apple and Samsung. Most are aware of this solution and go with it.
Also, it has task managing, and I haven't seen it in any other solution.
I did a comparison between FortiGate, Sophos, and Stormshield. The result was that Stormshield was better. It is stable and it has great hardware performance and security features.
I would advise others to buy an extended license for this solution. They will benefit from Kasperky Antivirus, the extended control option, and the vulnerability manager. It's a great tool for IT.
I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.
