| Vice President of Business and Finance at a university with 201-500 employees | 2.5 | I found ADTRAN Bluesocket Wireless's setup straightforward, but its lack of dashboard control, poor scalability for my 260 access points, and cumbersome support are significant issues. With unfulfilled updates, I rate it 5/10; it hasn't met my needs. |
| Manager - Data Engineering at a comms service provider with 1,001-5,000 employees | 3.0 | I found the setup simple, offering private/public cloud options for our SMB's wireless needs. It has no major issues, but AP performance could improve. Support was moderate. I used it lightly for two years. |
| Network Engineer at a university with 1,001-5,000 employees | 4.0 | I value the centralized VM-based management, which simplifies our wireless environment and reduces costs. Deployment was simple, scalability is good with VMs, and customer service is excellent. I’d like more features and MDM integration. |
| Manager of Wireless Engineering with 51-200 employees | 3.5 | We've used Adtran 3448 and 1531P for two years in retail, meeting needs and price. However, the dated AP160 and Bluesocket integration with the router 3448 remain areas for improvement. |

Having a better dashboard management system that the client can use to access and control their environment would be a nice addition to the product. They said it was going to be part of one of their updates, but we did not get it. We thought we should have in one of the updates that we did. With that, we would have been able to control the environment if we needed to do something like adding more bandwidth in certain areas. Not getting that update became kind-of problematic for us. That was one of the reasons why we had to try to find a solution with a better dashboard management system.
I think they need to get the product to the next Gen. Currently they are running on Generation 5. I know that they have a new product almost ready to come out, but they are not really ready for Gen 6 yet.
Support could be enhanced as well. With any one of their solutions, they are the means that provides the client with the flexibility and scalability to help manage the product. Instead of the current system where you have to send them a support ticket and then have to go back and forth to get something done, I just think that users should have better control over the process. Their current process does not allow you to have that kind of control. That may be just my limited experience.
We have been using ADTRAN Bluesocket Wireless since 2014.
From my knowledge, we feel that this solution is not scalable enough for us. It could have been a situation where we just do not know everything about the product. But we feel that it is not as scalable as we thought. It needed more scalability to be to bring on the flexibility that we expected.
We have 260 access points deployed across the campus and we have had to make considerations and concessions to our plans based on what we feel are limitations of the product.
I think that the technical support is okay. I just think that the process is a little cumbersome for me. Things are not expedited as we would expect and the lag times lead to extended access issues. In the end, that is not acceptable.
We are currently considering other solutions because of the limitations of the dashboard management for things that are important to our deployment like controlling bandwidth.
I believe the initial setup was straightforward. I can not remember exactly how much time it took. It may have been maybe two or three weeks. I know it was no more than a month.
We did use the ADTRAN — the vendor company — to help out with the integration. We used a different vendor or partner to install the product.
The cost for our organization was like thirty-something-thousand dollars a year for the 260 access points.
On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as only about a five-out-of-ten. It has a lot of potential areas for improvement and has not completely met our needs.
Options of Private or Public Cloud.
It has allowed our SMB team to provide an easy wireless solution.
AP performance.
Two years, very lightly though.

It was simple to set-up.
We used a vendor called Adtran Aces
Yes we also looked at Cisco and Merak.
Aces program is nice for simple pass through SMB solutions.
Being able to centralize the wireless environment using virtual machines and having all AP management in the same place (our data centers). This is very big because now we don't have to manage multiple devices out in the field. Costs also go down because now you don't have to worry about maintenance on those controllers.
Instead of having 100 controllers scattered around through the organization, the entire system can be managed through a few VMs at a centralized location.
Additional features other vendors have might be useful as well as an MDM integration.
5+ years
No, deployment was very simple to additional sites once the main system (VM) is up and running.
No issues were encountered on my end.
I believe as we kept adding more and more locations to the system, we began to “outgrow” the recommended resources, but since management is VM based, resources (memory, CPUs) were easily bumped up. New recommendations on their end appear to also have changed according to our experience.
Excellent. The customer service teams are very responsive and don't mind dropping by the office for meetings if needed.
Technical Support:Engineers who assisted us with the setup and the various random questions we threw at them for various scenarios over the years were very attentive and knowledgeable.

The initial set-up was fairly straightforward because of the instructions provided. We also had assistance from support engineers as well with best practice suggestions.
In-house engineer took care of the work with vendor suggestions, but mostly in-house.
To support scalability, ensure the product is used with a VM solution so resources can easily be added if needed.
The 3448 and the 1531P both serve the basic purpose of our customers’ needs and meet the price point. - 9/10
The AP160 is dated and not yet integrated into the Bluesocket family and we can't run a good Bluesocket cloud solution with the router 3448 - 6/10
The routing and switching are the backbone/staple of this build.
Adtran 3448, Adtran 1531P, and Adtran 160 AP are deployed for a customer in their retail clothing environment. These devices constitute the network infrastructure on each retail site location and support IP cameras, Mobile POS on iPads, As well as people counters and traditional POS registers
Bluesocket integration with router and AP160.
About 2 years now.
