Increases service to customers while systematically reducing costs
Pros and Cons
  • "AA allows you to create processes using 3 types of robots: Task Bot, Meta Bot, and IQ Bot. Instead of rewriting redundant code for processes, a meta bot can be used instead. This type of robot is best used for complex scalable processes. IQ Bot: The most powerful of the 3 types of robots is the IQ Bot."
  • "The debugger is also a weakness of the tool, forcing the developer to use error handling or message box to map errors. Few applications take more time for loading when integrated."

What is our primary use case?

I am a Digital Transformation Consultant & my role revolves around suggesting, recommending & implementing the best automation solution across to my clients. Some of them also include:

a) Lower operating costs

b) Faster ROI

c) Ability to be more competitive

Giving the right automation solutions can reap major benefits. Understanding these benefits—and some obstacles—will help us develop support for an operations automation project. The primary benefits of operations automation cited most often were cost reduction, productivity, availability, reliability, and performance.

How has it helped my organization?

Automation Anywhere (AA) has helped me in suggesting, recommending & implementing the best automation solution across to my client

AA is a better and more intelligent approach to cost containment and reduction. The greatest opportunity is to increase service to the customer (end-user) while systematically reducing costs. Management often overlooks this potential for savings. Most modern servers have a low operating cost and the total cost of ownership has been declining. AA solution has helped to streamline operations in businesses of all sizes.

What is most valuable?

The benchmarking scores, the latest technology improvements & the use cases are the most valuable aspects.

  • Intelligent automation for business and IT tasks.
  • Uses SMART Automation Technology.
  • Rapidly Automates complex and complicated tasks.
  • Create automation tasks like recording keyboard strokes and mouse clicks.
  • Distribute tasks to multiple computers

AA allows you to create processes using 3 types of robots: Task Bot, Meta Bot, and IQ Bot. Instead of rewriting redundant code for processes, a meta bot can be used instead. This type of robot is best used for complex scalable processes. IQ Bot: The most powerful of the 3 types of robots is the IQ Bot.

What needs improvement?

With more demo recordings and positive real-time reviews from the clients. AA should provide a free evaluation period so it is easy to attract new customers. It is not able to use OCR effectively and has limited usability. Handwritten documents are still a drawback.

It is also difficult in terms of control room management. The debugger is also a weakness of the tool, forcing the developer to use error handling or message box to map errors. Few applications take more time for loading when integrated.

Converted daily routine tasks into automated processes at minimal cost with available infrastructure
Pros and Cons
  • "AA control room is one central system to manage our tasks. We found it excellent to administrate. It was used for easy scheduling of process/task in Remote desktop. This helped to avoid manual intervention to trigger tasks."
  • "The accuracy in Web Recorder needs to be improved, defective outputs found most of the time(not sure if is a website side issue)."

What is our primary use case?

It is primarily used for automating manual processes in Project. Automation was carried out in a two-way process, downloading files from client email and scanning values from PDF file. Post these values were compared with thresholds and return mail is sent. Most of the process is carried out in the Windows environment and the Gmail suite is used as the target output location. It also included SAP application BEx for downloading the file as an Excel sheet and sent as an attachment to an email. This was all implemented in AA, and saved a few man-hours in Project.

How has it helped my organization?

It was helpful in managing manual task automations and innovative ways to be introduced to projects. It most benefitted us in converting daily routine tasks into automated processes at minimal cost with available infrastructure. This was the most valuable use, that it didn't cost clients infrastructure. Also, a daily status update of the process is sent through an email easily, updating all stakeholders with daily status. The overall features proved a profitable deal in implementing AA in Project.

What is most valuable?

AA control room is one central system to manage our tasks. We found it excellent to administrate. It was used for easy scheduling of process/task in Remote desktop. This helped to avoid manual intervention to trigger tasks.

Also, various features like easy email and file reading eg: PDF, XML, etc were innovatively helpful to scan out values and use as variables in code.

Another helpful feature is the easy command sidebar provided, where we can easily drag and drop a required command.

What needs improvement?

The accuracy in Web Recorder needs to be improved, defective outputs found most of the time(not sure if is a website side issue).

You cannot add dynamic variables in PDF scanned values, hopefully, this can be added as a new feature in future.

Integration with most-used email applications eg: Gmail, Outlook, etc for ease in sending mails without any configuration of port or hostname. This could help to concentrate on actual problems, instead of spending time to figure out port and hostname for sending or receiving emails.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AA for the last five months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Recognizable stability observed in tool with various tasks performed in parallel.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability may vary situation with each situation. According to me, most of the time we will get expected results with substantial capacity of computation in the process.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer and technical support both were supportive and were able to provide solutions quickly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Blue Prism and the reason we switched was because we found more ease in using features and less documentation required compared to Blue Prism.

How was the initial setup?

Complex, since there are multiple applications involved, SAP, EMail through Gmail suite. Setting up an application in remote desktop with access to SAP and emails.

What about the implementation team?

In-house.

What was our ROI?

Our ROI is 22.81%.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

License for AA, before investing in infrastructure list out and analyze the current setup, since AA can be implemented at a minimal cost as well without extra infra/setup.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We previously used Blue Prism.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Makes automating terminal screens easy, but the capability to copy code between bots would be helpful
Pros and Cons
  • "The robust and flexible nature of the product gives it the capability to automate almost all rule-based processes in each and every ERP application that is currently available in the market."
  • "As a business user, I would like to have a feature wherein the bot is run on demand, whenever an email with a specific keyword or whenever a specific pers sends an email to the bot's email address."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use is to provide a digital solution with a view to delivering robust, time-efficient, and error-free solutions to business customers. The requirements for every customer are quite different depending upon their return on investment measures, the need for automation in their organization, etc.

Other than that, I as an individual have found a fondness towards the product, which helps me automate all of my day-to-day activities. They are monotonous and the bot can jump in and make my work life such that I can breathe a little easier.

My environment varies from customer to customer.

How has it helped my organization?

Automation Anywhere has not only my organization but several customers as well. Particularly the organizations from the automobile industry have benefitted from AA in their vision to transform their business objective towards the path of digital transformation.

In fact, there are more than 25 customers that we have or will have partnerships with. These groups are willing to invest more in automation so that their valuable resources are not wasting their time and energy with monotonous work. Instead, they are better utilized in improving their employee value and thus helping the organization grow.

What is most valuable?

It is very difficult to automate Telnet and Terminal screens using Java or Python. Automation Anywhere has made the automation of these processes pretty much hassle-free and easy to use.

The robust and flexible nature of the product gives it the capability to automate almost all rule-based processes in each and every ERP application that is currently available in the market.

Another added advantage of this product is its capability to automate web-based processes and its ability to automate all processes without compromising a single bit on security.

What needs improvement?

As a developer, I would like to have copy commands available from one bot to another. It is a tedious task to write the same snippet of code in different bots again and again, whereas I could simply copy and paste the patch of code, like in the older versions.

As a business user, I would like to have a feature wherein the bot is run on demand, whenever an email with a specific keyword or whenever a specific person sends an email to the bot's email address. Thereby, I need not worry about setting up a schedule in the WebCR.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Automation Anywhere Enterprise for two years, and the A2019 version for five months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The software can automate almost all web based or desktop based applications. Its wide range of commands makes it possible to automate almost any rule based process with ease.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is pretty good as it covers pretty much all of the applications and almost all processes can be automated.

How are customer service and technical support?

More often than not, I have a quick response from their support team. Hence, I would say I am pretty much happy with the way they are organized as a support team.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have always been a user of Automation Anywhere and did not work with another RPA product.

How was the initial setup?

The Express mode installation is pretty straight forward. However, the SSO (Single sign-on) enablement, which is a requirement for many customers, is a bit complicated because the certificate needs to be installed.

What about the implementation team?

For customers, we have the Automation Anywhere team to support us in case we need any assistance. Otherwise, we do the installation on our own.

As far as the expertise of the Automation Anywhere team, I must admit that they know their product and are very skilled at it.

What was our ROI?

I think the organization has been making some real profits with the help of this product, although I don't really have access to the numbers.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My organization had a partnership with Automation Anywhere and hence did not have much of a choice.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Increased the productivity of the current processes
Pros and Cons
  • "With the help of Bot, it has increased the productivity of the current process and we do not need to spend more time on error resolution and rectification."
  • "Many clients use the Citrix environment but AA has very low functionality to automate a Citrix environment."

What is our primary use case?

We have so many use cases. One of them is in finance. We have a finance portal where the team updates the billing records. Based on the Excel input, the file bot creates entries in different modules based on conditions. One error bot maintains a log. It takes value input dynamically and the tool is very flexible so in case of any changes in the future, the developer or user doesn't have to change the code. They can do it with the help of configurable files. At the end of the process, the bot sends an intimation mail to the end-user with the bot execution status.

How has it helped my organization?

With the help of Bot, it has increased the productivity of the current process and we do not need to spend more time on error resolution and rectification.

While doing processes manually, the user has to manually open all the Excel files and needs to check each and every row one by one to check a few validations and conditions. For that, the user has to filter all the unique records that were very time-consuming. In case of invalid records, the user has to manually update a few fields into that. Now, with the help of Automation Anywhere Bot it's being handle automatically, and work that would take one week is now being completed within an hour.

What is most valuable?

There are many valuable features available but the Automation Anywhere learning portal has very good learning materials and videos in place which is very user-friendly and can be learned easily.

From a Commands perspective, below are some most valuable features:

1. Metabot (User can develop the code offline just after capturing the screen, easy to drag and drop commands, reusable, and easy to use).

2. Object cloning (helpful to capture most of the controls with its Object properties)

3. Excel operations, Emails, Default Error handling features, Version control, etc...

What needs improvement?

Many clients use the Citrix environment but AA has very low functionality to automate a Citrix environment.

I would like to see improvement in advance Excel commands like lookups, Pivots, etc.

After changing the name of the ATMX file, the developer has to remap all the variables again manually at all place and it does not auto handle the renaming of ATMX or variable. In older version 10 it worked fine but from version 11 due to enhancement, this function does not work and faces issues during the development.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AA for the last three years.

How are customer service and technical support?

Automation Anywhere is the best in terms of customer service/technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used Ui Path, Python with Selenium. Automation Anywhere provides effective training videos and material which helps users to understand the tool easily and we can easily drag and drop commands to automate with a user-friendly user interface. Automation Anywhere also has better customer service support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy with the help of Automation Anywhere team support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They're very flexible around pricing and licensing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have evaluated Blue Prism, Ui Path, and Workfusion.

What other advice do I have?

Within just a few years Automation Anywhere has different versions and closing their support to the older version soon. Migration of each bot to a new one becomes a bit difficult for clients.

Automation Anywhere should have a single and stable version which can be easily accessible and easily migrate the processes.

Feasible and easy to understand, even for non developers
Pros and Cons
  • "AA provides multiple features such as Windows actions, Database actions, Conditional Actions, Files/Folder Actions, Loop actions, Internet actions, and Clipboard actions. I have used mostly all of these features."
  • "AA has many features but the issue is with the loss of overhead on computing resources. For example, if the bot is encrypted, the bot should decrypt it first then act accordingly. If there are issues with the logic in the bot, there will be a lot of computer memory overload. There should be an additional feature for cloud functionality."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for invoice processing. It's a constructive tool that eases my work in desktops as well as web automation. The basic idea is to fetch the data from an Excel and use it as input for the desktop app and then the end result will be used as output and restored back in Excel to create records. There are innumerous functions available in the tool such as creating meta bot, keystrokes, error handling, email automation and many more. The repository is very manageable. The tool is quite feasible and easy to understand even for non developers.

How has it helped my organization?

My organization has many projects that use RPA tools for their use cases such as Ui Path, Workfusion, Blue Prism and Automation Anywhere. I have been working on a project that uses Automation Anywhere. AA has been a useful tool after a lot of research among business analysts and developers. Since many of my company's employees are trained in AA it is set to be a prodigious tool. Many of our tasks are automated using AA and due to ease in handling, it becomes the first choice in terms of RPA tool.

What is most valuable?

AA provides multiple features such as Windows actions, Database actions, Conditional Actions, Files/Folder Actions, Loop actions, Internet actions, and Clipboard actions. I have used mostly all of these features. The one feature which I found interesting is Internet actions. Compared to other RPA tools available in the market, AA is highly encrypted. On the cloud and virtual machines, it is highly scalable. Unattended automation is a key feature in AA. It serves as a tool that gets easily integrated with other platforms. Quick coding is what attracts me.

What needs improvement?

AA has many features but the issue is with the loss of overhead on computing resources. For example, if the bot is encrypted, the bot should decrypt it first then act accordingly. If there are issues with the logic in the bot, there will be a lot of computer memory overload. There should be an additional feature for cloud functionality.

Also, there should be an improvement done in Citrix automation.

There should be a bit of a pricing cut down as other RPA tools charge only for bot runners. If any new features been introduced it would be a delight for many developers like me.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Automation Anywhere for almost a year.

How are customer service and technical support?

It was quite informative and helpful.

How was the initial setup?

The initials steps are quite straightforward and the support desk has been helpful.

What about the implementation team?

I have implemented through in house only. But the vendor team helped us in developing use cases.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would like to highlight that AA has a bit more pricing range compared to other RPA tools. AA charge for control room. They charge for bot runners.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Good support, user interface, and reliability in a tool that provides value for the money
Pros and Cons
  • "I love its reliability, ease of use, and the vast customer support that are always present to help us."
  • "Especially while using v11, I often experience freezes with OCR extraction from PDF files."

What is our primary use case?

I started my career in RPA and the first tool I learned was Automation Anywhere v11.3. Within a month, I learned the tool and was Master Certified in it.

I had noticed that the majority of clients for my company demand developers who know AA well. I wondered why, with so many other tools available, why clients are so interested in AA as the only RPM. This is when I realized that AA is much easier, more reliable, and has value for money also with good and vast customer support.

How has it helped my organization?

In the past two years, I have become somewhat of an expert with Automation Anywhere. As a senior RPA developer, I deal with clients alongside my project manager and I always suggest AA. It is worthwhile to know that most of our clients are already aware of this tool, its market popularity, and its capabilities. This makes it easier to solidify a business relationship with them.

Thanks to the benefits of Automation Anywhere, 90% of our clients trust and use this tool.

What is most valuable?

I love its reliability, ease of use, and the vast customer support that are always present to help us.

In the new cloud-based version, A2019, some good upgrades have been added. I feel that everything has been covered in A2019 that was missing in the older v11.3. These advancements have helped to impress our clients and create new business opportunities with them. As a cloud deployment, it saves clients problems with desktops that occurred with the previous version, v11. There are also more commands and features that have made it more awesome for me to explore and play with new commands.

I love the user interface and the automation commands they have provided in the AA 2019 version.

What needs improvement?

Especially while using v11, I often experience freezes with OCR extraction from PDF files. It just didn't work properly. I had to work around this using Python scripting. It would be a big improvement to have the inbuilt OCR capability work seamlessly. A perfect OCR would be awesome.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Automation Anywhere tool for the last two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The new version offers no compromise regarding stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I will rate this product a ten out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

I had contacted technical support two or three times and they solved my problem on the same day. I will rate them a ten out of ten on support. In my opinion, they are the best and I hope that they maintain the same.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I started working with AA and have moved to the A2019 version. I never switched to another tool, as AA is one that I have found reliable, and has everything that I need for RPA.

What was our ROI?

ROI is something my management knows, but as a developer, I cannot say for. However, I am pretty sure that AA has benefited our company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cloud-based version comes at an increased cost, although our clients are happy with the new features and have not complained about the pricing. Precious things are valuable, and they know that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I started with AA and have not evaluated other RPA products.

What other advice do I have?

It has now been two years and I have migrated to AA 2019. I now consider myself an expert in Automation Anywhere. Thanks, AA, for providing such a big and powerful platform to us.

I always recommend this product, and that clients implement AA first.

Easy workflow creation and management, continuous operation, and excellent service
Pros and Cons
  • "The marketing automation software provides easy workflow creation and management."
  • "I would like to see a technology where they can automatically update or upgrade themselves to the latest version, without having to uninstall the current bot."

What is our primary use case?

Our use cases include email filtering to get rid of spam, phishing, and many more.

Workflow automation has helped a lot with cost reduction, greater accuracy, and delivery speed. It then continues to add value as it picks up momentum and spreads across the organization.

Workers now have more time on their hands to use their intuitive minds to think about great ideas. All we do is train our digital workers, then they do the work 24/7- 365 without any errors, unlike humans who need time in the day to rest. They are the best part of the business.

How has it helped my organization?

All of the business processes we can automate, such as the digital forms you can create, have improved the way we function. The digital forms reduce a lot of paperwork, as well as the stress of losing or misplacing important data.

The sales team is also doing great because their sales operations are improving with the usage of AA.

It offers insights on how to improve with the dashboards that represent your business KPIs. You get information about the trends and know exactly where to improve, and even how you can achieve that.

The sales process is also automated in instances such as follow-ups.

What is most valuable?

The marketing automation software provides easy workflow creation and management. It increases productivity and it is easy to follow and optimize. Use workflows to set priority, status, and route incoming tickets to ensure your SLAs are met.

Trigger responses are real-time responses that are easy to send to customers. Every response needs to be prompt because even a five-minute delay can lead to a lost customer opportunity. The software has a feature that allows you to time and schedule your responses so that they can be sent in real-time.

What needs improvement?

In the control room, the manual bot update should be looked at. I would like to see a technology where they can automatically update or upgrade themselves to the latest version, without having to uninstall the current bot.

Bots should also be automatically downloaded to all computers or devices in the organization without people having to individually install them on their machines.

The device connection can also be improved, as I happen to lose connection most of the time.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company has been using Automation Anywhere for a while now, but I have only recently joined and I'm still in training.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is high because these are machines with fewer errors compared to humans, and more production time because they work 24/7- 365 without taking any breaks.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is very high and there is no need for numerous source codes. Should the size of the organization go up, there is no need to worry, as AA can handle any size.

How are customer service and technical support?

They solve tickets quickly and are always ready to attend to any queries, concerns, etc. The service is excellent.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

This is actually my first real job and I'm currently doing an internship, so I have not used other RPA products.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward and the instructions were easy to follow.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was through an in-house team.

What was our ROI?

Our ROI is an average of 6.5%.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a free trial so that they can get an overview, and there are different licenses that are very affordable and can suit every business model.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The company that I work for has evaluated other options and they were also using Zoho.

What other advice do I have?

My recommendation is that more businesses should use it. AA doesn't require any prior IT or developer experience, and it has lots of tutorial videos of how-tos.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Control Room allows admins to be able to control how the bots work, create users, and be able to give roles to a user
Pros and Cons
  • "Business analytics provides real-time data that's something other competing companies lack. It uses statistics and graphs to show the performance of the bots which processes are lagging behind and if you need to give priority to certain tasks."
  • "Automation Anywhere should add a couple of commands which will help most developers not to always use a script, a good example is in String operations."

What is our primary use case?

I am a developer and I have developed bots mainly for insurance companies. Most insurance companies in my country usually have big problems trying to transfer data from one application to another, this hence has made it very difficult for them to be up to date with their entry. Usually, they are faced with a one month lag since they employ humans to do the work for them.

In addition to this, the data transfer usually contains a series of errors, and in that area accuracy is very key. A slight mistake can end up ruining things big time .

How has it helped my organization?

Our company's reputation has made it easy to improve recently after beginning to offer RPA services to clients.

Before AA, the insurance companies used to do data manually from one app to another, but after introducing them to automation the speed and accuracy have been outstanding. They had a lot of workload hanging around.

After automating the process, my company has been able to acquire new clients who are interested in automating their processes using automation anywhere. This hence means more work for us which is always a good thing.

What is most valuable?

1. I would say business analytics, it provides real-time data that's something other competing companies lack. It uses statistics and graphs to show the performance of the bots which processes are lagging behind and if you need to give priority to certain tasks.

2. The control room and the bot creator - the control which is the brain is a powerful feature that allows administrators to be able to control how the bots work, create users, and be able to give roles to a user.

The bot creator allows developers to be able to customize bots according to the client's needs

What needs improvement?

Most clients use systems which use old Java versions, trying to automate on these systems is really difficult since most features/commands are not supported. Java earlier than 1.7 cannot work something and most firms I have interacted with their systems are old. Another thing according to Automation Anywhere, it's main aim is not to change the client's system but to be used on top of the existing one hence Automation Anywhere should consider those clients since in my country most of them use systems which date back to 2000, and they are not willing to spend another fortune to change them just so they can use Automation Anywhere.

Additional features: Automation Anywhere should add a couple of commands which will help most developers not to always use a script, a good example is in String operations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using AA for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable, as of now, I can't complain about anything but more attempts to make it more stable would be okay maybe I haven't encountered one yet but I'm sure it's flawless when it comes to stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Definitely would like it, scalability means more new features.

How are customer service and technical support?

Most customers we've interacted with at first are usually not certain about automation but immediately we do a proof of concept, they are eager to implement.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have only used Automation Anywhere and I love it.

How was the initial setup?

It was straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

It was an in-house one.

What was our ROI?

Anything above 50%. Most clients cannot go for anything less.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I usually advise them not to worry about the overall cost since the outcome will be profitable.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, I had considered UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

I like the way Automation Anywhere has migrated from v11 to a2019 my concern is about bots in a2019, once you delete them it's impossible to get them back.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
