Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Has faced challenges adapting to evolving capture methods and competitive integrations
It's difficult to say what I'd improve in Tungsten TotalAgility because we haven't been actively marketing that particular product in the last probably six to nine months. The speed of product development means that my experience with it is likely out of date in terms of the product suite capabilities. The difficulty with customers nowadays is that they are subject to the winds of change in terms of the adoption of cloud technologies and the offerings those cloud technologies bring. Microsoft, for instance, is rapidly filling in the spaces between various product areas that other vendors typically owned. That makes it difficult for customers to settle on their functional requirements because the offers are competing in the same space. I look for more integration with mainstream subscription based platforms, more security integration, and possibly some more lifecycle management features. However, the difficulty with that is the competition with existing options that people have in their subscription library.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"What really helps RPA to grow is the cognitive part of it. That's where the product is really good. Initially, it started out as RPA, but now there is a cognitive aspect to it. That's a key value to it."
"It is one of the popular RPA vendors offering powerful & user-friendly RPA capabilities to automate any complex tasks. It is one of the "Revolutionary Technology" that changes the way the enterprise operates. This tool combines conventional RPA with intellectual elements like natural language understanding and reading any unstructured data."
"Being able to implement automation is valuable. We take the business logic and provide a solution to the client. Defining the intelligence pipeline is the most interesting and challenging aspect for me."
"It is highly scalable on cloud and virtual machines."
"Using Automation Anywhere, we significantly reduced the processing time, which improved our data accuracy and freed up employees to focus on higher value tasks."
"The best feature is the drag-and-drop command. Users with less coding knowledge can also automate their end-to-end processes very easily."
"The best part about Automation Anywhere is the easy to use UI. It's very user-friendly. You have everything that you want in front of your eyes. You just have to drag and drop, then build your logic accordingly."
"The most valuable feature in this solution is the IQ Bot."
"Kofax is very easy to use, UI-friendly and allows easy data extraction."
"It's a growing tool that offers a complete package of BPM, case management, and capture capabilities."
"It's not so complex to design what you need to."
"Essentially, Kofax TotalAgility as a whole is quite nice. As of now, we've only been able to use and explore its document classification and extraction capabilities. We haven't explored and used the case management capability yet, but the scan and capture capabilities we've been using heavily and those are quite good. Our solutions are mainly around those areas of Kofax TotalAgility. We haven't explored the product a lot, but the capabilities we've explored are good."
"It is user-friendly and has good documentation. It's good for developing communication and has a lot of the APIs needed for this purpose. There aren't a lot of software options available from this time period; this is the only one from 2013 that has this concept of microservices."
"The product is really good, and it is easy to use. It comes with multiple integrations. The solution keeps up with the trend of Microsoft Copilot and AI."
"What I find most valuable in Kofax TotalAgility is its OCR feature. I also find its workflow and business process management capabilities valuable. Kofax TotalAgility also has good integration with other solutions and has an API call feature."
"Kofax TotalAgility is stable."

Cons

"For the short term, in this pandemic era, they should have a feature to write and save directly into Word documents, Office 365, or Google Docs."
"They have incorporated many latest technologies, such as AI, and there is always scope to improve the processes and have more stability."
"When it comes to Citrix automation, AA should improve or add more features in such a way that all the commands should work when automating a Citrix application."
"We have had some quirkiness happen when integrating the Automation Anywhere with other solutions, such as weird Excel issues or temperamental legacy system issues."
"More structured and unstructured data collection will be a challenge. While we have the IQ Bot tool, the success rate at the beginning will be lower. It will be around 20 to 30 percent at the start because you need to train the bot at regular intervals. Of course, this depends on the data. This area could use be improvement."
"There is an issue with the object cloning in Excel. OCR is also not that stable. Image recognition works fine, but not all the time."
"I'd love to see the ability to build web or mobile applications that are integrated with Automation Anywhere bots, so that a user can work on a web interface directly. Then, it can be linked to the Automation Anywhere bots in the background. They just hit a button, and all the data or information will be used by the bot to do some process in the back end."
"I would wish for a greater focus on citizen development, which is a priority for our company."
"Kofax needs to improve the low-code or citizen developers."
"It’s not truly low code yet, as every two or three projects, you will have a situation where you have to go behind the essential things. You will definitely still need to customize."
"Kofax TotalAgility could improve the OTR engine. The page OTR engine is not accurate in predicting the data properly. If you provide many features which are good for business process management without an accurate OTR engine people will not want it."
"The pricing for Kofax TotalAgility could be more attractive, particularly the cloud version of the solution which was offered to my company. This is its area for improvement."
"They provide sufficient but not excellent technical support. Perhaps there is a point where they could use some improvement."
"They never stressed the lifecycle document management aspects of regulated processes effectively, which I think possibly represents a weakness."
"Lacks sufficient inbuilt features."
"Room for improvement would be better OCR functionality in terms of Arabic OCR. There should be better accuracy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing cost is approximately $4,000 USD, which is a seed license."
"Whatever investment, licensing, and resource costs together are put in for development and delivery, we are still at an ROI of 250 percent."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing falls within the mid-range, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment."
"The price is a little bit high but the support is good."
"We save 34,000 hours of time per year and have recouped up to $6000 in lost revenue."
"Its price is competitive with all other products in the market."
"It depends. For example, for my group, we are centralizing the infrastructure in Paris. Our contract is signed with Automation Anywhere in France. The currency and the pricing of Automation Anywhere in France can appear beneficial and interesting for Germany and Scandinavian countries, but when we share our infra and are internally charging other countries such as Poland, Brazil, or some other country with a lower currency value as compared to Euro, it becomes less beneficial. They would prefer to sign the contract directly with Automation Anywhere because they will benefit from a price that is as per their local market."
"Because it reduced the time duration of our processes, our costs went down."
"It has a perpetual license. You pay once in a lifetime for the volume of scans you will do and the number of users you will have. You can have participants or regular users, and you can have developers and administrators. So, once you purchase it, it is for a lifetime, and then every year, you have to pay for the maintenance. There is an annual maintenance cost, which is about 18% of the licensing cost."
"It is slightly more expensive than other tools."
"The licensing cost for Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive, though I'm unable to give you the range, the sales representatives of my company say that the product is quite expensive."
"Kofax TotalAgility is very expensive."
"The price of this solution is less than some of the competition."
