My main use case for AWS Marketplace is DataDog and Lacework. We are doing billing of DataDog via AWS Marketplace, and the major use of DataDog is for the logs and alerting system for our application and downtime. AWS Marketplace is the only solution we use for these purposes.
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The best feature of AWS Marketplace is that they have nearly all services needed, and the pay-as-you-go model is the best offering. The pay-as-you-go model for DataDog and Lacework helps us as we connect with the Lacework team, finalize a contract, and then they send us an AWS Marketplace link through which we complete the payment process, helping in budget and resource planning.
The major impact of AWS Marketplace on my organization is that we get billing on a single account, meaning we do not have to manage multiple billings; just one main AWS account handles everything. Due to the single billing account, we could do reservations of servers, which saves us across all the organizations. Since we have multiple AWS accounts, it helps when we have a single billing account for everything.
What needs improvement?
I do not think anything could be improved for AWS Marketplace at this time.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working in the IT field for more than fifteen years. I have been working in AWS for more than ten years and have been using AWS Marketplace for around five to six years for different services.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not previously use a different solution before AWS Marketplace.
How was the initial setup?
The pricing and licensing is quite easy, and the setup is straightforward; you simply click and it is done.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using AWS Marketplace is to search for specific things and you will get results quickly. I use AWS, specifically all AWS private cloud and VPCs. We do purchase things from AWS Marketplace itself. I do not have much access to the billing, so I cannot reveal the metrics. I gave this review a rating of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Amazon Web Services (AWS)
