The best thing about Check Point Web Gateway is the usability and the GUI.
We are using the real-time threat intelligence feature. It helps to manage web threats effectively with qualified alarms.
We are using SSL inspection capability in the product. It has an impact on encrypted web traffic security in certain places.
The authentication features and the XSOAR, or the SOAR are examples of what is lacking.
We have not worked much with granular control over web usage policies, so I cannot provide detailed feedback.
We have not worked with the effectiveness of the multi-layered defense approach in threat prevention.
Their product coverage is not as extensive as some competitors. They have fewer products and features compared to competitors.
Support for operational technology (OT) is not as comprehensive in Check Point Web Gateway as it is in competing products.
I have been working with Check Point Web Gateway for four years.
It is quite stable. However, all firewall vendors have some instability problems. I cannot think of a single firewall vendor that does not have stability issues.
That is quite excellent.
The cloud solution can be scalable, but in most cases, it is not because it is bound to specific firewalls. If they are not fast enough, you need to purchase bigger hardware, making it not truly scalable.
Support rates seven or eight on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is the best.
Positive
You have to invest more time in setting up Check Point Web Gateway compared to other vendors. However, when you have completed the setup, you will save time because the management is much better in Check Point Web Gateway than in competing products.
I am a partner integrator.
It will be the same pricing as other solutions. Fortinet is the cheaper product, while Palo Alto and Check Point Web Gateway are similarly priced.
It can be challenging. Check Point Web Gateway is designed for larger customers. For small customers, simpler technology such as Fortinet would be more appropriate.
I work with AlgoSec and Microsoft Azure.
I primarily work with firewalls, specifically Palo Alto, Check Point Web Gateway, and FortiGate from Fortinet.
A positive aspect of Check Point Web Gateway is that you have a very good overview, and all information is collected in one place.
This review rates Check Point Web Gateway as 7 out of 10.
Aside from Sophos, I am using products from Cisco, working routing and switching and the firewall Palo Alto and Check Point.
I have been using Check Point Web Gateway for the last three years, working over the firewalls.
We are satisfied with the effectiveness of the multi-layered defense approach in Check Point Web Gateway.
We use remote access, which is a helpful feature because today, trade is ongoing with work from home, and many users access office data from home, so everyone needs the SSL remote access VPN.
What I don't appreciate about Check Point Web Gateway is that sometimes we encounter problems with them asking too many questions. With other devices, such as Palo Alto, you share the MAC ID and the serial number, and after that, they support us, registering the call and sharing the case ID. However, Check Point asks for the registered mail ID and number, which sometimes you can't quickly provide when under pressure because your client's network is down.
Once they take the details, Check Point provides good service and support. There is no issue, but sometimes their policy causes delays when clients urgently need devices turned off.
I have been in this sphere for the last three years.
Earlier, it took time, two to three hours, four hours as per the policies, netting all the things. Right now it's mostly one hour and a half for all the setup.
I am working with granular control over web usage policies, but I cannot provide detailed information about how it has helped my organization.
I do not use real-time threat intelligence with Check Point Web Gateway.
I would rate the support of Check Point Web Gateway an eight.
Positive
With Sophos and Palo Alto, they won't ask more questions when you share the MAC address and the serial number.
It was very easy to deploy Check Point Web Gateway.
I can do the implementation by myself.
I am working with Sophos Firewall and am familiar with solutions such as Check Point Web Gateway. I am satisfied with the security provided by the product. I use remote access SSL capabilities.
I would rate Check Point Web Gateway an eight out of ten.

I am primarily oriented around Check Point solutions and work with different companies that wish to provide and sell Check Point solutions, including Check Point antivirus, gateways, and other solutions.
Check Point Web Gateway offers a basic bundle that includes numerous solutions, covering about 50% of customer tasks. It is highly valued for its integration capabilities and AI development. It provides behavioral analysis and a Copilot feature implemented in the management console, allowing users to receive assistance in an automated format. When purchasing a single gateway, many solutions are included, addressing tasks effectively.
Visibility and a high-performance interface could be improved. Furthermore, deployment issues on Linux have been noted, especially with agents on endpoints.
I have been using Check Point solutions for about 20 years, with 3-4 years of intensive focus.
Our organization has private engineers who are certified by Check Point. We also have access to Check Point general support, which is good, with nothing to complain about.
Positive
We have our own support and engineers for implementation.
The pricing and discounts for Check Point Web Gateway are similar to Fortinet, making it cost-effective with fair pricing.
I am oriented towards comparisons with Fortinet, noting that Fortinet requires additional purchases to complete tasks, unlike Check Point which provides bundled solutions.
I rate the Check Point Web Gateway nine out of ten. Deployment issues arise from Linux distributives, and improvements can be made in visibility and interface performance.
The usual use case is to use it as an end-user proxy, filter websites based on their category and reputation, and prevent malware from entering the enterprise.
The most valuable features of the solution are the HTTPS inspection mechanism, application control, and URL filtering.
Authentication is only possible through Check Point Identity Awareness technology, limiting some customers' deployment options.
In terms of the challenges I faced during the initial setup of Check Point Web Gateway, I would say that the different technologies or the different security features within the product do have different configuration options, which are distributed over several places and not necessarily consolidated in one place. You have to find those options within the whole configuration, and it is not a central configuration point for the security features that you typically use in a secure web gateway.
The tool's stability needs improvement. The biggest problem is with updates. Things that used to work before do not work anymore, and it impacts the stability because it directly affects the product's availability. The quality assurance for updates and fixes could be better.
I have been using Check Point Web Gateway for seven years. I work as a partner of Check Point. I am not the end customer of the product. I use Check Point R81.20.
It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
It is difficult to speak about scalability because you can run the product on top of different hardware and software platforms. To be honest, the scalability depends on how you deploy the solution. It offers normal scalability.
There are 750 users of the tool.
My customers are mainly medium to enterprise-sized companies.
Getting the right expertise and technical knowledge from the support team is difficult. The initial problem diagnosis takes too long for all Check Point products. I rate the technical support a five out of ten.
Neutral
If one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the product's initial setup phase a five out of ten.
The solution is deployed in an on-premises model.
The solution deployment from scratch with the integrations includes project management, the requirement of designs and technical specifications, handover to operations, and troubleshooting, which depends on the size and complexity of our customer's requirements. The longest time I have spent deploying the solution was two weeks, and the small amount of time spent on it has been three days.
The deployment process consists of getting the customer's requirements and the security controls that they want to have implemented, along with the technical specification details needed to deploy the solution. There is also the initial configuration of the product, the implementation at the customer's end and integration into his environment, the detailed configuration of the security policies, the planning and the execution of the migration of the users to the new product, and then handing over the product to operations and support the customer with troubleshooting are all steps involved in the deployment.
I don't have a comparison with other products. I know that Check Point is relatively expensive compared to its competitors. If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven out of ten. The tool is a bit overpriced.
Suppose you have an existing Check Point infrastructure and utilize those security features. Then, all the information from your existing installation is available in the logs for configuring Check Point Web Gateway. You don't need to deploy a dedicated management for the proxy. The logging and reporting feature is quite good for the product. HTTPS inspection and application control enhance overall web security for our customers.
Check Point Web Gateway has been the most effective threat prevention tool since it offers features like threat emulation and threat extraction.
Integrating the product within the existing infrastructure doesn't bring any challenges.
Check Point Web Gateway supports AI-driven security initiatives, but I don't have experience with it. I just know that it supports AI-driven security, and it also includes AI security.
I would strongly recommend performing a proof of concept and testing the features in a production environment before deploying it.
Check Point Web Gateway supports our customer's web security needs in a very good manner. I am an engineer, so I always have a complaint regarding the technical implementation of the product, but in general, I don't have any complaints about the tool.
I rate the overall a seven out of ten.

We use the solution for web traffic filtering. We also create policies to block unwanted information from going out or coming into our enterprise. We also want to understand user behavior and the type of sites the users are looking at. It gives us more security because we can block the sites that try to interfere with our network.
The product is very user-friendly. The solution does not allow users to use a proxy to access websites. If they try to do it, we get an alert.
The documentation must be improved. It will help the engineers to upskill themselves.
I have been using the solution for two years.
The product is stable. I rate the stability a nine out of ten.
The product is scalable. I rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We have almost 400 to 500 users.
The support is very good. The queries are closed at the last minute.
Positive
We used an open-source solution before, but it did not filter the traffic well. So, we decided to switch the product.
The deployment is very easy. The deployment took one week. We need only one person to deploy and maintain the solution. It's easy to maintain it. The person maintaining the tool must perform data analysis of the blocked sites and the sites monitored by the management. The tool is deployed on the cloud.
We have seen a return on investment. Our bandwidth is optimized, and our internet spending has been minimized by 40%.
The price is very high. It must be reduced.
The solution can reduce operational costs and threats from internal and external users. Overall, I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Mainly, we use the solution for the banking industry. We use it for mobile banking applications, e-commerce, and payment gateways.
First, the checkpoint is the base functionality because it is a perfect fit for the perimeter because of the two internal networks, making the solution more secure.
Secondly, it can be used for IPS. It can also be used as a reverse proxy through the checkpoint. Also, since I was using it based on a VM, it helped with autoscaling.
There is room for improvement in support because the solution needs multiple regions to reach certain features and validations. Once, we had a major issue with NAT exhaustion, and we did not have the right connection because the NAT was failing. Those logs do not have direct visibility, which is needed to identify what's happening. That, again, exhausted the CPU utilization when we used debug.
I have been using it for more than 20 years.
The solution is stable.
The solution is scalable since it auto-scales. Our customers are enterprise businesses.
The technical support needs to improve.
Neutral
Comparisons between Check Point Web Gateway and Palo Alto or Azure depends on a lot. One solution is not better than the others for everything. I use Check Point, Palo Alto, and Azure Firewall on the cloud. I cannot say that only one product is better for the cloud. It depends upon the purpose.
Check Point Web Gateway was quite simple to install. We used it only for the POC and didn't use it for the complete solutions. It took a couple of days to deploy, and there were two people involved in the deployment.
The solution is deployed as a hybrid solution.
The price is on the higher side, even when compared to Azure Firewall Premium. It would be better if Check Point brings down the price.
The license is yearly, and there is a support cost because we have taken platinum support.
I recommend the solution, but people should evaluate it based on their purposes for it to fit their needs. The technical support needs to improve a lot. They should at least reach an eight or nine out of ten.
I rate Check Point Web Gateway an eight out of ten.

I use the solution in my company since we use it to manage traffic. The tool helps my company to maintain decorum and compliance policies by blocking the sites. With the tool in our company, we can keep track of the usage across the company, and it helps allow and disallow third-party migrations and connections.
The most valuable features of the solution revolve around areas like UI, feasibility, and the fact that the access is good. You don't have to wander around the tool since it is very simple. You can grab and get a hold of the tool very quickly.
I haven't come across any other tool that can compete with Check Point Web Gateway. Until now, I don't think the tool has an area where it should improve. The tool's response time can be improved since sometimes it lags, but not always, so it can be described as a rare case.
Though the tool's UI is good for me, there is little scope for improvement. The tool's UI should be made more dynamic.
I have been using Check Point Web Gateway for a year. I don't remember the version of the solution because my company's admin manages it.
The tool's stability is good. The tool really does what it commits to, and it really helps improve the SLAs and the performance. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.
Around five admins in my company use the product.
Though I haven't used the support services provided by the product, I feel that it is good.
The product's initial setup phase is straightforward since you just have to give the nodes and ranges of your network.
For the product's deployment phase, you should be aware of your networks, nodes, subnets, and IP ranges, and there should be a pilot test first so that you don't block any network or you don't block any allowed networks.
The solution is deployed on the cloud model.
The solution can be deployed in two months.
For the deployment and maintenance of the product, my company has a team of five to six system engineers.
The installation was managed by an in-house team consisting of network and security engineers.
The ROI offered by the product is good. My company has been continuing with the tool for the last two years, and it has clearly benefited us, both cost-wise and performance-wise. I rate the ROI a nine out of ten.
There is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing charges attached to the product. The product is neither too expensive nor too cheap, so it comes at a good price point for my company.
My company did not evaluate other tools against Check Point Web Gateway since it was cost-effective and user-friendly.
In terms of the effectiveness of the threat prevention technology in Check Point Web Gateway, the tool helps secure our company's environment, as threat detection and blocking work well.
Others can definitely go ahead with the tool, especially if they want to secure their networks and manage firewalls or network traffic.
In terms of the benefits offered by the product, I can say that it helps in securing network parameters, environments from network attacks, lateral movements within an environment, blocking of traffic, and managing the traffic. The tool improves our company's cybersecurity posture.
I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

I use the solution to check and control the traffic.
The product's best feature is observing how the traffic flows from one gateway to another. It's convenient for checking specific details, and you can manage everything centrally.
I would like to see improvement in the tool's availability.
I have been using the product for the last three years.
The product is stable.
I faced an issue where my Check Point Web Gateway couldn't update the firmware. I reached out to the support team through the call center, explained the problem, and they provided me with the firmware image. I installed it using a flash drive, and the issue was resolved.
Support is available 24/7. You can log in to your partner portal open a case with details of your issue and provide the serial number for the device. Communication is flexible; you can start with live chat, progress to email, and receive continuous updates. If you prefer, they even offer one-on-one calls to discuss and resolve issues.
The tool's deployment is not difficult; the difficulty arises if you're unfamiliar. Navigating can be tricky if you haven't worked with Check Point Web Gateway. Understanding where to find and review settings, especially regarding IPs, might pose some challenges initially.
The product is not cheap. It is expensive.
The tool is not easily hackable. The information is kept hidden, making it challenging for someone unfamiliar to navigate and access it. This high level of security, around 86 percent, makes it safe and reliable. With SMS, you can efficiently manage multiple gateways. Unlike individual gateways, where you must navigate policies separately, SMS allows you to push policies to other gateways. It eliminates the need to work on each gateway individually. I rate the product a ten out of ten.

Check Point is a very closed technology that filters internet traffic.
The most valuable feature is the granularity of the security policy. We can select one application, and in that application, we can control all the components of that application. It provides in-depth control of any application. For example, Facebook is one application. You can do it if you want to block the Facebook chat and use the Facebook application. Facebook will work, but you won't be able to open the Facebook chat window.
Check Point can introduce Honeypot. A honeypot is a dummy server inside the network to identify the numeric attack pattern.
I have been using Check Point Web Gateway for three years.
The solution was very much scalable.
The support is good.
We have used Forcepoint. We moved from the Forcepoint because it cannot control the traffic at the granular level we were looking for. Facebook should be on, but the chat or file uploading should be blocked. At the same time, Check Point provides in-depth control and advanced functionality compared to Forcepoint.
The initial setup is easy and takes around two months to complete.
The solution has average pricing. It's worth the money.
Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Roaming users use the secure web gateway. We also use the tool for application filtering and web filtering.
The product covers all the security needs of roaming users.
The support team’s response is not fast. The product must improve its scalability and stability.
I have been working with the solution for three years.
I rate the stability a nine out of ten.
I rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We have more than 50 customers.
Technical support is good. The support team’s response time is moderate.
The solution is cloud-based. It is very easy to deploy the tool in the customer’s environment.
The solution can be deployed within half an hour or one hour. We have an in-house team for deployment.
Our customers pay a licensing fee annually or once in three or five years, per their requirements.
I am using the latest version of the product. We sell the product. It is very easy to provide the price list and the features. I take care of the solution design and solution presentation to the customer. There are multiple OEMs for web gateways in the market. A set of customers use only Check Point. The ROI depends on the customer. Overall, I rate the tool a nine out of ten.
