Cisco Cloud Services Router Reviews

Our use case for Cisco Cloud Services Router is that we have our workload in AWS, and we have different locations, offices, and plants for which we maintain the connection from these branch offices through our cloud environment using Cisco's services. Right now, we do not have any solution from AWS. The transit gateway has challenges or issues, so we had to put our Cisco Cloud Services Router in front of the transit gateway to have that route table and other metrics under our control, so that is how the product is deployed currently.

What's best about Cisco Cloud Services Router is the support. It's excellent, and so far, no significant challenges.

Another valuable feature of the product is easy integration with other products.

Manageability-wise, Cisco Cloud Services Router is also good.

One central area for improvement in Cisco is its product line offering. Cisco has ISE and other products, such as DNS Center and other components. Instead of small to medium-sized customers purchasing devices and maintaining the devices, it would be great if customers could have subscriptions.

A CAPEX/OPEX model instead of that Cisco code, where the pricing model is subscription-based, would give much better flexibility for the customers. The pricing and model for Cisco Cloud Services Router and other Cisco products could be improved.

One good example of what I want to be added to the Cisco Cloud Services Router in its next version is for it to be more of a plug-and-play product. For example, Juniper has developed QR codes, so if you need to plug in a device, you scan from your phone and connect to the internet. That's it. You can provision the device remotely through the cloud orchestrator, so I want to see a similar function or feature in Cisco Cloud Services Router.

I've been using Cisco Cloud Services Router for the last two years, and I'm still using it.

I find Cisco Cloud Services Router very stable. Cisco Cloud Services Router remained stable compared to other products that my company tested. On a scale of one to ten, its stability is a nine.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is a scalable product.

You need to pay the licenses; the higher the license fee, the higher the computing power and the resources consumed. Cisco Cloud Services Router is pretty scalable for my company's use cases.

The Cisco Cloud Services Router technical support team has been very helpful, so I'd rate support as eight out of ten.

My company used Juniper but went with Cisco Cloud Services Router primarily because Juniper is lacking, support-wise. The support provided by Juniper isn't really good, so my company didn't want to rely on Juniper.

Juniper is very competitive price-wise and beats any other vendor, but has extremely weak protocol engineers who say, "Okay, this product is RFC-compliant with a certain RFC number." Still, you'll discover many bugs when you go for real-time deployment. The bugs caused a significant outage for my company, so Juniper engineering is one of the reasons my company chose the Cisco Cloud Services Router over Juniper.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is easy to set up because I'm a technical person, so it's straightforward for me to set it up and use the product on the network.

How long the deployment takes depends on the case and how you'll be implementing Cisco Cloud Services Router. The use cases of my company have been very limited in nature, so deploying the product has been very straightforward and takes up less time, in particular just a few hours.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is an expensive product. My company pays for the product yearly, and the price reaches roughly $800,000.

Though Cisco Cloud Services Router is expensive and its competitors offer better pricing, when it comes to support, no other competitor beats Cisco Cloud Services Router.

We evaluated Juniper.

Twenty-five network engineers use Cisco Cloud Services Router within my company.

My advice to anyone planning to use Cisco Cloud Services Router for the first time is to sign up for the Cisco dCloud, where there's a Ready Labs type of trial that gives you a better look and feel of the Cisco Cloud Services Router. Please take advantage of the thirty or sixty-day trial to get a complete insight into the product, but before the trial, it's best to have a plan in place to measure your outcomes, so your decision-making becomes more effortless.

I'd rate Cisco Cloud Services Router as eight out of ten because it has an excellent portal and has remained stable with fewer deviations from the published RFCs. Cisco Cloud Services Router also supports even legacy protocols, apart from the latest ones, so I'm pretty happy with the product.

My company is a customer of Cisco but would like to become a partner.

We use the solution internally in our company. We have multiple sites in the UK, Middle East, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, and Egypt. 

We had been using on-premises routers and switches, but faced connection problems. We also needed to take care of the on-premises environments. 

With a cloud-based environment, we can rely on higher resilience solutions from Cisco. They are good at creating cloud-operated infrastructure. If we have issues, we can troubleshoot them centrally and it's really easy for us to manage services on the infrastructure side. 

The routing service for NPLS called Layer 3-IP is fantastic. 

If you lose connectivity to the cloud, it is difficult to establish connectivity between the hub and spoke. 

We tried to implement VPN services but it is missing. ISR or ESR router services are also missing.

I'd like additional features connected to my network for video design, topology design, and graphing. For example, the topology provided is not enough and should include where traffic is coming and going. Normally this feature comes with firewall services, but it would be great to have it included and managed with cloud services. 

I have been using the solution for three and a half years. 

The solution is very stable. 

Some improvements are needed in scalability. When user traffic is high, there are performance issues depending on the user and the link used to connect. Cisco is providing enough bandwidth to manage the routing, so there's room available and there shouldn't be lags in performance. 

We have a mix of 500 users including our programming team that does in-house development and our administrative team. 

We have not needed technical support. I'm the infrastructure engineer who opens support tickets and resolves issues with the administrative team. 

We tried to use another solution but reverted back to Cisco because we have great experience working with Cisco Cloud Routers, especially on Meraki. 

The initial setup is straightforward and very good. It is easy to configure the routers and get them online within a few minutes. 

Deployment takes some time because you have to plan in advance for IPS, hosting, site readiness, and other details. 

We implemented the solution ourselves and manage it in-house. 

The yearly subscription is causing some issues with our budget. They should reduce costs for some customers. When we review budgets, management asks if there are subscription discounts because we want to reduce pricing on the IT side. Management indicates that pricing is a bit high but we haven't done comparison pricing at this point. 

We conducted a proof of concept study that compared other solutions to Cisco. Apples to apples, we determined that Cisco was a great solution for our requirements. 

We mainly work with Cisco, HP, and 4Gnet. 

As an end user, I would recommend Cisco because it is stable, has good performance, resiliency, high availability, quick setup, a friendly environment, and friendly interfaces that are easy to deploy and manage. You will not have the hassle of on-premises solutions such as configuration and connectivity.

You receive one product and then think of how to deploy it. You should be a highly technical person, but it's easy to use. You don't need to be a CCI to handle setup. It's a very easy deployment that will make your life easy. 

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. 

Cisco Cloud Services Router is used to extend the layer from the head office to the cloud.

The most valuable feature of the Cisco Cloud Services Router is it can make your migrations smooth. For example, if you want to migrate to the cloud, but you don't want to change the IP. You can extend your VLAN from on-premise to the cloud without having to change the IP.

Cisco Cloud Services Router could improve the GUI.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is a stable solution. Cisco is always a stable solution.

The technical from Cisco Cloud Services Router is very good. Cisco support has been always good in my experience.

The initial setup of the Cisco Cloud Services Router is straightforward.

My advice to others is this solution is very good to extend your layer to the cloud. There are other solutions on the market from other vendors, such as Microsoft. It is up to the user what solution best fits their needs.

When I use the solution I only use the command prompt, other users might use the GUI. When I use other solutions such as Fortigate, Palo Alto, or Juniper, I do not use the GUI either. The languages used in the command lines are very similar from solution to solution.

I rate Cisco Cloud Services Router a ten out of ten.

The technology that Cisco Cloud Services Router provides is why I rated it very high.

The most valuable features of the Cisco Cloud Services Router are the integration with Amazon and Oracle cloud.

Cisco Cloud Services Router could improve by having more features. It is lacking features, such as virtualization and containerization. Additionally, there should be increased security and connectivity between routers.

I have been using Cisco Cloud Services Router for approximately four years.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is a stable solution and we have not had any issues.

Cisco Cloud Services Router is difficult to implement. 

When we move to the cloud, it's very easy to move. I use the same dashboard and the CLI. In the cloud, I have the same features I had in the data center.

I had a professional team do the implementation.

My advice to others would be to do the project phase without problems first and then move on from there.

I rate Cisco Cloud Services Router a nine out of ten.

I primarily use this solution in the data center.

In the next release, I'd like Cisco to add automation functions and the ability to monitor the environment and network status.

I've been working with this solution for more than ten years.

This solution is scalable.

Cisco's technical support is pretty good - they have a professional support center to handle any problems and will send out an expert to help you resolve any issues.

The initial setup is easy for one device but is more complex when numerous devices need to be configured.

This solution is kind of expensive.

I would give this solution a rating of nine out of ten.

Overall, it is a solid product and a good router.

The stability has been very good over the years.

The product does scale quite well. There's no question about that.

Technical support is helpful.

We need to use older versions as the newest options are very costly.

The configuration is difficult.

We find the installation process to be hard.

We have been using the solution for at least 20 years. It's been two decades at this point. We've used the solution for quite a while now.

The stability is very good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

The scalability is there. If a company needs to scale this solution, it can do so.

Technical support from Cisco is quite good in India. They are helpful and responsive. We are satisfied with the level of service we receive.

The initial setup is not easy. It's a difficult process.

The deployment itself took about four to five hours or so.

You do need to pay a licensing fee to use the solution. You can do a yearly or three-year subscription. The product itself is quite expensive. It would be ideal if they offered the product at a cheaper price.

We are resellers.

We are not using the latest version right now due to the fact that it is quite expensive. We are using versions that are two to three years old.

We have been very happy with its capabilities over the many years we have used the product.

I'd recommend the solution to other organizations and companies.

I rate Cisco Cloud Services Router a nine out of ten.

My team is in charge of auditing the security infrastructure of these routers. I perform penetration testing and blue teaming in pursuit of this effort.

Our customers for this product are typically government departments.

In the current project, we are designing smart cities, in which these routers are part of the infrastructure.

The most valuable feature is the artificial intelligence assessment models. This is something that this product has over MikroTik.

Over the past couple of years, I've noticed that the Cisco CLIs and web-based interfaces have changed. As such, there is a bit of a learning curve for people. It is understandable that newer technology is different, but it would be helpful if the interface had more in common with the older, legacy systems. There should be a system in place to help existing users make an easier transition to the newer interfaces.

I have been working with Cisco routers for at least four or five years.

Cisco is a market leader in its field and this is a very stable product.

There is no doubt that this Cisco solution is scalable. I do expect to scale more in the future.

I do not set up or administer the networks, so I do not need to speak with technical support.

In addition to Cisco, I have experience with routers from MikroTik and Juniper. These are all very good routers, switches, and infrastructure in general.

I prefer Cisco because I have more people in my team who are Cisco Certified Network Associates (CCNAs), Cisco Certified Security Professions(CCSPs), and Cisco Security Officers (CSOs). 

We work with large distributed systems and the routing systems are quite complicated. We also have multiple vendors that make up our infrastructure, so the setup for us is complex because of our architecture.

In summary, this is a good product and I recommend it.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

We have a public and a private network, and we use the Cisco CSR to route traffic between them. In our private network, we have a Cisco Nexus 1000V virtualization switch that works with VMware. Our goal was to have our two LANs work together as a layer two network, and this solution forms the gateway between them.

Our CSR is set up such that one end is connected to the internet, whereas the other end connects to our public network. We have a route between the CSR and our Nexus 1000V, which is directly connected to the other switch that is included with VMware.

The most valuable feature is the SNMP traps that I use to monitor the router and the availability of the network.

The version of this solution that we are using does not support the LISP protocol. The new versions support LISP, which helps with the aggregation of routing across the landings.

I have been working with this solution for almost four years and I have about fifteen years of experience in total with Cisco products.

Bugs are common in this solution and we run into various routing issues when it comes to learning routes or using the static cloud. However, most of these issues are easily solvable.

This solution is more on the virtual side and you can handle a lot of virtual networks. At the same time, it does have some limitations on how much you can scale.

We have approximately 200 people who use this solution in our company.

I have been in contact with technical support on many occasions and they are always good. The response time depends on how the issue is rated in terms of priority, and how critical your network is.

I have not used a similar solution from another vendor.

Most of our data centers use Cisco solutions, although some of the partner sites use other products.

The initial setup was more straightforward than complex.

It took about a day to deploy. After bringing up the topology, we had to coordinate with the other teams in terms of bringing up the LAN link. We had to bring everything up to date.

I did most of the CSR deployment by myself, although when it comes to the LAN-related work, I had assistance from the LAN team.

One to two people are suitable for handling the maintenance.

This is a solution that I surely recommend.

My advice to anybody who is researching this solution is to consider scale. You can use this router in a scalable solution but it has its limitations. Overall, it works really well and does not have any large bugs or issues with it.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Gateway communication for IoT activities is our primary use case. We were looking for a stable mobility solution.

It provides us with highly secure, reliable, and easy-to-manage 3G/4G LTE WAN cellular and wireless LAN connectivity for mobile environments.

It has delivered high-speed secure VPN services with High Availability, strong firewall protection, Application Visibility and Control, and more. This AMI runs Cisco IOS XE technology features (ASR 1000 and ISR 4000 series) and uses AWS instances with a direct I/O path for higher and consistent performance, as well as 2x performance with IMIX packets.

The most important feature is that it is designed for mobile vehicle communication in harsh conditions. It is also:

• easily and rapidly deployed
• highly available
• highly secure
• reliable.

Also, in terms of integration and configuration of the product in our AWS environment, it has 1700/2100 MHz (Band 4 AWS) frequencies.

Cisco should improve on the operation due to a clock signal component failure. I would also like to see better security, where there are more access controls and data confidentiality.

It is a stable solution. I have put high workloads on it and it has been very stable.

For my environment it is a good solution.

The pricing is good for what it offers.

It integrates with multiple solutions but I have only tried it with AWS solutions.

I would rate it at eight out of ten. It is a good solution but they have to improve on the security.

It provides peace of mind because it is a stable product that you aren't going to lose sleep over at night wondering if it will be running or not.

It is an all-inclusive solution.

I would like the ability to moderate between devices on-premise to off-premise. This would be a vast improvement.

In the next release, I would like them to add the ability to track a security feature to track the various IPs that come in.

In AWS, the size of my environment is relatively small at the moment. I only have 45 VMs.

Our experiences with their technical support have been positive.

The integration and configuration of the product in our AWS environment was mostly straightforward.

It is sort of like insurance. You hope you never have to use it. We pay a premium, hoping that the service never goes bad on us.

Purchasing the product on the AWS Marketplace was very simplistic. Our organization was trying to centralize our billing costs, and simplicity was best.

The pricing is fine, though it might have been cheaper going through a partner or doing a direct buy.

Cisco has been around for years. It is solid and has one of the most recognized brand names in the world.

It does integrate with another product that we run for our firewalls.
