Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Very cost-effective and well organized with good compression
It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company. A managerial user who wants more information beyond the operational technician should be able to access it. It could include greater transparency regarding the volume of data trafficked on the network, as well as the expectation of deduplication. A more practical strategy could come with a backup policy model as a suggestion for both large and small companies. A simple suggestion is to visually implement the backup time as far as your physical media.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately."
"The ability to clone backups."
"For me, it's been very successful and very effective."
"The solution suits my business needs; it works perfectly for me."
"For my first experience, it is the best software for backups, especially for a five-system backup."
"Acronis Backup is the kind of product that is quite easy to get started with, as it is pretty straightforward."
"Customer service is fast, responsive, and overall good."
"It's a good solution for backing up items."
"It brought many advantages - such as the learning curve being very light."
"Bacula Enterprise, so far, has never let us down with their service and support."
"Technical support is excellent in my opinion."
"Bacula is very solid, very stable, and very scalable."
"It is easy to scale Bacula Enterprise even if your system is growing tremendously in data and servers."
"The most valuable features are the special plugins such as SAP HANA databases, Microsoft SQL, and various types of virtualization."
"The solution has had a tremendous impact on our public company, as we are now cost-effective and even better on performance with our restorations."
"The support is outstanding and world-class."

Cons

"We are trying to restore from the backups that the supplier help us to create, but we are having problems restoring."
"I have had an issue at times with support, because they weren't able to get to me and I've had to call back after an hour or so, but other than that, I can't be more pleased with the product."
"It takes a long to backup data using Acronis backup and recovery v11 and I found Acronis support not really helpful as they always suggest to update the software instead of solving the issue with the current version."
"This solution would not scale well in a large environment."
"The software requires a number of network ports to be open between the management machine and the clients and backup devices."
"Error log interpretation will come back with some great big number, then it will want to go to the internet, but it is a silent site. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to really tell what is going on."
"Acronis Backup can improve on the virtualization backups because they are not as good as Veeam Backup."
"Some of the default settings out-of-the-box should already be set up for the novice user. For instance, the warnings that say a hard drive has bad sectors and stops the backup from performing."
"It could improve its interface or offer a specific screen for the manager of the company."
"The initial setup could be a bit easier."
"We are looking for a unique interface that can rule both enterprise and open source editions. Such a thing does not yet exist."
"Relying solely on a desktop is a bit frustrating as its GUI isn't exactly responsive."
"We would like to see an improvement in the functionality of the GUI."
"A more user-friendly interface (GUI) can be developed."
"Easier setup and configuration, perhaps including a GUI, would be an improvement."
"Bacula needs a graphical user interface because, for administrators, the command-line interface is okay, but for the average user it is not very easy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a license required for this solution and it can be on a monthly basis."
"Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
"Licensing fees are billed annually and there are no extra charges."
"I would describe the product as a mid-priced tool for small and medium businesses."
"When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
"I like the pricing, and that it is easy to use and has performed well. "
"The cost of updates is less than $100 USD yearly."
"We have a perpetual license."
"This is an open-source solution."
