Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"While using this solution for my customers over the past seven years, data loss and other disasters have been prevented and where ransom attacks have occurred, we were able to restore the data where Acronis was used to back up information."
"I would definitely say the backup and recovery. It used to be a separate module. It was a recovery part and it would literally duplicate the machine to bare bones."
"The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are instant restore, antivirus, and ransomware protection, and additionally, the documentation is good."
"The most valuable feature is its consistency."
"One of the features I have found most valuable is the restore point - it gives us what we need at the time we need it. The important thing is that the backup for Acronis doesn't depend as much on the device."
"Some of the most valuable features are recovery, protection against malware, and software management, and I am happy with the dashboards and user interface."
"This product gave us two major features: Imaging allowed us to create clones from the production server with ultimate speed, and protection against server failures with the ability to restore on different hardware."
"The web-based interface makes it easy to use."
"My customer has Dell EMC CloudBoost integrated with all of their other Dell products; it integrates well and is very simple to use, making it easy for him to make copies of very important files to the public cloud because it is fully integrated with his Networker and Avamar's tools."
"My customer has Dell EMC CloudBoost integrated with all of their other Dell products. It integrates well."
"The solution's support team is excellent."

Cons

"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage: EMC, HPE, Veeam, etc."
"The newer version 12 was a little bit hard to set up and get licensed."
"I had to call one of the technicians to help set it up. It was so complicated. And I still don't know how to use it."
"I would like to have more cybersecurity integration to properly round up the product and its offering."
"Requires a committed effort to learn this comprehensive software"
"One of my clients is using version 11.7, which I feel has quite a few bugs and is not easy to work with."
"There are some frustrating things. One in particular is when you're looking through your logs from the previous night's jobs and you see a warning, and you go in, and you try to dig through to find what exactly the warning meant, and you can't find anything."
"It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops."
"They should eliminate the tape-out function from the solution."
"The price of Dell EMC CloudBoost could be reduced, it is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Acronis Backup could be reduced, it is expensive."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
"We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers."
"We use the free version that provides very basic functionalities."
"The license is a perpetual license. The cost is an area for improvement."
"Our licenses come with a one-time yearly subscription fee."
"The price of the solution is expensive and could be reduced a little."
