Stable solution with a wider boost functionality, helping us eliminate the tape backup requirements
We use the solution to protect the applications running in the cloud or on-premises. Its wider boost functionality helps us eliminate the tape backup requirements The solution's most valuable feature is throttling the applications as per the bandwidth. Using it, we can adapt a method to work on…

Near-zero downtime has protected critical workloads and now simplifies hybrid cloud recovery
The best features of HPE Zerto Software are mainly very sophisticated and relevant to the current market. The data protection CDP part has real-time replication, unlike other solutions that have snapshot backups. We can set it up hourly, making it ideal for use with workloads. Another attraction is the near-zero RTO, with automated failover within minutes and one-click failover and failback. Currently, we are using a hybrid cloud solution, and HPE Zerto Software supports multi-cloud environments, making it easy to migrate between on-premises and cloud. Regarding the impact of HPE Zerto Software on our RTOs, we have near-zero RTO, meaning the system must be back online within thirty minutes if we measure the time. It is very quick to recover services. With HPE Zerto Software's near-synchronous replication, we have some CDP protection, so we typically write interceptions along with some asynchronous replication. There is almost real-time replication available.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"My customer has Dell EMC CloudBoost integrated with all of their other Dell products. It integrates well."
"My customer has Dell EMC CloudBoost integrated with all of their other Dell products; it integrates well and is very simple to use, making it easy for him to make copies of very important files to the public cloud because it is fully integrated with his Networker and Avamar's tools."
"The solution's support team is excellent."
"The ease of setting up replication, the speed, and the ease with which I can fail over and fail back are all excellent aspects of the solution."
"The ease of failover and test environments has proven invaluable."
"The features of HPE Zerto Software that I appreciate the most are the continuous data protection and the ability to test."
"My advice about Zerto would be "do it." The product is just that good."
"HPE Zerto Software offers the best features in that it works reliably, has set and forget functionality, and does exactly what it is said to do."
"Zerto proved to have better replication efficiency over WAN bandwidth."
"Having Zerto in place takes a headache off my plate."
"Zerto provides disaster recovery solutions, data protection, and ensures minimal disruption during migration."

Cons

"The price of Dell EMC CloudBoost could be reduced, it is expensive."
"They should eliminate the tape-out function from the solution."
"Maybe the reporting for the failover test could be a little better."
"We had some issues with replication, especially on Linux, but we have already resolved them."
"Zerto should continue adding new features. When I used it at the other bank, it wasn't good with replicating VDIs and automation."
"Sometimes, Zerto almost holds the vSphere environment hostage when it comes to taking certain actions."
"If I had to pick anything, it would be the documentation for upgrades. They need to make it easier for users to do upgrades without having to contact support, by providing better documentation for that."
"Mobile features are there only for visibility and not to take action."
"The solution hasn't decreased our organization's DR testing time; in fact, it has increased it because we use it as a tool in our healthcare business, doing it every month to verify that everything is working correctly."
"Some of the cloud instructions around VNets and peering of networks could be clearer with some best-case examples."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Dell EMC CloudBoost could be reduced, it is expensive."
"Its cost depends upon the amount of data that needs to be protected."
"Zerto is a little bit on the higher side in terms of pricing. It would be better if they had a pay-as-you-go package."
"When they changed their licensing model, pricing might have gotten a little more expensive for some use cases, but it has been pretty straightforward."
"It is economical as compared to other brands."
"In general, it's pretty fair because it is software. In our case, we built our own colo. So, the cost of the colo was very expensive, and that's where a lot of the equipment is. The same thing is there if we were going to spin up in the cloud, but as a solution, in general, it's pretty fair for what you get out of it and how it works. It's not cheap, but at the same time, you get what you pay for, and it's definitely worth the cost. You just have to understand that the cost of the software alone is not the total cost of the project of doing ransomware protection or disaster recovery. It's a piece of the pie, not the entire pie."
"The licensing model is good. The price is a little bit expensive, but for what customers get on it, it tends to pay for itself. However, if more and more companies start to improve, then Zerto may need to look at their pricing and make it a little better."
"While we find the twenty-five VM license somewhat inflexible, the actual setup costs are minimal as the product is so easy to install."
"Obviously, it would be nice to have it for free. Nevertheless, a lot of effort has gone into making it a top-notch product. An excellent product with expert support is never going to be cheap. I think it's fairly priced for what it does and the benefit it brings to our business."
"I would suggest getting a dedicated, well-informed rep."
