Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Granular recovery, replication is good and offers good speed
It is for any kind of company that uses their own servers. From a global perspective, our clients are small-sized companies. All the SMEs, compared to the Slovakian market, are quite small. It's a small market with small companies. They just want to enhance security and follow regulations It's…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provided us with a fast and reliable way to recover a complex operating system, from one server to another so as to increase the business continuity."
"The backup timing and restoring process is great compared to other options."
"We are able to remotely backup machines from locations across the United States from one centralized point."
"Stability is always good. I have used Acronis for 10 years now, if not more. I have never had a problem with availability, etc."
"The performance has been fine so far."
"Any customer who uses Acronis that has needed to restore anything from their backup has had a 99% success rate, where they have been able to restore data without any problems."
"I can encrypt the data, I can make it send me an email if it fails. It lets me choose which files I want to ignore during backup."
"The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware."
"The general backup for replication and virtual standby are the most valuable aspects; it does what it says it does and is a decent tool for not a big budget."
"Built-in encryption helps to secure our data as it travels from our on-site server to our off-site backup server."
"Basically, half of my day is saved because of the email notification and alerts."
"The most valuable feature of Quest Rapid Recovery for our organization is the VM recovery functionality."
"The fact that it can take a snapshot of everything on a server and replicate it on another server in real-time is the most valuable feature."
"It is pretty simple to set up and use, the ease of use has reduced the administration time involved in our backup and recovery operations, and I can sleep easily at night knowing that I've got one of the best solutions in place for the school."
"The solution is a great backup for the retail environment."
"Our company survived a ransomware attack and the repository was not encrypted by the Conti ransomware strain, and it enables us to recover complete systems, applications, and data with little or no disruption to the work environment."

Cons

"For smaller companies, it's a little more challenging to maintain."
"It would be nice to have it on the cloud platform without using third-party equipment."
"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage."
"We are trying to restore from the backups that the supplier help us to create, but we are having problems restoring."
"There can be inconsistencies between builds in terms of the product working with one NIC or another, especially on newer generation servers."
"I would like to have more cybersecurity integration to properly round up the product and its offering. In terms of cybersecurity, if the offerings can be more versatile so that it is not just a backup solution, it would be great. Some addition to cybersecurity would really be helpful so that it becomes a kind of a suite of products. Backup and recovery form a part of the broader security strategy. Its integration with other cybersecurity solutions would provide proper visibility to not just your cybersecurity dashboard but also to all of your backups. You would have a pretty good view of the entire security landscape that you are managing."
"There are a lot of products out there that are a little bit stronger than Acronis where AV is concerned."
"There are some frustrating things. One in particular is when you're looking through your logs from the previous night's jobs and you see a warning, and you go in, and you try to dig through to find what exactly the warning meant, and you can't find anything."
"You can only take a snapshot from a virtual environment. It should have the ability to take snapshots from both a virtual and physical environment."
"It is quite surprising to me that the configuration cannot be backed up automatically, and I think that Rapid Recovery should have an option for scheduled configuration backup."
"Most people may just find that it is undesirable to pay per call."
"Rapid Recovery can only backup the machine or disc, but it can't back up from folders, and files, and things like that."
"One area where Quest Rapid Recovery has room for improvement is in the handling of snapshots on Hyper-V."
"It is expensive. If you do not need physical backups, it is expensive for basic virtual backups."
"There could be better space management for incremental data. When you use incremental data, the space in the appliance keeps on going up. There should be a better way to manage the space. You have to manage the incremental data to reduce the time."
"The initial setup can be tricky, and if not done right, the whole solution needs to be reinstalled."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is cheap compared to other products."
"We have a Cyber Cloud backup license and we have on-premises storage. Both can be useful for our customers."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
"The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly."
"We use the free version that provides very basic functionalities."
"Our licenses come with a one-time yearly subscription fee."
"We were on a perpetual license for Acronis Backup."
"Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
"It's very expensive which is why I want to drop it. They charge us per core and we have a six-core server. It's expensive to pay for maintenance charges. I want to switch to something cheaper."
"I'm not aware of the exact cost of Quest Rapid Recovery because I'm from the technical team, but in general, the solution is quite competitive cost-wise."
"Licensing fees are based on the amount of data that you want to store, which is related to how many customers you want to cover."
"It is a little expensive. However, I haven't compared it to other solutions. Being a nonprofit, it is always good to have nonprofit discounts on products."
"The pricing is on the higher end."
"I don't think the licensing for the product is very expensive."
"I believe the basic license comes with six terabytes, whereas a lot of the other ones are four terabytes. From the price point, it seemed a lot better than the comparative models, such as Datto, Barracuda, and some of the others. I believe Barracuda was about $15,000 for four terabytes, and Quest was around $12,000 for six terabytes. Pricing is based on the period. There is just the maintenance fee that you have to pay annually, or you can pay for a three-year or four-year contract. This includes Premier Support."
"Its price is okay. It is reasonable in terms of the way it works."
