Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Granular recovery, replication is good and offers good speed
It is for any kind of company that uses their own servers. From a global perspective, our clients are small-sized companies. All the SMEs, compared to the Slovakian market, are quite small. It's a small market with small companies. They just want to enhance security and follow regulations It's…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main reason we went with Acronis Cyber Protect is because it provides a virtual machine backup feature."
"For me, the tool proved most valuable in scenarios where it offered easy setup, fast backups, and recognition of SQL logs on virtual machines."
"The deployment of operating systems to new or repaired systems is much faster than before."
"The tool’s licensing and pricing are economical for SMB customers."
"What Acronis provides is much more than that; it provides backup, management, and security, as well as vulnerability management and patch management, and a little bit of DLP."
"Post-implementation, this fell to zero and boosted morale by allowing the engineers to enjoy their weekends with their families."
"The setup was straightforward as was restoring the files, and I have been able to just go right on and restore the files that I need."
"Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution."
"The data protection strategy varies on a case-by-case basis, but overall, it's doing well."
"Customer Service: So far, I've found both the online forums and Dell Community pages and the Dell knowledge base pretty extensive, and all our direct support with Dell techs has been quick and so far very helpful."
"Not having to switch tapes is wonderful. It makes it so easy. We have an on-prem deployment that we also replicate to an offsite replication host. So by not having to deal with tapes and moving them off-site every day and every week, that's amazing ease of use for us."
"It is pretty simple to set up and use, the ease of use has reduced the administration time involved in our backup and recovery operations, and I can sleep easily at night knowing that I've got one of the best solutions in place for the school."
"Built-in encryption helps to secure our data as it travels from our on-site server to our off-site backup server."
"One feature I found that's the most valuable in Quest Rapid Recovery is the VM standby feature which is very useful for my current customer. The solution also has a great replication feature. The third most valuable feature in Quest Rapid Recovery is the five-minute RPO and the fifteen-minute RTO. The solution is also very user-friendly."
"The best feature of the solution is the user interface."
"Disk backup (archiving to the cloud) is its most valuable feature because it provides for our disaster recovery plan."

Cons

"The backing up of virtual machines in VMware and Nutanix needs better integration and the performance of the solution needs improvement."
"On the cloud side, security could always be better."
"We are trying to restore from the backups that the supplier help us to create, but we are having problems restoring."
"I would change the GUI a little to make it a bit more interactive. It should have a slightly more updated look, not something which looks like it was designed five years ago despite the fact it is easy to follow and very appealing."
"The solution's reporting feature could be better."
"Version 12.5 only has a web interface which is absolutely unacceptable for this type of product."
"The solution could improve by providing more database backup features and have better integration with many different types of databases. We cannot implement it in all of our infrastructures."
"The software requires a number of network ports to be open between the management machine and the clients and backup devices."
"When you do a full backup, all of the memory resources on the server are used, which is something that should be improved."
"The terminology didn't seem easily available. When I go to the website, it is hard to search for things. You get all the articles, then you finally get the search button. They need the search at the top of the knowledge base. Then, on occasion, if you get an error message in the system, which is very important, it says, "Click here for more information," but I never get more information. The search engine doesn't find it or it is some weird error. It has never worked for me."
"One area where Quest Rapid Recovery has room for improvement is in the handling of snapshots on Hyper-V."
"It's very expensive which is why I want to drop it."
"It is expensive. If you do not need physical backups, it is expensive for basic virtual backups."
"You can only take a snapshot from a virtual environment. It should have the ability to take snapshots from both a virtual and physical environment."
"Most people may just find that it is undesirable to pay per call."
"In case, if there is anything, it would be the speed of the operation to be finished. Even then, I can easily work on the storing function before the operation is finished."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Acronis Backup could be reduced, it is expensive."
"Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
"The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity."
"Our licenses come with a one-time yearly subscription fee."
"The pricing model is a little complex to find the right size for what you need. It takes a lot of hours to figure it out."
"You don't have to pay for licenses. You can pay per gig per month. It is pretty reasonable, especially when you do it per gig."
"The license is a perpetual license. The cost is an area for improvement."
"There is a license required to use this solution and it is inexpensive. However, it is an old license."
"It is a little expensive. However, I haven't compared it to other solutions. Being a nonprofit, it is always good to have nonprofit discounts on products."
"It's very expensive which is why I want to drop it. They charge us per core and we have a six-core server. It's expensive to pay for maintenance charges. I want to switch to something cheaper."
"Its price is okay. It is reasonable in terms of the way it works."
"When I purchased the change to the license, it was $1,600. I think that was for changing the license. I don't believe that I had to purchase technical support in a while, so I must've bought maybe for five years, but I don't feel there was a huge cost involved in technical support. Its cost was definitely worth it because we've had a fantastic experience with them."
"I'm not aware of the exact cost of Quest Rapid Recovery because I'm from the technical team, but in general, the solution is quite competitive cost-wise."
"Licensing fees are based on the amount of data that you want to store, which is related to how many customers you want to cover."
"I believe the basic license comes with six terabytes, whereas a lot of the other ones are four terabytes. From the price point, it seemed a lot better than the comparative models, such as Datto, Barracuda, and some of the others. I believe Barracuda was about $15,000 for four terabytes, and Quest was around $12,000 for six terabytes. Pricing is based on the period. There is just the maintenance fee that you have to pay annually, or you can pay for a three-year or four-year contract. This includes Premier Support."
"The pricing is on the higher end."
