Sentiment score
1.0
Veritas NetBackup provides value by ensuring rapid recovery, reducing costs, and effectively protecting data despite some cost concerns.
It is suitable for our nature of business because data is very critical, and we cannot compromise on backup.

Customer Service

Sentiment score
6.4
Customer service and technical support vary, with unreliable response times despite valued 24/7 availability and remote access.
Sentiment score
6.6
Veritas NetBackup's support is effective but inconsistent, with responsiveness issues and escalation needed; documentation is well-regarded.
I'll give them a nine for how responsive they are in technical support.
Whenever I have a question, they respond very quickly each time.
The support takes too much time to respond to callbacks.
The support from Veritas NetBackup is very good.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
7.0
Acronis Cyber Protect is scalable, flexible, and performant, with minor issues affecting on-premise users more than cloud users.
Sentiment score
5.1
Veritas NetBackup is scalable but can be costly, with mixed reviews on handling large datasets and complex migrations.
Acronis Cyber Protect is a scalable product.
I would rate it eight on a scale from 1 to 10 for scalability, considering it will be multiple assets.
The size of the catalog was an issue, but it was more about outgrowing our own architecture than a problem with Veritas NetBackup itself.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.3
Acronis Cyber Protect is dependable, stable, with efficient backups, though updates and UI delays pose occasional challenges.
Sentiment score
8.4
Veritas NetBackup is highly stable and reliable on Linux, with minor issues, consistently rated between eight to ten.
It ended up being at a point where we actually had to disable some features in order for the client to work through that specific purpose.
The stability of Acronis Cyber Protect is very high.
In the last 10 years, I have never faced a single incident regarding stability with Veritas NetBackup.
Veritas NetBackup performs well in terms of stability.

Room For Improvement

Acronis Cyber Protect could improve user interface, installation, compatibility, performance, support, pricing, and integration for enhanced functionality.
Veritas NetBackup needs UI improvements, better support, competitive pricing, enhanced cloud integration, scalability, and AI features.
It's only after we discovered there was a compatibility issue with the application that the client was running that we actually had to do a lot of log file shipping to Acronis themselves and getting solutions because of other problems.
Acronis Cyber Protect could be more affordable, especially for us in South America.
The Protect environment should automatically secure the last backup screens to prevent any changes, even by an admin.
We would really appreciate if Veritas offers products by which we can secure our backups against these ransomware attacks.
Veritas NetBackup needs improvement in terms of integration with the cloud.

Setup Cost

Acronis Cyber Protect offers affordable licensing options, though some find it expensive in large environments, yet valued for capabilities.
Veritas NetBackup is seen as costly, especially for SMEs, with complex licensing, though discounts may ease concerns.
I would rate the price as nine out of ten.

Valuable Features

Acronis Cyber Protect combines easy interface, backup, and cybersecurity for versatile OS support with centralized management and cloud storage.
Veritas NetBackup provides reliable cloud integration, flexibility, scalability, and enhanced protection, making it ideal for efficient data management.
The NASDAQ level CFS level backup is the feature I find most beneficial for our data protection strategy.
This is beneficial because any backup package stored in the cloud is not free, and if it shrinks well, it allows users to pay less for cloud storage.
It also encrypts your backups and makes it safe, so it doesn't get affected with viruses.
Although we do not utilize its deduplication technology or cloud integration, we can trigger storage actions with NetBackup.

Encounter challenges in troubleshooting but experience efficient customer support
The application itself is a bit bloated. Although it has a lot of features when it comes to troubleshooting, we don't basically know where to start even though we do give them the log files to troubleshoot they don't give us a proper solution set. So I would say because it's bloated, it's a bit more difficult to troubleshoot where you get certain errors. From my side, on the POC I didn't really need to do much. It's only after we discovered there was a compatibility issue with the application that the client was running that we actually had to do a lot of log file shipping to Acronis themselves and getting solutions because of other problems. So on a day-to-day basis, you don't even maintain it, you just forget about it. You get alerts, but usually in between. It's quite easy to manage. To be honest with you, since I didn't really test that option of Acronis Cyber Protect, it's supposed to make everything feasible and easy to manage but I never got the option of testing it out, so I cannot really say at this stage.

A mature backup solution, with many features, and great support
Veritas NetBackup is the first line of defense when disaster strikes. Before performing disaster recovery, we must have a good backup of our image that is also protected from ransomware. This way, we have a golden image that is resilient to ransomware attacks. We saw the benefits of Veritas NetBackup within the first three months.

Hi Shashi,NetBackup is an enterprise tool and Acronis is for private/small companies (in my opinion). If you have a plan for ~150 servers then Acronis is a NO WAY for you (only if you have the time to prepare snapshots for each individual system one by one). KR, Jago

Technically NetBackup is a more reliable and comprehensive product as compare to Acronis. NetBackup has integration with all major business products like MS SQL Server, MS Exchange Server, IBM, SAP, HANNA, Share point and Active Directory. You can backup and restore full VM in NetBackup as well as BMR too for P2V. Acronis has limited features in comparison with Netbackup. Netbackup is a vast product. If you need any assistance you may drop a few lines and I will help you out.

I think it's not possible to compare "enterprise backup tools" (NetBackup) with simple "imaging tools" :)
