Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

The solution can be used for DR testing and allows running an infinite number of full backups
When we consider the backup model of other products like Veeam, their incremental backup just adds to their first full backup. With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements. With my cloud version of Veritas System Recovery, I can have a full backup every month, which is not possible with any other vendors. Other vendors will claim that the original copy is strong enough, but the customers have to ensure that bugs won't cause any problems in the future. However, with Veritas System Recovery, you can run a full backup this month and again run a full backup on the first or thirtieth day of the next month.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The Acronis panel is user friendly and tracking backups across a number of different devices is great. Acronis provides prompts and reminders to users if certain files are not backed up."
"One of the features I have found most valuable is the restore point - it gives us what we need at the time we need it."
"It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately."
"The deployment of operating systems to new or repaired systems is much faster than before."
"We are able to remotely backup machines from locations across the United States from one centralized point."
"Ease of deployment is something that was important, and that's what this solution did offer."
"All are valuable and reliable with Acronis Backup 11.7.50220."
"Acronis Backup is the kind of product that is quite easy to get started with, as it is pretty straightforward."
"Offers good recovery quickly."
"The solution captures the system state, so when we restore the system, it will be restored to the state it was in at the time of the backup."
"The tool helps automate system recovery. The solution is most useful in scenarios involving restoration to a different environment. For instance, when migrating from a physical server to a virtual one, the tool facilitates conversion."
"The solution has helped reduce my company's cost by around 50 to 60 percent."
"You can back up the whole image."
"It has a user-friendly interface."
"The installation was straightforward."
"It has a user-friendly interface and configures and integrates nicely with other products."

Cons

"For smaller companies it's a little more challenging to maintain."
"Yes, mostly with Acronis Snap Deploy, using network deployment, most clients do not automatically get DHCP settings when using dual network adapters on the Server."
"Network based data backup and recovery is supported, however network recovery quite often crashes the application."
"The whole product structure is confusing. You can actually get to do what you want to do. But Acronis seems to have a singular ability to make things difficult."
"Error log interpretation will come back with some great big number, then it will want to go to the internet, but it is a silent site. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to really tell what is going on."
"I would like to have more hardware space. It would make it better."
"It takes a long to backup data using Acronis backup and recovery v11 and I found Acronis support not really helpful as they always suggest to update the software instead of solving the issue with the current version."
"We needed to have help from the vendor for implementation. The vendor used two personnel. We have system administrators and they do the server backups themself."
"The product's integration capabilities are an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"Lacks the ability to protect the database snapshot."
"Veritas System Recovery’s pricing and local support need some improvement."
"The pricing could be cheaper."
"It needs an easier interface."
"We faced issues with recovery and restoration."
"The pricing could be cheaper."
"The reliability is sometimes lacking."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an affordable product and fits within our customers' budgets."
"The pricing is significantly higher than it was last year, which is understandable since they have introduced new technology, such as transitioning from backup to cybersecurity."
"You don't have to pay for licenses. You can pay per gig per month. It is pretty reasonable, especially when you do it per gig."
"Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
"Its price is quite friendly on the pocket. You need to pay the licensing cost upfront, and then the support charges are on an annual basis."
"Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
"Acronis Cyber Protect's pricing is reasonable."
"My company has to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. There is no need to pay any additional fees apart from the licensing costs attached to the solution."
