Encounter challenges in troubleshooting but experience efficient customer support
The application itself is a bit bloated. Although it has a lot of features when it comes to troubleshooting, we don't basically know where to start even though we do give them the log files to troubleshoot they don't give us a proper solution set. So I would say because it's bloated, it's a bit more difficult to troubleshoot where you get certain errors. From my side, on the POC I didn't really need to do much. It's only after we discovered there was a compatibility issue with the application that the client was running that we actually had to do a lot of log file shipping to Acronis themselves and getting solutions because of other problems. So on a day-to-day basis, you don't even maintain it, you just forget about it. You get alerts, but usually in between. It's quite easy to manage. To be honest with you, since I didn't really test that option of Acronis Cyber Protect, it's supposed to make everything feasible and easy to manage but I never got the option of testing it out, so I cannot really say at this stage.

The solution can be used for DR testing and allows running an infinite number of full backups
When we consider the backup model of other products like Veeam, their incremental backup just adds to their first full backup. With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements. With my cloud version of Veritas System Recovery, I can have a full backup every month, which is not possible with any other vendors. Other vendors will claim that the original copy is strong enough, but the customers have to ensure that bugs won't cause any problems in the future. However, with Veritas System Recovery, you can run a full backup this month and again run a full backup on the first or thirtieth day of the next month.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution."
"Centralized management is valuable to us."
"One of the most valuable features of Acronis is its AnyData Engine which allows any device to connect to any other device for the purpose of data restoration."
"The setup is very easy."
"One of the features I have found most valuable is the restore point - it gives us what we need at the time we need it. The important thing is that the backup for Acronis doesn't depend as much on the device."
"The interface is easy to use. They keep on adding new features. Acronis recently added multi-platform support."
"It is fast and easy for an image-based backup across all platforms."
"It is a very stable solution."
"The installation was straightforward."
"It has a user-friendly interface."
"The tool helps automate system recovery. The solution is most useful in scenarios involving restoration to a different environment. For instance, when migrating from a physical server to a virtual one, the tool facilitates conversion."
"You can back up the whole image."
"With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements."
"The solution captures the system state, so when we restore the system, it will be restored to the state it was in at the time of the backup."
"The solution has helped reduce my company's cost by around 50 to 60 percent."
"Offers good recovery quickly."

Cons

"It could have a better ability to manage backups over a longer period."
"If we could have a mass deployment option using Acronis, that would be helpful."
"The problems that we face are often related to the customer's network, although sometimes there are problems with the software, such as an error in the configuration."
"Acronis Backup can improve on the virtualization backups because they are not as good as Veeam Backup."
"No technical support and minimal documentation."
"The UI performance can be slow at times, especially when handling operations like checking backup status or initiating a restore. The response time for these actions could be improved."
"Currently, there is no option to use the tape drives again as a backup repository for the cloud deployment."
"Acronis Backup can improve the latency when the file size is larger, we have had issues. Additionally, they could allow more flexibility when searching for information and I cannot download the CBIS backup copy information which could be made easier."
"It needs an easier interface."
"We faced issues with recovery and restoration."
"Veritas System Recovery Manager offers some manager solutions, but there is room for improvement."
"The reliability is sometimes lacking."
"The product's integration capabilities are an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"The tool's deployment could be easier. The deployment itself isn't the issue; rather, the problem lies in configuring policies and testing everything before it's ready. We invest a significant amount of time in preparing for various scenarios. However, we often encounter situations where changes have occurred since our initial preparations. This can render the automation less valuable."
"The pricing could be cheaper."
"Veritas System Recovery’s pricing and local support need some improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You don't have to pay for licenses. You can pay per gig per month. It is pretty reasonable, especially when you do it per gig."
"Licensing fees are billed annually and there are no extra charges."
"The price of the solution is expensive and could be reduced a little."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"There is a license required to use this solution and it is inexpensive. However, it is an old license."
"Doing what this is capable of doing, the cost of it is in line."
"Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
"This is an affordable product and fits within our customers' budgets."
"My company has to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. There is no need to pay any additional fees apart from the licensing costs attached to the solution."
