Adaptive scales well, simple to create new budget versions and models
For the organization I used to work at, it streamlined the process of creating budgets. It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday. So that made it easy. Reporting was pretty easy to set up as well. It streamlined the amount of time it took to do the budget as well as kind of making it simple to implement a rolling forecast process. So, it really was more just a productivity increase and time shortening for the budgeting and forecasting process.

Daily invoice analytics has become streamlined and complex data modeling is now simplified
We are not using analytics features and possibly predictive analytics and forecasting features in QlikView, although they are available. QlikView is very flexible, but we are currently using only tabular presentation of data because that is what we need. Presenting a large volume of data in QlikView with graphics can be overwhelming for the majority of people who want to see a lot of information in one picture. It would be beneficial to have AI or ML features in QlikView. However, I think they will decommission QlikView, and AI features are already available in Qlik Sense, so you would need to migrate to that platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The integration with our payroll system to complete staff modeling during our budget and forecast processes."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its dashboard."
"Reports are allowed to be edited for aesthetic purposes, which is lacking in a lot of other dashboard tools."
"Automated reporting."
"Changes to corporate structure, account codes are updated in all versions including prior years, hence "one-version of truth" as claimed."
"It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday."
"Forecasting changes that instantly flow through all financial statements."
"It's very stable."
"On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL."
"The solution is fast."
"Data transforming with scripting, and the associative model that lets users browse data in an easy way, are the most valuable features."
"QlikView is a scalable solution that multiple users can easily use."
"Scripting as per a customer's need, which is a pretty cool feature and not available in other tools."
"It is useful to use a tool like this to have a view of data at a point in time. You can extract and create little data sets that you can store, and then over time, you can have a view for tracking changes. Especially when you work with a relational database or a database that's a production database, the data is dynamic, but if you use QlikView, you can take a snapshot of different datasets. In your own time, you can then get insights and report, build, analyze, and draw whatever you need from the data, which is quite useful."
"Associative model - no more cubes."
"The initial setup is straightforward."

Cons

"We tried Discovery and OfficeConnect at one point and found them too cumbersome, at the time."
"Users continue to become more advanced and are looking for more advanced solutions."
"The product's configuration process could be faster."
"Being able to drill down when using OfficeConnect needs work."
"The upload feature exists, but isn't terribly useful."
"It's a Workday product; they could do a little bit better to integrate a pure-play integration with Workday, which really doesn't do that."
"Adaptive Insights could improve the data designer interface to make integrations easier to set up."
"Discovery (the data visualization module): Needs to catch up with BI leaders, such as MS and Tableau. E.g., sorting by amounts in column charts and page slicers to control all visuals."
"The solution should be mobile-responsive. It should also include drag-and-drop and slice-and-dice features."
"Though the initial setup phase is simple, when it comes to the integration with the custom systems, the configuration and the compatibility sometimes take some more time."
"There could be a feature to analyze the sales and accounting data of the client."
"They could improve the speed."
"Improvement in collaboration, between that and publishing of reports and publishing of models."
"They should offer the capability to directly access data from SaaS environments, as it would simplify the migration process, and while it may seem like a minor enhancement, it would be beneficial to our clients."
"Scalability really depends on the size of your data and QlikView server architecture. For the biggest data sets, it could become an issue at some point."
"Better source data connectors."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing seems to be worth the cost considering the efficiency Adaptive brings."
"Prior to purchasing licenses, make sure you understand which users will only need planning and which users will need both planning and OfficeConnect."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is reasonable."
"It's affordable."
"Everything is negotiable, but this solution is low cost compared to others."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is relative to its peer competitors. It's certainly competitive compared to a spreadsheet template that you build in Excel. It can be expensive if you need to have 100-500 budget holders giving input and building financial plans. However, in that case, it becomes an extremely good bargain. Compared to its competitors, it offers an excellent value."
"Ensure that you have the proper pricing plan in place."
"Pricing is in line with other cloud-based EPM tools. It is a subscription-based model based upon the number of users and site type if it's an admin or end-user type thing."
"The pricing is too high compared to the other solutions on the market."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one being low price and ten being high price, I rate pricing a four."
"The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."
"The platform's pricing is considered quite expensive, particularly given the dollar-based pricing."
"The pricing is moderate, in the medium price range."
"QlikView pricing and licensing is on the high side for a small sized company, but it's competitive among its peers."
"QlikView is more expensive than one of its competitors."
"It's reasonably priced and falls on the more affordable side."
