Adaptive scales well, simple to create new budget versions and models
For the organization I used to work at, it streamlined the process of creating budgets. It's very simple to create a new version and do some more modeling based on your need for planning things like headcount, other expenses, and revenue, everything is configurable within Workday. So that made it easy. Reporting was pretty easy to set up as well. It streamlined the amount of time it took to do the budget as well as kind of making it simple to implement a rolling forecast process. So, it really was more just a productivity increase and time shortening for the budgeting and forecasting process.

Daily invoice analytics has become streamlined and complex data modeling is now simplified
We are not using analytics features and possibly predictive analytics and forecasting features in QlikView, although they are available. QlikView is very flexible, but we are currently using only tabular presentation of data because that is what we need. Presenting a large volume of data in QlikView with graphics can be overwhelming for the majority of people who want to see a lot of information in one picture. It would be beneficial to have AI or ML features in QlikView. However, I think they will decommission QlikView, and AI features are already available in Qlik Sense, so you would need to migrate to that platform.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Adaptive saves us huge hours in budgeting, for each roll-up it saves us two hours at least, and we usually have more than 20 roll-ups."
"Customer Service: Excellent, always available and hardly needed."
"It's very stable."
"The integration with our payroll system to complete staff modeling during our budget and forecast processes."
"Reports are allowed to be edited for aesthetic purposes, which is lacking in a lot of other dashboard tools."
"The system has allowed us to take more than 90 spreadsheets and combine them into one system which automatically calculates based on assumptions, dimensions, etc."
"The biggest feature is the source of truth for all of our budget and forecast versions."
"Forecasting changes that instantly flow through all financial statements."
"Dynamic dashboards is definitely the most valuable feature, as you select your filters and all your graphs and tables are automatically updated; it really saves time when doing analysis!"
"On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL."
"QlikView enables fast visualisation, analysis and navigation through data."
"With QV, literally all departments across the company have started owning data in terms of getting hands on data, knowledge about data, how it is built up, and the ability to slice and dice, add, expand, or decrease the size or granularity of their own reports."
"It's helpful, informative, user-friendly, and pretty good for analysis, with everything accumulated in one place, easy view switching, and customizable, personalizable options."
"Now reports are available in short time in a single source."
"The most valuable feature of QlikView is the integration with other third-party tools."
"It allows our company to view all of our data in a single solution and it is easy to use, even for novice users."

Cons

"It's a Workday product; they could do a little bit better to integrate a pure-play integration with Workday, which really doesn't do that."
"It's complex; thinking about the business models and capabilities in Adaptive."
"Pricing can be made better affordable to SMEs. Every year price increase is an issue."
"The planning functionalities are the weakest part of Adaptive Insights."
"The integrations could be simpler. It takes quite a bit of internal and IT know-how to set up."
"We do have issues getting information on our customer success turnover."
"Discovery (the data visualization module): Needs to catch up with BI leaders, such as MS and Tableau. E.g., sorting by amounts in column charts and page slicers to control all visuals."
"We tried Discovery and OfficeConnect at one point and found them too cumbersome, at the time."
"QlikView's UI could be more user-friendly."
"I have encountered scalability issues. Users get slower report response time when there are a lot of chart expressions."
"I would like to see more advanced features from Qlik Sense integrated into QlikView to keep it competitive and up-to-date."
"However, as the data volume increased, the skills of optimizing the tool need to be more advanced."
"Sometimes when developing QV applications, I encounter almost unexplainable errors that causes QV to crash."
"It requires a lot of RAM on the PC."
"There is no automation or drag and drop functionality."
"QlikView has little success by itself, so we have to go with ERP, CRM, or some planning and estimation solutions, which means other costs besides the costs of implementing QlikView."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Everything is negotiable, but this solution is low cost compared to others."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is relative to its peer competitors. It's certainly competitive compared to a spreadsheet template that you build in Excel. It can be expensive if you need to have 100-500 budget holders giving input and building financial plans. However, in that case, it becomes an extremely good bargain. Compared to its competitors, it offers an excellent value."
"Licensing seems to be worth the cost considering the efficiency Adaptive brings."
"Pricing is in line with other cloud-based EPM tools. It is a subscription-based model based upon the number of users and site type if it's an admin or end-user type thing."
"Prior to purchasing licenses, make sure you understand which users will only need planning and which users will need both planning and OfficeConnect."
"Adaptive Insights' pricing is reasonable."
"Ensure that you have the proper pricing plan in place."
"It's affordable."
"My firm got the product at a cheap price, but in general, I believe that the product is a bit costly."
"It is quite expensive, rating at around nine out of ten on a cost scale."
"Qlik is fairly high in terms of pricing."
"It has an annual license. It is expensive as compared to other competitive tools that do more for less. In South African rands, we pay about 100,000 to 200,000 a year."
"I rate the product's pricing a three out of ten."
"It is not very expensive. I think it it is on par with other similar products on the market."
"It's reasonably priced and falls on the more affordable side."
"Its licensing costs are moderate, but it can get expensive due to the numerous add-ons available like those for printing."
