An easy-to-use automation solution with satisfying customer support
Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, like data sources that are not present in your system, Alteryx works a bit slowly. Even if you have a good configuration and you are pulling data from an SQL server like SAP, then the solution also has a slow work process. It shouldn't be that much slow if you are pulling ten thousand records, it should not take thirty minutes.

Easy drag-and-drop interface and supports custom Python functions, but the performance needs to be better
The memory processing needs to be improved because when you deal with a large amount of data, the interface tends to hang a little bit. When the system boots up, it can take between two and five minutes, depending on the system memory (RAM). If the system is low on memory then it takes a long time to start up. If you are not familiar with Python then this product will be a little more difficult for you. It can take a long time to migrate from one version to the next because there are a lot of processes to deal with.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has an easy setup process."
"I have been using Alteryx Designer only for data modeling and data structuring."
"We use Alteryx Designer for analytics. It's quite helpful because once we set it up, we don't have to manually update or process data repeatedly. It saves time, especially for financial reporting, which is typically done monthly or quarterly. Once we set it up initially, we only need to make occasional updates if necessary."
"For my daily analytics needs, the entire Alteryx Designer platform is beneficial."
"The solution is user-friendly."
"Workflow automation, in general, is valuable."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx Designer is its ability to select all the inputs and formulas."
"Alteryx Designer offers a drag-and-drop interface, making it highly user-friendly. Unlike Python and Apache Airflow, which require coding, Alteryx allows users to accomplish tasks without any programming knowledge. Its simplicity makes it accessible to anyone, even those without coding experience, and this ease of use is one of Alteryx's key advantages."
"The drag-and-drop functionality makes it easy for business users."

Cons

"We need more documentation."
"Alteryx Designer's pricing and support could be improved."
"The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function."
"When configuring the Logix, the UA could be improved."
"An improvement for Alteryx Designer would be faster bug fixes and updates."
"I would like to be able to include small snippets of code inside of the solution. The tool has only drag-and-drop features to make it easy to use, but sometimes I feel like this makes it more complicated."
"Alteryx could move faster to create a cloud equivalent of the desktop version of Designer."
"Alteryx Designer is not as fast as SSIS and is not good for large datasets. It also needs to improve database procedures. Though it is easy to use, it is limited in terms of technical aspects."
"The memory processing needs to be improved because when you deal with a large amount of data, the interface tends to hang a little bit."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."

"Each license is something like $4,000."
"The pricing is bit expensive."
"The product is a bit expensive, it should be looked into."

Questions from the Community

What do you like most about Alteryx Designer?
When you open a raw Excel file, it can be hard to look at everything in detail. Alteryx makes it much easier to go through the data, summarize it, and use different tools for analysis.
What is your experience regarding pricing and costs for Alteryx Designer?
It's cheaper than Palantir, but even Alteryx is too much for small clients. It is expensive, considering the server capabilities.
What needs improvement with Alteryx Designer?
For smaller clients with ten to 15 employees, Alteryx can be expensive. The server capabilities are costly too. The technical support could also improve by being quicker in response times.
