Managed cloud services have helped accelerate experiments with flexible configuration options
Sometimes the costs associated with spinning up a service, especially managed services, have implications. For example, if I create a Glue job, that will create S3 buckets and other resources that have cost implications, but once I clean up a Glue job, it does not delete the other accessory resources. Sometimes, I have to go hunting for what resources Amazon AWS might have provisioned and how it is costing behind the scenes. It can be complex depending on your level of expertise. It is not as easy to get started, especially when it comes to secure practices. Amazon AWS is more hands-on than other platforms.

A scalable and stable solution that has good scalability and is easy to setup
It is a scalable solution. I have yet to have a scenario regarding automatic scale and if there's an increase in resource requirement or need. We have yet to have that scenario. We have yet to test that. The scalability was more than manually adjusting and increasing whatever I had to do. I rate it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Amazon AWS is very stable."
"Amazon AWS offers numerous best features, including over 200 services from foundational computing and storage to advanced AI, ML, analytics, and IoT tools."
"Great scalability."
"The environment is a rich playground, and if you tried to do the same things on-premises that you do on AWS, it would be a lot more challenging to execute. You can open up a virtual machine on AWS, run some experiments, and be done with it. It's much easier than buying new servers, provisioning them, etc"
"The compute and the elasticness of the compute is really great. Whenever there's a load, it automatically adds the servers and then reduces the servers based on the configuration. This is really wonderful, more cost-effective, and it's been really good for us."
"AWS is constantly growing in features with every new version. It's a good cloud provider with excellent availability. The integration is good, and their security products are interesting. Amazon is always innovating and delivering new products to customers."
"The technical support is good."
"In general, Amazon's performance is good."
"The control is valuable. It's really easy to use and you have good control of your solutions."
"The dynamic vertical scaling is a unique feature."
"Technical support from Jelastic is very good."
"The advanced level of production-ready Docker hosting, one-click application deployment, and the truly flexible pricing."
"The solution is scalable, and that is what we are looking at. There is no learning curve as we have not done much research."

Cons

"The sorting model in AWS is a little bit complicated. When you are going through any component, you can get some surprising results."
"The solution could offer better integration capabilities."
"Amazon needs to develop better tools for troubleshooting network traffic, application insights, performance, and even some aspects of integration mapping. I'm hoping AWS implements something like Azure's Network Watcher and a log analytics solution where a can pull logs from various services and present them in a single dashboard. I want to summarize the performance and usage of every service and application."
"We like everything about the solution except for the general price."
"Its subscription model or pricing model is too complex, which should be improved."
"Like anything, Amazon AWS has room for improvement, but it's not bad."
"The price could be better."
"We don't know whether to increase server capacity or alert notifications. We don't know which hard disc to purchase or what the next recommended CPU is. There should be an indicator. We would like to have more guidance."
"Lacks better integration into enterprise storage products."
"For now, some customers are requesting support of Docker containers for Windows."
"The backup features need improvement, or rather it should be added, as I could not find it."
"The backup functionality needs to be improved."
"The security layers also need to be improved because there is no clear layer or tier of security in the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's a pay-per-use model."
"The license for Amazon AWS is expensive. I am currently using the free version."
"When we shifted the load to AWS we paid a high cost as the mail stores were hosted on EBS. The storage cost drastically reduced after moving to S3."
"The pricing is fair."
"Its pricing can be simplified a little bit more. Even though they have been reducing it, I still believe they can do better as compared to GCP, Google Cloud."
"This is not an expensive product but it would be an improvement if the price were cheaper."
"This solution offers good pricing."
"The pricing is one of the best in the segment."
"I would rate the cost 3 out of 5. There are additional costs other than licensing fees."
"Pricing for providers is revenue-shared based. Providers should invest in hardware to set up the Jelastic cluster."
