Integration with automation tools enhances customer sentiment analysis
Comprehend is a useful service for sentiment analysis as it analyzes customer transcripts to evaluate interactions between customers and agents. It provides scores indicating whether sentiments are positive, negative, or neutral. The integration with AWS services like DynamoDB and Lambda facilitates automated analysis, contributing to more informed assessments of customer interactions.

Improved data governance has enabled sensitive data tracking but cost management still needs work
I believe we could improve Databricks integration with cloud service providers. The impact of our current integration has not been particularly good, and it's becoming very expensive for us. The inefficiencies in our implementation, such as not shutting down warehouses when they're not in use or reserving the right number of credits, have led to increased costs. We made several beginner mistakes, such as not taking advantage of incremental loading and running overly complicated queries all the time. We should be using ETL tools to help us instead of doing it directly in Databricks. We need more experienced professionals to manage Databricks effectively, as it's not as forgiving as other platforms such as Snowflake. I think introducing customer repositories would facilitate easier implementation with Databricks.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I am totally happy with AWS support, as they provide excellent solutions."
"Amazon Comprehend works with a large pool of doctors. They're building the product based on working with domain experts."
"Stability of the product is good, whether it's handling large volumes, diverse elements of data or processing data at speed."
"The built-in optimization recommendations halved the speed of queries and allowed us to reach decision points and deliver insights very quickly."
"Databricks allows me to automate the creation of a cluster, optimized for machine learning and construct AI machine learning models for the client."
"The solution is very easy to use."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"The most valuable feature is the Spark cluster which is very fast for heavy loads, big data processing and Pi Spark."
"Databricks is scalable, it operates three times faster than any of the other ecosystems which we have experimented on."
"We are completely satisfied with the ease of connecting to different sources of data or pocket files in the search"

Cons

"It is a bit complex to scale. It is still evolving as a product."
"There is room for improvement in terms of accuracy. For example, when a sentence expresses a negative sentiment, such as 'I want to cancel my credit card,' it is crucial for the system to accurately identify it as negative."
"This is a fairly expensive solution for any service outside of the basic package, and costs can add up quite quickly if there are large scaling requirements."
"The solution could improve by providing better automation capabilities. For example, working together with more of a DevOps approach, such as continuous integration."
"Databricks does not always have clear updates. Often we find an update in the tool but we are not really sure what has changed."
"The connectivity with various BI tools could be improved, specifically the performance and real time integration."
"There are no direct connectors — they are very limited."
"I would like to see more documentation in terms of how an end-user could use it, and users like me can easily try it and implement use cases."
"Sometimes we experience issues connecting our database to Databricks. There are no direct connectors — they are very limited."
"The pricing is not the cheapest but it's understandable because it's a very high-end solution and easy to use, there's a lot of complexity masked away."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"We only pay for the Azure compute behind the solution."
"We're charged on what the data throughput is and also what the compute time is."
"Databricks uses a price-per-use model, where you can use as much compute as you need."
"I'm not involved in the financing, but I can say that the solution seemed reasonably priced compared to the competitors. Similar products are usually in the same price range. With five being affordable and one being expensive, I would rate Databricks a four out of five."
"I rate the price of Databricks as eight out of ten."
"The solution uses a pay-per-use model with an annual subscription fee or package. Typically this solution is used on a cloud platform, such as Azure or AWS, but more people are choosing Azure because the price is more reasonable."
"I would rate the tool’s pricing an eight out of ten."
"There are different versions."
