Offers automatic scaling features but can improve user interface and setup guidance
Customizable policies help us determine how scaling should occur. In enterprise environments such as healthcare or banking with numerous instances running different applications, customizable policies allow appropriate scaling. For critical servers, we can set up a higher number of new instances to scale out to prevent downtime. For less critical servers that perform simple tasks such as file copying, we can use customizable policies to scale out minimal instances to avoid unnecessary expenses or cloud costs. Regarding integration, there are some disadvantages in AWS where certain availability zones or regions experience glitches. This can cause production halts because of problems on Amazon's side. In particular regions, when integrating Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling or other services, there might be delays in creating new Amazon EC2 instances, sometimes becoming inefficient.

Easy to manage, flexible, and has good scaling options
A partner company called Cloud40 helped us with the deployment. It took a couple of weeks for the deployment to happen. The steps we took for the deployment process included research and information planning about what we wanted to do while moving from physical to the cloud. We have used all the hardware and other resources available to make sure of the connection.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Sometimes, Auto Scaling is more beneficial, and sometimes, Reserved Instances are preferred, especially for longer-term usage."
"The easy possibility to spin up runtimes according to the needs of the POC, getting a runtime up and running in an easy way, which is accessible over the internet, is valuable for our process."
"The monitoring tool is helpful."
"Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is used if your computers are heavily using resources or heavily loaded, this is going to impact your backend environment."
"The best feature is that the solution can increase resources and handle traffic spikes so you don't lose anything as a result of system overload."
"It's good performance-wise."
"Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling has a cool-down time feature called the warmup start."
"Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling operates at a different level, working in parallel to efficiently manage workload distribution. Primarily, it focuses on orchestration rather than directly managing EC2 instances for deployment and configuration. It uses automated processes to deploy and manage ports, leveraging Application Load Balancers to effectively handle data communication and management."
"I find the solution's scaling capability to be an important benefit. You can scale it vertically or horizontally, i.e., you can upgrade the hardware or clone the machine. The solution is also easy to manage and flexible. Additionally, you get some layers of security without paying for it."

Cons

"I would like to see a feature included that has the capability to clone when an instance is being terminated."
"The price could always be a bit better."
"The spinning up in the solution can be much faster...The product should have a faster scalability option."
"Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling could improve by adding better integration features with the other services. Additionally, if the alarms could be triggered from other services this would be beneficial."
"Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling can provide more discounts when using the machines the solution uses."
"It's an expensive solution."
"The licensing cost is expensive."
"The solution's pricing is expensive. You pay based on how much you use it, like paying for the time or hours you use the service. There's no need to buy hardware separately."
"I have two areas of improvement to comment on. Most of the product names in AWS are not indicative of what they are doing. Moreover, AWS is not organized and you do not have the full platform with you. It is hard to know some AWS services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"Pricing could be a little bit more competitive."
"I rate Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling's pricing a seven out of ten."
"The product is cheap."
"It's cost-effective."
"The tool's pricing is good and not expensive."
"The price of this product could be a little bit lower."
"The licences for this solution are based on the number of instances. This determines the EC2 type that is used and this is then priced accordingly."
"I find the solution's pricing reasonable. You need to pay extra for IP and other miscellaneous costs."
