I definitely see some disadvantages in Apache Superset, particularly in the tagging feature which is not up to the mark, creating a little bit of mess for the administrators. We work with a Role-Based Access Control feature in the product. I assess this feature as good; they have permissions which are in more plain English, but there is a little bit of convenience missed out because if I have to create a super user apart from admin, I need to add all the permissions manually.

I don't see any new requirements in terms of improvements for Splunk Cloud Platform at this time. Splunk's dashboarding, reporting, and visualizations are evolving at a larger scale with the new Splunk Dashboard Studio in place. There were some limitations with the classic dashboard where you had to be aware of different HTML, CSS, and custom JavaScript for better visualizations. That's being migrated towards Splunk Dashboard Studio, which is evolving at a great pace, providing similar functionalities. I have not faced any current challenges regarding Splunk Cloud Platform's limitations. I still think, however, that better configuration and customization options for workload management could be enhanced, but that applies to Splunk Enterprise as well. It's just my understanding and what I foresee, but I'm not sure if it will be a priority right now, as even without workload management, a lot can be done, and the product team might have a different roadmap.

Pros

"I see savings from using Apache Superset in both time and money, particularly with the cost reduced by roughly 99% compared to Tableau where we previously paid almost 50k annually."

"What I appreciate the most about Apache Superset is that it's free and easy to set up."
"Being able to quickly build standard dashboards around relational data in Apache Superset provides tremendous visibility for everyone on the team."
"The no-code interface is the most valuable as it allows us to operate without constant support from the data engineering team, fostering a self-service environment."
"Apache Superset allows us to set up alerts; for instance, if the failure rate exceeds 1.5%, we receive an alert to address the issue with our integration partners."
"It's very easy, reliable, and trustable because it's an Apache open-source product."
"The solution supports a rich set of charts and enables users to create their own dashboards."
"This is a complete log reporting tool."
"It has end-to-end visibility into our cloud-native environment, which is pretty important for us. About 80% of our infrastructure is on AWS."
"Its interconnectivity with the cloud platforms, such as Azure and AWS, was valuable."
"The best thing about Splunk Cloud Platform is that you can bring any data and store it in one place."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Cloud Platform is the ability to correlate events together and combine the data into one event."
"It is a stable product."
"Splunk helped reduce our mean time to resolve by around 60%."
"What I like about Splunk Cloud Platform is the easy reading of the dashboards and finding the data, which brought me the biggest benefits."

Cons

"I definitely see some disadvantages in Apache Superset, particularly in the tagging feature which is not up to the mark, creating a little bit of mess for the administrators."
"Apache Superset could be improved by enhancing its interactivity and engagement capabilities."
"Building a full-fledged product or software as a service might be cumbersome due to performance limitations."
"I definitely see some disadvantages in Apache Superset, particularly in the tagging feature which is not up to the mark, creating a little bit of mess for the administrators."
"The platform's reporting feature needs enhancement."
"One potential area for improvement in Apache Superset is that it must be installed in a dedicated Docker image, which could be a limitation since the goal is to embed Apache Superset in a product offering."
"Dynamic dashboarding could improve to enable smooth navigation when transitioning from a higher to a lower view, allowing for easy accessibility."
"When comparing Apache Superset with Elasticsearch and Solar Search, it lacks some features that come with Elasticsearch, such as Kibana."
"In the case of knowledge objects, even a Splunk admin does not have access to delete them. If we want to remove a knowledge object, we need to contact Splunk support and raise a case. After that, they delete it. They should give us access to delete knowledge objects."
"Sometimes, the support team may not be fully knowledgeable about the challenge you face, but through their internal escalation structure, they manage to find viable solutions sooner or later or provide updates on when issues will be fixed."
"When it comes to the integrations with the other platforms, there is a little bit of a lag in the observability part, making it an area where improvements are required."
"They can offer more self-service capability to their customers. Currently, most of the things happen behind the Splunk Cloud Platform. As a customer, I do not have an opportunity to see my platform. If they can offer more self-service to see the health of my endpoints and stack, it would be appreciated."
"I have not come across anything that I would consider missing as such. If anything, sometimes we have dashboards that would not go into the dark mode. It is a minor issue, but it is the only thing that I wish was there. The dark mode would definitely help."
"There could be better searches, but mainly, it needs to improve the performance with a vast amount of data. That will make it better and easier to use."
"From an enterprise standpoint, we are more limited in terms of what data we can export and how we can present it."
"Its stability and performance can be better. Very rarely does a day go by when we do not see an error in the console, such as a health check error. Because it is cloud-hosted, we do not have access to the backend to figure it out ourselves. We are reliant on their support to figure it out, and a couple of days later, the error comes back or it is a different error. It is a never-ending cycle of support tickets. Their support is also not great."
